You keep believing whatever you like. Ranking out is tough and most players are unable to do it. I'm not sure you'd be able to either. Perhaps in the right ship. It's easier to downplay the skill aspect of Ranked rather than trying to actually rank out. Sure it's a grind too, but less so if you're skilled enough and has a good ship for the job. Just to prove you that time is not enough to make you rank out - 1773 games with a close to 48% WR was not enough. Time is not enough - Ranked is not a pure grind however much you want it to be so.

Not at all. You keep claiming this, but it's been debunked over and over. In the right ship, with enough games, one 45,9% managed to rank out. Ranking out takes skill to some degree - either in playing, or choosing the right ships + some determination and time, and in some cases a bit of luck. Not anyone will rank out. Ranking out in a few number of games takes a lot of skill and/or in some cases the right ship. It's a good indication of skill if you manage to rank out in a low number of games in a ship that isn't well suited for Ranked. So, conclusion - not pure grind. Congrats to those who managed to rank out, well done! ....also - patients are not necessary..

Yea, I kind felt I'd be focused, being greeted by the enemy cv at start. Better stay near some AA friends Your team didn't do great, not pushing any caps, so it ended up in a relatively easy win. Tough for an uptiered cv to change the outcome in such cases. We'll see if the teams are reversed next time. Good luck

Stats are a bit off atm, but probably reflect the performance to some degree. Only 12% of the players/ships are below 50%Wr - might be the rentals that are excluded and are buffing the overall WR. As for cvs - their overall WR can't stray off the 50% WR too much - always a loser for every winner, and no rentals to potentially skew the stats. Even if you have a potentially too good cv in Haku, I think Hakus face another Haku around 40% of the battles, meaning even if Hakus are OP you'll have a fairly high lose rate regardless. Daring otoh will face a non-Daring 90% of the battles, making its WR a fair bit more volatile. *disclaimer: math might not hold up to scrutiny

Yea, they seem to have piled up at R5. Gearing is a decent choice until you face another dd that isn't a Shima. Ofc, plenty of Shimas around like always

Very sorry for some salt I've spread around the last few weeks, no real excuse for it, and it will likely occur again at some weak points. Too much of a rollercoaster in terms of MM for my taste, but overall, I've enjoyed this season, even as I've been playing dds. I doubt I'll be able to rank out in time, but it seems dds still are at least viable in Ranked. Cvs aren't the bane of all, even if some further tweaks are likely. So.. well done WG on another good season. Thanks to the good teammates I've encountered and again - sorry for any salt I've brought.

I've enjoyed Ranked so far, give or take a few sessions, but I do think that cvs are a bit too influential still. They are too often the deciding factor. Much better than before rework and very playable, but there are too few counters to cvs. Unlimited planes and practically immune to damage if the player is fairly aware. Not a huge issue as the season has been very playable still. Suggestion to improve Ranked for the future: Retaining stars as the losing top player is a good compromise, not perfect but better than most alternatives. This season it hasn't worked as well because of cvs. Cvs have been to go-to ship class to rank out in, according to stats. I suggest that since cvs have the greatest influence to win or lose a game, they should be excluded as star-savers for the losing team. Cv-players should only need to focus on helping the team win. The benefit of playing the most decisive role in the battle should come at this cost as not being able to save a star when losing, regardless of farmed damage. This should make it slightly easier for the other classes to not lose ground and slow the good cv players down a bit.

The counterargument is that this mode still seems to draw a lot of players and is the only mode where you can't tilt the balance by bringing friends/equally good/bad players.

I don't agree. Divs should be kept ut of standard Ranked still imo. Other game modes have been introduced which allows div.

Yea, maybe. I don't think leting cvs into rank was a big mistake. I think they get some valuable data from it, but you're probably right about the order of things. I can't say I keep up with the roadmap/coming changes. Well, I think it could be more than the top 5%. Stats for S12 would probably shed more light on this.

Could try other ships or strategies. If all fails, just wait and see how things are when cv rework is fully balanced. Some ships are in a bad place as things are, but these ships should get buffed or meta balanced in time. I'd have some patience and come back in a few months if you haven't found something better.

Could be true, but if R12 shows a huge gap where Haku can overperform, I think WG will look into it and nerf the high skill advantage og Haku. This is good. Yea, something probably needs to be done. For bbs and cruisers, I don't view cv games as changing things/meta all that much, but entering a game in a dd, there's a huge difference between it being a cv game or a non-cv game. This is all more apparent in Ranked this season. I've specced a Gearing for the cv-heavy hours and try to use Daring for times with less cvs. MM seems to screw me over more times than not, but this is where it is now for dd players. The gap between gameplay in cv vs non-cv games was huge for all classes before the cv-rework, now it's just huge for dds. Needs to improve still. True, it would be interesting.

Week days closer to the weekend, a few games to unwind. Actual weekends more games depending on what else to do. If bored, more games. 1-2 hours at one go seems reasonable.

I don't think many/any has ranked out yet, it should be too early. So this is more a speculative thread for fun before we know. In Ranks 20-10 I'd say dds are as fine as any other class, but I believe they will become tougher to play the closer you get to Rank 1. Some dds may be fine, but for my own, I won't commit to trying to rank out in dds this season. I suspect cvs will become increasingly prevalent the further you go, and if you continue to play dds, you'll likely not top the scoreboard very often for the losing team. Should be interesting to see how this unfolds and if balance changes will come due to the meta in Ranks 2-5. Further spotting nerfs? Rework dds into subsurface ships? So what's your belief? Will anyone commit to dds all the way? And to end - a disclaimer: This is not a thread about cvs, cv-rework or about nerfing cvs. I added a few questions at the end of the poll because I couldn't come up with any other that were better. I'm sure WG will look at the stats at the end of this Ranked season and work from there.

I think it was time to see the overall class balance. Ranked is a pretty well suited mode for this. Just too bad we can't check the overall stats for ourselves yet. Hopefully they'll get sorted in time. It seems Haku needs a few nerfs, maybe the rest of the cvs as well. Kind of tricky to balance, but it's becoming pretty obvious that cvs, and Haku in particular, is the way to go in Ranked. Another issue is that while you can counter planes to some degree (maybe in AA Grozo, don't have it ) in AA Gearing - you'll have a super gimped dd which is easily countered by most other dds. So, cvs mess things up for dds no matter what.

Why? game is being balanced at all times. Nothing is being nerfed to death. WG has nothing to gain from it. Players have everything to gain from a balanced game. WG have tried to not nerf OP premiums because future sales will be hurt from it. When they have been forced to nerf some OP premiums, refunds have been offered. They've handled some bad situations decently so far. They'll continue to try make the game better. The whole cv-rework is difficult and will likely continue to take time and continued balancing. These digital things you're buying won't stay the same forever. The same applies to all games. Better get used to it. Don't buy things you can't afford being changed.

You're better off hoping he angles a bit before you shoot if you're that close. The 'aiming under the waterline'-strategy sounds nice in theory but I doubt WG has gotten it together to actually work consistently to be an effective strategy. Same goes other way around - if you're in a light cruiser and you've yoloed in front a bb or heavy cruiser - keep a flat broadside and you'll minimize the chance of being deleted first salvo. Might not work vs Russian bbs, because reasons.

Gearing and Grozo with full AA build may be viable in a cv match-up.

I prefer the 12 km torps, not sure if I have TA on them, I think I dont. 8km is a bit too short to get most value from a torp ship, imo.

I agree to the point, but I don't view this as one of more important issues at the moment. bb AP/HE on dd is in a better place than before, could perhaps be better tweaked, but not as game disrupting as some other things.
