They bottled it and caved in to the usual group of whining BB players who complain about fire and want everything that could possibly hurt them nerfed until the game becomes World of Bugstomping (so long as they're not the bugs) and yeah, Neptune/Minotaur putting out 150 RPM might've been a pain for the stationary bow-on BB captains (although this is only slightly more than the Gearing puts out), but the "special" AP is nowhere good enough to make up for the loss of HE, so the ships look bad on the day of release, with the potential to get worse as other players learn how to deal with them. As an absolute minimum I'd say T2-T5/6 needs some kind of HE but even then I'm not sure they'd be up to standard.

She feels badly under-gunned to me, god help her when the initial rush dies down and she meets same tier cruisers let alone battleships, quite simply the AP isn't special enough to make up for the lack of HE. Maybe as an emergency measure issue HE for tier 2-5?

The question I have about the "high skill cap" is are the super-unicums getting better results with these than they can achieve with other nations cruisers, because if they're not and it takes a top 5% player to get adequate results out of them, then they're not high skill cap, they're bad ships.

Only had one game with the Caledon, but first impression based on her and Weymouth is that they are very, very under-gunned, as in I'm struggling to get my damage into double figures, I'm not a great player but I know I'm not that bad.

It's exactly what I feared the moment I heard about the re-design, a rushed, half-baked line that's no-where near competitive that gets released anyway so they can move on to the next project. Would WG dare to treat the RU ships in the same way?

Took the Konig out for a spin just now, 5 x BB each side, 1 x Emerald on our side and I think the opposition had an Emerald and a Leander........... ......ON THE DAY OF RELEASE!........ WG, you have really f***ed this up.

Am I reading this right? You appear to be saying that you think you should be able to wreck an AA specialist ship 2 tiers higher than you, is that what you're saying?

My guess is that Vanguard is penciled in as a T8 premium so KGV would be possible as a T8 regular with 14" guns, if they wanted another T8 premium then I'm sure they could find some way to make DoY different enough from the main line. -
Think he also says at one point that it's murderous against T9 ships. I'd be interested to know how close this ship is to the regular RN line (not that you can tell me obviously).

Scharnhorst gets 11" at T7 so I don't see why a 14" at T8 couldn't be made to work. -
Just an observation about the likely flavour of the non-premium ships, which don't seem to be as stealthy and won't presumably get the concealment mod until T8. Also radar? Aircraft? Detection by DD within ~ 15km the moment you fire your guns? We shall wait and see.

Worrying. The ship's deadly to DD in a close range fight but then what cruiser isn't? Against anything bigger than a DD it struggles. That could be hard to use in a BB heavy environment.

Another possible bug, every time I leave the game on the game Windows gives me a "WoWs has stopped working message".

Are we on a 4th version? I know they've tweaked some of the stats but that looks like part of the normal balancing process that every line goes through rather than the fundamental re-work that versions 1 & 2 got. The key question I think will be if the AP can do sufficient damage against well angled BB to make up for the loss of HE and their apparent squishyness, if they can get reliable penetration against bow on BB then maybe, if it's just going to be world of ricochet then they'll be next to useless in the BB heavy meta. -
So, indirectly, another massive buff for BB because they need more help don't they?

Is there a bug with games timing out and being called draws? I had one game in the Ognevoi where we were a couple of hundred points ahead when the clock ran out that was called a draw (bit miffed as it should have been a solo warrior medal) and had another draw today as well (not sure what the result should have been but draws are usually very rare).

As I understand it (I could be wrong) smoke works by generating a bubble of it every 3 seconds until the generator runs out, so if you are moving forward you can lay a continuous screen of up to 10 bubbles covering a large area. I think the original idea for the RN was that they would get 1 bubble, hence the 3 seconds activation, by increasing it to 7 seconds I guess what is happening is they get the ability to generate 2 bubbles and thus lay a larger smokescreen.

Maybe an allied BB who thought you should be his personal lap-dog and sail in front of him to screen for torpedoes or something like that? The enemy Kagero managed to get 3 ships so maybe one of those thought it was your fault they didn't press WSAD? Edit: maybe, I don't know, a premium T7 BB who's played fewer than 200 games, that might be a likely suspect.

From the RU info thread on the main forum: "The RN cruisers are still being tested. They appear to have found an interesting niche for them." So it looks like version 3 will be the final one and I guess we'll see them in the next few weeks.

It'll be interesting to see how the RN CL perform when they finally arrive, if they're remotely competitive then I guess we'll see a rash of threads complaining about cruiser AP spam.
