Does anyone have proof that this 'mechanic' actually work?

Why am I logged out when I go to the participate site?

I'd like to see their spotting ability go, or severely limited.

Show as much broadside as possible if you're doing light cruisers => minimal damage. Angle a bit and you're dead.

Maybe, if there's a way, consider reducing the range of the planes from the cv, throughout the game. At start of the game - you're able to cover the whole map, but as the time goes on, or as your planes go down, there's a slight reduction of how far your planes can go from your cv. This to: 1. negate the relative increase of power of cvs throughout the game. Cv need to take greater risks at end game to be effective. 2. get cvs more involved - penalize the corner map cvs more. 3. increase the risk of getting sunk by other ships. It's too easy to run away from potential threats and kill them in the process, given the current range of planes. Too often you see 4 surviving cvs in games.

Player Numbers. How much are they actually down?
loppantorkel replied to MistaBoo's topic in General Discussion
Then there are players like me who tried cvs for like 50 games - games that I took from the other classes. Time in a week is still limited. A more or less set number of games and a new class to try out - dds was the class people left in port in favor of some cv games. It's not that strange. -
Just curious - How many of you are aware that planes no longer spot torpedoes in WoWs v0.8.x?
loppantorkel replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
Most probably didn't know planes spotted torps before the rework, so... business as usual, I suppose. edit: I've got nothing to add -
Ranked - worth trying for rank 1? (average player)
loppantorkel replied to para4502's topic in General Discussion
I doubt it's worth it if you didn't enjoy it the earlier seasons. I don't know the rules this season so maybe it is a bit tougher or easier, but don't believe the notion that anyone can reach rank 1 with enough persistence. You may, but it probably depends how much time and effort you're willing to spend. Maybe if you've got the right ship for it. -
Starting from tier 4, not having played cvs more than a few games before the rework, I'd say tier 4-6 are not very difficult to play. You can learn them as well as any other class in these tiers. Some aren't able to learn any class though, which includes cvs after rework. For those totally new to the game, they still need to go through tier 1-4 before attempting cvs. If they go straight for cvs, I bet they aren't very good at the other classes either...

Fara vs WG Lead Designer on CV rework
loppantorkel replied to RUSSIANBlAS's topic in General Discussion
Yea... I think Fara knows the rework is partly aimed at limiting players like him and while I understand his point about being able to control his ship simultaneously with the planes, and the difference he's making between this and torps. It's just that overall gameplay must be prioritized above a single class or a feeling of what seems right. i think it works well enough as it is. I'm sure WG will reevaluate things in a couple of months. I don't see manual control, while controlling the planes as much more than a ideological pet peeve... -
I agree, but if they just up the damage, you'll have the same situation as before, sealclubbing at low tiers and the skilled cv wins. Still fairly close to it seems by just spotting. Edit: Another aspect of cv gameplay is the psychological damage that plane attacks produce. Seems stupid, but I think it needs to be considered. Many players can't evaluate the threat of planes. Maybe they'll learn, but it seems some just go behind an island or to the corner to cry....
-
Given the damage numbers in high tiers, I'd more suspect WG only to be tweaking the spotting abilities (maybe even lowering damage potential at high tiers). As for tier 4 and 6, the only ones I can comment on, I think it's the spotting in these tiers that needs to go down. I'm very low damage wise but still seems to be able influence the battles too much purely by spotting dds.

Tier 4-6 cvs are generally not able to hurt you enough to smoke up every time, unless they spot for their teammates to shoot you. Just keep moving and dodging and let others cap when cv is focusing you. Don't move toward the enemy team under this period. If cv tires of trying to hit you - which is difficult in these tiers, move on to your regular duties. Keep your AA off under this time, and try keep away from being spotted, and save your smoke until you really need it. Stay away from IJN dds until they are balanced, if you're struggling with dds. They'll be viable again in a few months.

Lacking maybe in some areas, but it still seems you can achieve high WR in them. Too few battles for any single player to know yet, but given enough amount of players keeping their WR up, even at low and mid tiers, there might be an issue still. Low tiers (4-6) may be lacking and boring. I agree that spotting is the primary role, which might have to change. If it's the spotting ability that decide games, maybe reduce spotting and increase damage somewhat, to make the gameplay more rewarding but less influential.

Disregarding the poop slinging - @RAYvenMP - you think cvs are UP? I don't think your battle count can be disregarded, it's more than for most players. Given your stats, there's some indication that most of the cvs still are too influential, aka OP.

Fara vs WG Lead Designer on CV rework
loppantorkel replied to RUSSIANBlAS's topic in General Discussion
Began watching it and started thinking 'is this going to be all about hull control'? Yea, I agree, this is a minor thing. I do not care that much about automation. WG can easily adjust these things later if needed. Keep it as it is for now. Fara is knowledgeable and usually very reasonable but this I don't care about. The current system is working well enough, moving back to the former cv issues seems unwise. Yea, increasing the skill gap is bad and yes players aren't better than this. -
Time to bring out dds to outsuck them!!
-
Stop trying to buff the cvs
-
I've been trying shima a bit for science.. There's no real reason to play these dds if you have better options. That said, you can still make it difficult for the enemy cv, taking up their time, influencing the battle.. but generally, you'd better off in most other dds...
-
Honestly, at tier 4 you shouldn't be able to do much damage in cvs. It's a learning tier for cvs and for others to see what planes do to them. More powerful and you'll have seal-clubbing cvs at tier 4-5 like you had before. Not ideal. You can still be a real pita due to dd spotting.

Topic still relevant? Cvs regarded UP after latest patch? Anyone with stats to back it up?

Transcript of the recent balance stream?

Well, I can't help you. Mac gaming has been pretty terrible since forever. I've got a macbook, but I wouldn't dream about trying to satisfy any gaming needs on it. I've got a PC from 2010 to do that, upgraded at times, but still. I wouldn't suggest you move to windows if you want to game, but it kind of would be easier for you.... -
'volunteered' kind of implies we're doing it for free though... edit: I don't get what's wrong about the camo either, other than the strange 5%FXP..
