I'm afraid this is a consequence of BB's power relative to anything else, because cruisers (mostly) aren't viable in open water and DD are a relatively weak counters to BB we end up in a cycle where a meta develops, BB players complain about it, WG tries to change it then another meta develops and repeat. It works something like this: launch, players quickly learn that cruisers are the least playable of the 3 classes and we move to; 5-2-5 "torpedo soup" meta, BB players complain that "this is the worst thing ever" so WG reacts and we move to: invisifire meta, never terribly effective but nonetheless BB players complain that "this is the worst thing ever" so WG reacts and we move to: smoke spam meta, and of course BB players complain that "this is the worst thing ever" so WG reacts and we move to: HE spam meta, and of course BB players complain that "this is the worst thing ever" so presumably WG will react and move to: the next worst thing ever, no idea what it might be, probably another serving of "torpedo soup", but than of course WG will react and repeat until we end up with the final meta: OMG there's nothing but BB in the game, and of course BB players will complain that "this is the worst thing ever". -
Actually in terms of AA/CV effect it is quite a good reference, the AA effects are after all automated, the bots tend to blob up naturally so the difference between this and random is much less than with surface v surface combat. Plus you ignored PT server (against real players) and training rooms (taking down Des Mo with T4/6 ships as an experiment). But, frankly, the reeeeeeworked CV gameplay is repetive and moronic so I can't be bothered to grind it any further.

There's such a thing as PT server, plus co-op plus training room plus listening to other players who also say it's a joke.

So what are CV weak against now that AA is a joke and they can strike everywhere from safety? Are you saying that CA are meant to be the equal of both BB and DD? If not then what is the relationship if it's not RPS?

It's still damage, kills and XP though and cruisers are meant to be weak to BB and strong v DD.

Cruiser can burn BB down in return (or have you missed all the HE Spam whine). what does DD get out of being nuked by CV?

My 2p, WG have created a game (with perhaps a few exceptions) where every ship class is a sniper class and thus we shouldn't be surprised that the game involves everybody sitting back and sniping. The tank class (BB) end up being the best snipers thanks to gun range and ballistics, because of this the general support/fighting ships (CA/CL) have to snipe from cover and the most natural snipers (DD) have the worst tools for the job but are still trying to snipe from smoke and with torpedoes. The game is working as WG designed it. -
Can you think of any scenario concepts that've made it into the game?

Probably, however you probably won't be able to mount signals (or camo obviously) so the potential for elite XP farming will be limited.

AA mounts shot away by HE fire, fewer allies to provide support, generally just less AA to stop him.

And before that it was smoke spam meta, and before that was torpedo soup meta in fact has there ever been any point in the game where BB did not camp? BB camp because they can, they have the gun range and overmatch to do it, it's safe easy reliable XP so it's what they do. -
Simple, the developers were working to a timetable and ran out of time.

Sorry but no. Ships are hollow and mostly made out of air, the kinetic energy goes in one side and out of the other, the actual energy transferred to a lightly armoured target is minimal, it's like shooting an empty tin can with a .22 round, a hole on either side but the can remains mostly intact. -

No, the fact that isn't the base build for BB tells us a lot about bb v dd OMG!!!!!!!!!!!! as an argument (i.e. it's bull)

RPF gives you likely direction of incoming torps, other tools help you detect them earlier, do those not sound like things that might be useful if you're scared of a bb v dd battle? In comparison the base AA of DD is so low that even a 25% boost from BFT and the tier 9 mod is virtually meaningless, the first upgrade only affect flak and are thus is ineffective against even a basically competent player and AFT only affects the damage that flak causes and is thus both ineffective and irrelevant at the same time. Q.E.D there are captain/ship builds for BB that can have a meaningful effect in countering DD, whereas there are no builds that will have any meaningful effect for DD against CV (and this ignores the fact that DD have many more essential skills/upgrades than BB). Thus if BB don't build to counter DD then that tells us a lot about the relationship between the two, whereas if DD don't build to counter CV that tells us nothing at all. @El2aZeR have you anything to add?

No tutorials; poor in-game feedback (only damage rewarded); frustrating meta that drives away better players. To name but 3.

Because even if you do DD AA is still worthless so you've tossed away points and modules for no return. I wouldn't take a DD out in the current meta if you paid me. Yes, however if BB players want to complain about DD being able to torp from stealth then I'm going to point out there are tools to help them that they're not using, and thus how little a threat DD really are to them.

Except DD have same fire duration as CA/CL so if you said that you would be wrong. In any event fire duration for the surface ships is a balancing decision between them, can you make a balancing case for CV being effectively imune to fire?

Generally speaking ships with longer fire durations have heal consumables to recover the HP lost and those with shorter durations suffer much more from the 2km detection penalty so it balances out to some extent. Also consider that DD and cruisers are unlikely to run BoS, DCS2 and India Yankee, which would get the BB fire duration down from 60 seconds to about 35 seconds. Finally remember that DD/CA are much more vulnerable to direct damage so the DoT vulnerabilty of some classes is a balancing decision. 5 seconds is 1/6th of the duration of even the shortest surface ship and there's no obvious balancing case for them to have such a short duration. So yes, it is a special case.

Do you spec your BB captains with vigilance and RPF; do you run your BB with the target acquisition mod? If not why not?
