CV sniping, because, along with everything else, CV are best in game at stacking DOT effects. So, if you made CV equally vulnerable, the first 3-4 minutes would be spent by the CV's trying to wipe each other out, and after that happens the team that lost their CV might as well go back to port.
-
A lot of players have a lot of time and money invested in this game so your restaurant analogy falls apart at this point.
-
It's all well and good saying that, but a lot of players are going to be put off by it and leave the class, and if it's good cautious play that's driving the abuse then what you're left with is players who do exactly what they're "supposed to do" and get killed in the first 5 minutes.
-
More accurately there are fundamental problems that cannot be solved by adjusting aircraft/AA/ship interactions: CV's are a pure damage farming class, if they can't do this there's no point in them being in the game, and if they can then it's just a question of whose game they're going to ruin first; further adjustments to AA only serve to increase the skill gap between good and bad players, and with 80%+ solo achievable that's big enough already; CV deal their damage without any real ability to counterplay and offer too little back to the other players in return for what they take from the game (hence 50+ k/d ratios for the very best); the counterplays that are possible have adverse effects on the meta, i.e. blobbing and more static gameplay; surface ships become weaker as the game goes on as the fleets are thinned out and AA mounts are lost whilst CV can retain full striking power; once you're one of the last two or three surface ships alive there can be literally nothing more you can do in the game other than sail in circles trying to dodge endless waves of torpedoes and rockets. WG spent six months and seven patches trying to fix these problems and essentially ended up where they started, thus the conclusion must be that they are unsolvable, the reeeeework is a failure and the only improvement that can be made is to scrap it completely.

Patch 8.10 is up on the PT server and notes are on the website, no changes for 3 patches in a row now. Not so much complete as they've run out of time and money I'd say.
-
And herein lies the fundamental problem with the reeeeeeeework, all the great games that you or I have played, all the ones we remember 2 or 3 years later. they all come down to the last few minutes, the last few ships, where it can go one way or the other and you, your skill, is the difference between victory and defeat and now you're just food for CV. skill, who cares. Take that away and what's the ing point in playing?

Heads up: new T8 Cheshire and T8 Borodino announced
Capra76 replied to DanSilverwing's topic in General Discussion
Is there any kind of story behind that? -
@El2aZeR v @B051LjKo one on one, mano a mano.

They've dropped the submarine game as well this year, which was possibly the best part last year.

-
I'm wondering if there's any point in playing the event this year?

I think more importantly, a bad DD player is just so much more obvious.
-
My 2p: Early game, sent most of his squads into concentrated AA fire, didn't dodge AA, managed to get one strike off max, wiped out his aircraft reserves and still managed to get over 200k damage. Much better and weaker targets around the A cap, could simply have spotted x2 DD and/or help break through that flank, not doing so gave time for red team to time to break through on C flank and turned what was a strong position into a close game. Had adequate aircraft reserves been available the push at C could've been stopped immediately. Ironically had you played this game it'd probably ended in a much shorter time with you doing less damage. This is fine.............. play badly and still walk away with over 200k damage whilst DD players need to "adapt", and people wonder why the DD players are so bad these days?
-
AFAIK it's linked to account level, once you reach level 11 your on your own (and it doesn't take long to get there), although if you get to T5 first that also takes you out of protection. Edit: Just for info, it takes 70 battles total to get to 11, up to 60 of which can be in random. Was this changed at some point, from memory did it used to be XP based.

For a laugh I've just looked up @El2aZeR's k/d ratio in his enterprise:
-
Didn't do anything? That implies that it didn't make the Hosho stronger.
-
Yes, but why? If you have Benson/Fletcher is it really worth grinding them again for the DWT and optional radar? My 2p, the DWT at T6/7 are so much better than the regular alternatives there is just no argument, once you get to T8/10 you are purely trading detection for ability to hit DD and the regular torpedoes are more than good enough against anything that isn't a DD anyway. Radar? Only really works in division or clan where you can combine it with smoke from another DD, also general meta-shift since PA makes the option even less attractive (hence why Z-52 struggles so badly).
-
Problem with the Lo Yang is that the PA line effectively ends at T7 so its utility as a trainer is limited. In terms of the others, you might be better off spending the money directly on flags, cammo etc and retrain for 500 gold per time, you should be able to get your captain up to 19 points pretty quickly if you do that. Also: I don't think any of these ships are available for doubloons, they need to be paid for in cash at the premium shop.
-
The game isn't all about "the stats", and frankly anyone who thinks it is doesn't understand what they are talking about.
-
Oh my god!!! The standard for the CV rework is that it should be able to wipe out 4 T9 BB in one wave!!!!!!!
-
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CAM_ship Seems to have worked surprisingly well for such a seemingly mad idea.
-
It's a trade, we put up with taking damage from surface ships because we have the opportunity to damage them, with CV it's all one way, we take the damage but get nothing back in return.
-
Not really, with the surface ships there's give and take, CA wrecks DD and then takes a devastating strike from a BB who then straight lines into torpedoes from the DD, meanwhile CV sits at the back and attacks whatever he likes, spot the difference? Have a look at the survival rates if you doubt me.

Points were raised about the Hosho nerf/buff, I responded as appropriate, quite what relevance other tiers has to this is beyond me. Frankly I find the CV gameplay so dull and repetitive that I have no interest in grinding to higher tiers, even clubbing newbies in an attempt to destroy the game quickly becomes boring.
