I think they need to look at these things, as well as spotting distance for some dds. Another thing is the Fighter consumable that can be abused - just by dropping it over a smoked up dd, you'll know when and where he exits the smoke. Overall it's still not terrible for dds, just a bit more difficult and for most dds, the game is still very playable.

I think the Fighter planes shouldn't be able to spot ships. There's a tendency in high tiers to drop Fighter planes on top of smoked up dds. Might have a purpose, but I think the spotting by planes is high enough and should be active rather than having this button to keep dds down. For an example: Last game in shima I kept dodging air strikes, torps and bombs from a cv. When I had to smoke up, due to others firing at me and when I got too low, the cv simply pressed 'T' and went on to other objectives. He knew immediately when I exited the smoke because of the fighter planes above. edit: spelling

I have a replay, but it's just me lumbering around in GK, getting harassed during the larger portion of the game, but it wasn't super exciting as far as games goes.. -

Yea, maybe, but if they made a 1st of Aprils mode to pick and join battles in subs, people couldn't really get too pissed if things aren't balanced to their standards from the get go... Could be somewhat enjoyable and WG could get a first glance of pvp, if they have a somewhat functioning sub gameplay in order.- 72 replies

You're probably right. ..and yea, I remember them changing something.. it was probably just the description of the flag that was too ambiguous before, and them not changing the mechanic. -
Being low tier dd in a game with cvs - it's fine gameplay wise, but I've played Anshan a few times against tier 8 cvs and ended up with zero planes shot down. This is fine too, but what needs some adjustment imo is XP earning when playing dd. XP earned should not entirely rely on how many planes you shoot down or how much damage you do to planes (this should ofc still be rewarded), but dds (and perhaps all classes) should be rewarded for the time spent under air attacks. A dd should be rewarded for surviving and taking up time from a cv and his planes, meaning a tier 6 dd is somewhat rewarded for staying alive and taking up time from a tier 8 cv, even if the damage to his planes is minimal.

Hey, I can be one of those stat wh@res I think it was a pretty good game though. You probably focused tier 10s a bit too much, but were still a nuisance. Was decently close as well. -

Yea, but why would it be compulsory to use them if the protection was 100% compared to 99%..? They're still mandatory in competitive regardless. -

That is a bit strange. I think you probably have some flags on that increase the flooding chance. That flag also increases the risk of mag detonation, while your detonation flag reduces the chance of 100%, it perhaps doesn't take into account the flag of increased detonation chance. This was the case earlier. However, I thought this was supposed to be changed, meaning detonation flag really should void the possibility of detonation altogether, regardless of other factors such as flags increasing the detonation chance. Perhaps that's not the case still... Anyone? -

Come on, they never had a good reputation with you. Can you be a bit more specific what they ruined for you, in terms of gameplay that is? 2 weeks after release and the game has been playable the whole time, a couple of hotfixes and the game is mostly fairly balanced. Not a few months of chaos, but some alterations over an extended period to make the game better overall. No disaster, just business as usual here... -

I don't think they expect to find a meta in the spreadsheets. The new meta will be more apparent in a few months. If WG or people don't like it, WG will probably adjust some things to alter the meta. Right now, creating a good balance between cvs and AA is probably the foremost priority, after that - the balance between cvs and dds, and probably more specifically between certain ships who will be more shafted in this new meta, likely the torp dds relying on stealth. This meaning shima players will be in a tough spot for a month or two. I suspect the radar and flooding chances will be implemented somewhere here too, which means the game and balance in Random battles, especially for dds, won't be stable before the summer. Either we learn some patience, or we voice our discontent during this time, or we all quit and let the game die. Can you point out the specific issue you're seeing. No, but the negative feedback usually takes over. Content people aren't heard as much. 2 weeks into the re-balancing process and people started to lose their patience 2 weeks ago. This will probably continue for a few months. I'm sure they're happy about the feedback, but I think some people need to adjust their expectations. ..or learn some patience. -
Would people be able to choose to not meet cvs in rts mode, you mean? You'd be in queue for a long time if that was the case...

No. Rts-gamestyle cvs was a failure - they were too difficult for most and too powerful for the good players. Most players steered clear from them and cursed the games in which they ended up with them. Quite often you could tell from the start which team would win just by comparing the cv players. In the end just a very small percentage played cvs. The game is better off without rts cvs and for those players who exclusively found enjoyment in that gameplay will either have to adapt or find another game. Those who enjoy other surface ships will continue to enjoy the game, more as cv frenzy settles and things get more balanced.

Good stream and very nice transcript. The most bothersome about it was the broken English, he's not bad, it's just not good on the ears. I hope they continue with these type of Q/A despite the negative feedback from a vocal minority... -
Most people opposed to the rework are probably not playing cvs and are just annoyed at the amount of planes and some balance issues. For the cv players who can't enjoy ordinary non-rts style gameplay, they may have to move on. I doubt WG will go back. It wouldn't make sense and nothing points toward them even considering it. Going back would mean a colossal failure.

I think they expected there would be some whining after 0.8. Not this much maybe, but some. One reason they wanted to get rid of the old rts style of cvs was the ability to seal-club in cvs. If you were good in cvs and your opponent was bad, you could decide the outcome to a too great degree. The new cvs make this more difficult. It looks like you afk:d 3 games in Midway and in another cv after the patch, but your WR is still higher than in your old Midway games - isn't the rework good from this perspective?

PA, US, RN all seems to be okay due to the good smokes, while IJN torp dds suffer a bit more than before. Every other game is played without any cvs in high tiers though, so it's kind of tough to test them. Not sure how they are supposed to fix the IJN torp dds in cv games. Perhaps make the air concealment super good, like 1km, as a IJN dd trait. -
