Player Numbers. How much are they actually down?
loppantorkel replied to MistaBoo's topic in General Discussion
That's another issue, yes. 4 impotent cvs thrusting torps at each other isn't as exciting as some might think. -
..and miss out on the Benny Hill chase? I think not

Maybe you guys just are starting to get bored of the game? The meta is changing by the week, or so it should do. I wonder if not the biggest issue of the rework isn't the balance or the supposed meta, but that the meta is driven by potatoes. Cvs are nerfed to dirt but there's still plenty of games where especially bbs are herded to a corner and cruisers either join or soon sink, along with the other stragglers. Cvs were way too strong at the start of the rework and potatoes can't shake off their tendency to blob up like earlier. -
Rockets of Ranger seem ineffective. Bombs are decent and I even rather go for torps than rockets on dds now. You're properly screwed in tier 8 games now though.
-
Thought it to be another cv whine, but it seems there's a bit of a change to the cv meta... I'm losing most games playing the hunt dd tactic that I've employed since start of the rework. Only played tier 6, but hunting dds isn't very effective anymore it seems, maybe for the better. I'll have to try something else.

So..? Do I need to bring up a counter example of an online game that has closed down? -
118 so far. 19 kills and 3 Krakens in my last 4 Atlanta games. Yes, it's still viable

It's just a game in the end. If you manage to convince enough people that the game isn't worth any money, it will close down. It will end sooner or later, it's the nature of online games. While I understand people are upset about some/any/all issues, there's a point where you just get counterproductive, assuming you want a good game to play. The whole notion that you buy something and it's yours, it will last forever and no one has the right to change it, I don't see how it applies to a digital product that we all know will close down at some point. The worth in buying a digital piece is whether you'll get enough enjoyment out of it for awhile. Don't buy if you can't afford its temporary benefit/enjoyment. Sorry I had to spell it out... -

Honestly, you're quite likely to see 2 fairly bad teams which is perfect. I've played one game this morning - Atlanta, I'm high tier, I didn't cap the results. Edit: To be clear. I don't recommend buying the ship. I don't recommend against it either. I have fun with it, but given the low number of games of the OP, his experience may differ. -

Well, I can't recall any tier 9 battles... I did do a topic on old age and the detriments of it just a few weeks ago - -

IFHE. AFT is unnecessary. IFHE change likely coming though so don't come crying when Atlanta gets hit by this change. Don't buy if you can't afford the change. -
It's been a good and fun addition to Clan events imo. Just need a bit more exposure and time, I think. I assume it will continue somehow, but I have no idea of how to be honest. Haven't read that far..

Are you presuming reading skills?

Not super clear what to do or how to do it, imo.

Does this sound like a quote from patchnotes on a LIVE server?
loppantorkel replied to Blixies's topic in General Discussion
Honestly, not being able to fine tune the ships at start of this rework was known from the start. You have to start big and move down. Fine tuning the ships at start of a rework would just prolong the rework multiple times. I think the game will be fine in a few months, but I that's what I hope. It's a bit of a gamble making cv gameplay to work. It was a gamble the first time, and it was pretty good first time around too, but 'player disparity' failed it in the end. No one knows if the second iteration will work or improve the game, cvs involved, from before. Until balanced properly - giving it a few months more at least - I'll stay positive. Come on, that's not true -
I love my Atlanta too ...but that spam and IFHE seems too good, AA is just cherry on top..

Why is this a 'grim' issue? Most ships are playable and fine. Maybe it's the playerbase that has an emotional spectrum of a broken rollercoaster... -
I foresee an Atlanta nerf.. It's just too good.

When you open your containers - why not have a small info-note from what you received the container? Reward for a mission, a good-will gesture or just the normal xp-reward? There are plenty of missions that many players don't keep track of, and some, like me, open containers sporadically. It seems like a logical place to have this info. I just got 3 WG containers and while I know I can read up on why I got them, I'd rather get the info on the same screen as when I receive and open them. If WG is showing some goodwill it doesn't hurt to let the player know about it.

Some seems to deliberately aim below the waterline, which I've done a number of times to try make use of this mechanic. In my experience, it's been more successful to aim at the waterline and let dispersion work.
-
Yea, you're probably right. Given dispersion of shells and the extreme accuracy you need for it to result in a citadel hit, it's pure RNG at this point. In Random games, I don't see that people can use this mechanic deliberately. At close range, you aim at the waterline and hope some shells land just below...
