Proliferation of rare "Premium" ships available via campaigns or via huge amount of FreeXP ("Missouri", "Admiral Graf Spee" and "Shinonome")...
loppantorkel replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
The proliferation of rare ships is small.. It's maybe better to stumble upon rare ships once and awhile rather than seeing them too often. I played shinonome today, but I think it's been a couple of months since last time. It seems like a good ship, but I've got other ships I prioritize playing, for fun or grind.- 54 replies

Your K/D ration is higher on a bad day? What do you mean by bad day if you measure your skill in K/D?

It took 48 TYL between SC this time. Got 50 Ocean Soul camos in this one. I wish I could open all containers at once....

I think you've misunderstood the question. I think we all know what we have now. That's the current meta. Is it good, was it better before, is it moving in the right direction?

Discussion thread for "some interesting info around the world"
loppantorkel replied to Deamon93's topic in General Discussion
Okay, a bit wrong there then, but the point is - it still skews WR interpretation. If IJN dds are weaker - they are - they're still more likely to face IJN dds, resulting in better WR than if they were pitted against other dds at random. Yes? One way to avoid the issue with weak IJN dds would be to ensure they always face other IJN dds. No team would be at disadvantage. -
Thanks. Very impressive and a nice write up.

MM discriminates between dd types. Torp dds meet other torp dds when possible. Gun dds face tougher opposition - other gun dds. Doesn't it work that way? Sort of lazy solution. It messes up stats for WR too. You can't compare between dds if the MM is tampered with. -
They could implement a system where you earn report points each day by using compliments. One report for each compliment. Up to 7 per day.

Thing is - MM takes that into account, from what I've heard. -
Stealth firing removal: "compensation" mechanic idea
loppantorkel replied to Admiral_noodle's topic in General Discussion
I believe it might have been a mistake to put it into the game. Don't really care what their explanations are. If it's a bad mechanic, it's better removed. -

Of course there's some correlation between K/D and WR, but why would K/D ratio be more important? Why just not look at WR? It's still the stat you come back to explaning why K/D is a nice stat to look at. How did you get to high tier dds without any games played at low tier? -
I'm not arguing for a direct nerf to smoke/radar ships. If they change those aspects, they'd need to change other aspects too. Buffing or nerfing affected ships. I'm not a great player, I'd say above average, but I'm still doing fine in cruisers and dds. BB gameplay is an issue, but I'm not sure how to solve that, it seems like another issue. It looks like below average players are drawn to bbs to a greater degree. They survive longer and have less of an impact on the outcome maybe. Difficult to force them to tank.
-
I think the game might improve if they nerfed both smoke and radars. Smoke could be relegated to mostly being an escape route. Every time you fire your guns, you're visible for 2s, and radars could be nerfed to only show enemies within radar range for 2s every 5s or so over the duration. Of course many ships would have to be rebalanced, but for smoke and radar mechanics, I think they having a lesser impact would improve gameplay.

Reading how unicum players perform well in Shimas, I began thinking about these players and other ships. Which tier 10 ship, cvs excluded, has the highest WR for the very good players, in solo of course? I don't think these stats are available so some speculation is probably necessary. Although, if anyone knows how to dig out such stats, feel free to add them. My own guess, nothing more than guess, would be the Khaba. It seems able to do most tasks and get out when necessary. Kurfürst seems versatile too, but I've no idea about the bbs.

I'm not sure the game is improving/getting more fun with the inclusion of more advanced mechanics.

Still a bit strange they use damage dealt to show the relative strength of different dds. Otoh, Shimas are protected in MM to a greater degree, so WR might not be overly useful either. Should be comparing the rest though. -
Top tier 10 solo carrying potential ship
loppantorkel replied to loppantorkel's topic in General Discussion
Maybe. It seems reasonable, although a guy like Flamu has higher WR in Moskva. Probably not solo though. It's not advice for me I'm asking, I've no intention to play 'the best tier 10' ship. Just wondering. Most things are googable, this question is not. Thanks for the advice anyway, I usually do play a lot support in Gearing. Smoking and spotting for Kageros who likes to shoot bbs from my smokescreens -

No, they wouldn't. I don't believe those people would change a thing. Maybe they'd come crying on the forum more often. I wouldn't mind 50% credits in a loss, but I'm pretty sure it would increase the toxicity. -
Stealth firing removal: "compensation" mechanic idea
loppantorkel replied to Admiral_noodle's topic in General Discussion
Either they would need a slight buff in some department or not, after invisfire is gone. I'm not sure how that possible buff could look like. What I believe is that Khaba with a buff to HE, a heal ability and a buff to survivability with the change suggested by the OP, would make the Khaba slightly too OP. ..but I haven't played the Khaba. Maybe it would be fine. -

I'm not that opposed to the idea, but I'd rather see a slight buff to specific ships than a general one to gun dds that don't need one. -

Why would your version be a truer reality than someone else's? Some might just be more competitive than others, making winning a big part of the fun. Why would playing to win in randoms 'make you sad and doing it wrong'? It's a team based game, you play matches where you're supposed to play to win the game. You're rewarded for wins. Why wouldn't WG just not make it a free for all Deathmatch? Now it's two teams pitted against each other. Of course winning is a part in Randoms. WR is the most important stat for me, although I try not to get too focused on stats. It can detract from the fun. It's just a game in the end. -
Those can't be that many though. If you put that much time and effort, and possibly money, into it, it's well deserved. I'm done with this season. Two games, both losses, in a Pensacola. It feels too ship dependent and I'm not about to make it into work. Is it possible to see if anyone made it to the top in Yorcks, Pensacolas or so?

About some , more or less, drastic changes in overall ballance (its a Poll btw. lets see if WG looks at it this time)
