Rentals in ranked - discussion thread
loppantorkel replied to MrWastee's topic in General Discussion
Rentals in Ranked is fine. A few minor tweaks, like not putting all rentals in same team would be good, but otherwise they don't hurt the games that much. 2 games ago my game crashed, game after the enemy team had a shima afk the whole game. Things even out and people move up if they deserve to move up. -
You're going to feel robbed throughout your life with that view..

Stats for Ranked Season 12 unavailable?
loppantorkel replied to loppantorkel's topic in General Discussion
That's a good call. Probably the reason. If they get fixed, we might be able to see the stats specifically for the rentals too. -
Whole cv branch has been reworked. Is it reasonable to expect balance changes to warrant a refund option every time some change happens? I'd have some patience. It was OP before, I think people had a chance to be refunded. If GZ is underperforming, it will get buffed again. All cvs are undergoing balance changes throughout 2019.

Stats for Ranked Season 12 unavailable?
loppantorkel replied to loppantorkel's topic in General Discussion
Yea.. usually, they're there, but maybe WG is a bit insecure of letting these stats out this season..? Still, your personal stats are there.. Ship comrade had Season Stats up to and including season 10, but no 11 or 12. I'd like to see some confirmation of dominance of cvs and how dd players have fared. Congrats on Ranking out too ...even though it seems to have happened in a Hakuryu Yup. This is what I'm talking about - https://wows-numbers.com/season/12,The-Twelfth-Season/ -
Consistently from ranks 6-2? Those are the tougher ones. Anyone can progress in ranked regardless of class and rental status. Ranking out in dds, save Grozo, (and maybe not tooo many games) this season is questionable imo. I hope you try though. It's what this thread is for. Challenging people to do the impossible
-
That is good, but I hope to see anyone going all the way to rank 1 in dds. Grozo seems like the strongest choice, being good in earlier seasons and with great AA still. Which other dd could be used to consistently turn battles to your favour? I e get to Rank 1 in a smaller number of games. Retaining stars in dds was never an option, so losing to Rank 1 in dds rarely work.

This sums up what I expect. DDs offers very little. For some reason, it seems I'm unable to even play my Daring in Ranked atm, I just get booted to port again...

...and it's not just anecdotal evidence. The exact same thing happened to you 12 hours ago -

Was renting out ships in ranked that good of an idea?
loppantorkel replied to Voyanger's topic in General Discussion
Really..? Didn't know that. Seems like an oversight. I wouldn't mind giving rental ships the ability to equip camos. -
Was renting out ships in ranked that good of an idea?
loppantorkel replied to Voyanger's topic in General Discussion
So far, I've met rentals on teams for both sides. Usually you can expect them to be worse than your average Ranked player. If you're good enough you should be able to make it past the rental tiers and avoid most of them in a fairly short number of games. What is the big issue? Ranked has always been about being the best (team)player on your team to move up the ladder as quickly as possible. If you can't, you're in for a grind. If you can't stomach this grind, you're better off in Randoms. -
Maybe boost numbers a bit, but maybe also trying a middle ground for giving players options at high tiers given the changes in meta lately. You may have grinded a dd which worked in Ranked earlier but now does not. They've done Ranked in mid tiers earlier - this probably brought the same group of players which now may go for rentals, and giving them an option to play Ranked if they want to. (I think you need to play a tier 10 game to get access to them still) Rental ships aren't a bad idea for Ranked. You get the same complaints every season - 'Players are so bad they're hindering my progress'... Veteran players will always leave and new players will come in as long as the product is attractive enough. The bit about serious vs younger/arcadish is pure speculation, presumably deduced from the cv-rework. Dying product or not.. We'll see. I'm sure it could be healthier and I hope it recovers. The game is still good and there's room for improvement to become a better product, so there's potential, but some balance issues are probably tough to fix, and where it could expand to succeed - submarine territory - is a huge risk to take.

The old 'losing to Rank 1-strategy'... wp Just checking - have you encountered any cvs today? I've played a number of games and no cvs at all.. Pretty strange. Not removed..?

Stop blaming your mistakes on missing air support

If I ever seem to ignore your requests for air support, know that I'm prioritizing more important tasks for the moment -
Which forum members have you seen in random battles?
loppantorkel replied to Cobra6's topic in General Discussion
Yea, lots of planes... Was a bit of a sitting duck the whole game trying to dodge torps and bombs while hiding behind an island. Think I tanked well beyond 1M pot damage. Very well played yourself Sorry about not +1 you, I was out of them for the day. -
Fundamentally flawed mechanics of the game
loppantorkel replied to loppantorkel's topic in General Discussion
*edit* I don't mind Henry outperforming Rep in open water. The issue that I perceive and the question I ask is if there might be too many of these kind of counterintuitive situations - heavy IFHE cruisers at advantage vs bbs in open water. Light IFHE cruisers at advantage vs heavy cruisers in open water, same for some dds. Should this be looked at to make the match-ups more intuitive? I have no interest in buffing or nerfing entire classes one way or another. If anyone believes that, they might need to think it through another time or two. -
Do you have more fun in matches with CVs or without?
loppantorkel replied to Thracen's topic in General Discussion
Maybe increase map size and participants, and try keep cv games for those maps and battles, whenever possible? -
..and if I'm unable to persuade them to show complete broadside?
-
GK Atlanta Clemson old Pensa was one of the favourites. New Orleans is great too, but I hate not being rewarded enough for pouring AP into enemy cruisers ..until a fix is coming.

I want advice how to kill them thank you

The picture that explain what a dogmode this game become after CV rework
loppantorkel replied to yippeeKIyayMFRK's topic in General Discussion
2 cvs haven't been able to take down one Amagi? I think he wants cvs buffed a bit. How is this a dogmode compared to before? You'd be long dead if this was pre rework. -

Due to more cvs? I haven't noticed much change in spotting otherwise. I tend to push quite aggressively in bbs still. -

Fundamentally flawed mechanics of the game

If you'd increase consistency of bb shells - i e reduce dispersion at long range to land more citadel shots, you'd have to nerf bbs in some other ways. Even so, I'd hate to see more sniper bbs. -

It is a good thing if the complexity isn't counterintuitive or detracts from the game. The game is very complex regardless of people imagining it being dumbed down. There's a difference in dumbing a game down and keeping the skill gap between players down to some degree. A good player will outperform a bad one, a unicum player will be able to carry many games despite only being one out of 12 players in the team. CLs would suffer if you only changed this aspect. Like many other changes, they'd have to balance it accordingly. Not sure about 'the practice of alternating games'. CV-rework made cv more prevalent. The difference between being in a cv game or non-cv game is of much lesser impact now than before. Cvs doesn't determine the games to the same degree as before, in my experience. One addition to the overpen citadel mechanic. If WG somehow were able to the underwater shell penetration work properly, there perhaps wouldn't be much of an issue. That would at least add one proper solution to the yoloing broadsiders.
