Yes it was a training game against an unarmed bot, but I was getting similar results playing co-op and I'm fairly sure I would see the same playing random on the live server. A few points to note: I don't need 18 aircraft to launch a full strike wave; outwith wave 2 I was able to spam nothing but TB; so long as your loss rate is lower than your regen rate this works; I'm not even that good a CV player.

6 TB outbound, 6 TB inbound, 6 TB already on the deck all hail WG's (lack of) understanding of their own game.

Questions to Wargaming regarding CVs on low tiers
Capra76 replied to G01ngToxicCommand0's topic in General Discussion
All AA is meaningless, the reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeework simply wouldn't work if it wasn't. -
Have there been any significant changes to CV/AA for the last 2 or 3 patches? That said, not so much "rework complete" as we have "fing given up and gone home"
-
My 2p for this, most good players play the class until they learn the basics, then decide it's boring as

Imagine having one of the best AA in the game yet the tier 8 CV just dabs on you

The CV is immune to BB damage, why should the reverse not apply? -
Which forum members have you seen in random battles?

Anyone got a seal of approval handy? -
Perhaps it's effective play against most CV players and just falls apart against the very best, but then again if you're good then with CV anything is effective until you meet the very best. Going off the screenshot it looks like the red team potated hard rather than any mega play from El2aZer in this case (but I wasn't there so.........)

Is that normal!? tier 8 CV against tier 6 no [edited]AA cruiser!?
Capra76 replied to MNR1978's topic in General Discussion
The implication was however that top tier ships weren't food for CV. Essentially camp at the back and hope that the CV goes for other targets, then, assuming that it's, not a landslide either way, once the teams have been thinned out a bit, having achieved exactly nothing so far you can take your turn avoiding the rain of bombs rockets and torpedoes. Fun and engaging. -

1/2 competent bottom tier CV can easily destroy the fun of a top tier ship. -

@Lieut_Gruber Which one got nerfed?
-
The game isn't just about winning, it might be nice to have a bit of fun from time to time. Or to put it another way, we could subject DD players to electric shocks of increasing strength until the last one that passes out from the pain wins, but I doubt you'd find many players who'd want to play the class.

Weekly is probably a little too variable , using Maple's data for the last 2 months there are 470 players with an average damage of 70,132, this is the top 100 based on his rating: http://maplesyrup.sweet.coocan.jp/wows/ranking/ship_detail_2month.php?serverid=eu&shipname=Midway&rankfrom=1&rankto=100#24. Going off the damage alone there's about 15 players (3%) above 90% of the very best and 48 players (10%) operating within 75% of that benchmark. Where you want to draw the line is up to you, your estimate of 10 is probably about right for the very best, I'd guess probably more like 20 - 25 are, in Xevious's words, "skilled enough to not be affected by AA". Interestingly, unless I'm reading this completely wrong, the 70k average damage would get you in or around the top 100, i.e. top 20%.
-
Well I guess in the end It's all a question of definition and opinion as to what a skilled CV player is and where the line needs to be drawn. Around the 150's I'm still seeing players with your level of damage and WR%, around 200 It's either down to 60%+ or maybe 20,000 lower damage, going back to the original point I don't think I'd say that AA is really working against them.
-
Feel free to insert your own definition, but I'd say where the AA and plane losses are part of the cost of doing business rather than something that stops a strike.
-
The phrase I used was "functionally immune" and should be read in the context of the post I was replying to and El2aZeR's earlier post.
-
Well, it's not a binary choice but more of a spectrum, the very best always dodge, the very worst never dodge and everybody else is somewhere inbetween. Going off the WoWs-numbers leaderboard, there 2,284 Midway players who have passed the 80 battles count, of these I would say roughly the top 200 (10%) are functionally immune from AA, there's a gradual decline for the next 1,800 or so players, only the bottom 200-300 appear to be completely clueless.
-
If I tell you that there are players on here with 80%+ solo WR in the class would you change your mind?
-
WG buffed the tier 4 ships in such a ham fisted way that Hosho in particular is an absolute monster.
-
It's a start, if it finds it's way into random it might help some DD a bit but won't make a great deal of difference, although even then being dead from CV stikes is usually a bigger problem than being spotted.
-
The other side of that is fires and module damage/destruction, I wouldn't say that there's a great deal in it either way but I'd probably go with HE if I knew that the next salvo was going out to a DD.

Did the RN and USN lack such capability as well?
