Have you bought Belfast, Kutuzov? if so prepare to be shocked...
loppantorkel replied to SexyCroat's topic in General Discussion
It makes more sense now. Radars will play a less important role if people can't sit in smoke spamming all day. -

Hey It's not a necessity. Gameplay will get more fluidity when you ease up on the invisible-visible dichotomy a bit, if just by reducing the effectiveness of smoke. Some ships will need to be buffed. Smokes from RN cruisers and Kutusov get longer action times? The whole bbs are getting buffed - are bbs really that OP at the moment? Do unicum players carry easier in bbs than other ships? -

It's kind of a indirect nerf to radars and guess who are getting radars soon To be serious, I'm too bad at bbs to argue for nerfing them. Others, who are great at bbs and suck at other ship will have to that job. -

You think this is what's going to happen? We'll see. I doubt you'll admit to being wrong in a few months though. -

People are too negative. Instead of sitting in smoke - only countered by radar within 11km or torps, ships now preferably sit behind smokescreens instead, spotted by planes or flanking dds. People complain all the time about the current meta, but get riled up when they change things. This will probably improve the overall game just like the elimination of invis-fire did. -
A soon obsolete tactic

I like the change. should make the meta more dynamic. I've argued a more defensive smoke before. The whole indirect buff to bbs is irrelevant. Changes to the overall game with mechanics such as smoke-radar is more important to get right. It's easier to balance between the classes later. -
Discussion thread for "some interesting info around the world"
loppantorkel replied to Deamon93's topic in General Discussion
Could make some games pretty thrilling. Will teammates hand that 4 kill Yamato his Kraken? Can enemy team sink him before it happens? Does the Yamato even have that captain? Edit: I think it might be fun to have some more achievements in the game - Sinking a Yamato with Isoroku after he had a Kraken would be a rare kill and achievement worthy. I agree that radars on bbs are iffy, but I think it depends on what they're planning for future updates. The game has to evolve in some way. -
Come on. You don't know it's incompetence. Maybe they just don't like EU edit:..I thought the sale was fine. ..but I get that some don't share this opinion.
-
They're really adding and fixing a lot in these patches. Seems like a lot of good changes.

Maybe they wanted to try different approaches and see what worked best - i e increase sales the most...

Seems I missed some earlier conversation. Stats tell us a great deal how well we understand the game. If I want to improve or 'powergame', I'd take recommendations from players with better stats than mine. If I want to play the ships a certain way that I enjoy - I'll perhaps disregard some suggestions, but I'd do it for other reasons than pretending to know how to play the game/ships the best way. I'm sure you agree there are plenty of players that are better than either of us. IFHE is probably a smart skill if you want to use Atlanta to it's fullest potential. ..but it might not suit how you want to play it.

Henri IV, Moskva or Hindenburg? Help me decide!

You think the WR is far off? -
He kind of had his low battle count in Atlanta thrown in the face first though...
-
Yes, sry, I meant PM. I was playing a NO game at the time, thinking for the first 7 min I was in Atlanta...
-
I picked PM instead of PT as first pick. Usually go with PT, but with Atlanta, I kind of have to keep check of enemy ships at all time, so I think PM is preferable here for me. Otherwise it's the same picks to CE. Still not sure how I want to play Atlanta after that.
-
So.. IFHE seems reasonable to take when I get there, but certainly CE ahead. Maybe BST before IFHE? or AFT?? I'm at the stage where I have to choose, and while the short fire range of 11,1km kind of hampers the damage done, I kind of like the small bloom which keeps my detectability much more under control. 9,4 km concealment is okay but not great... Either go for max range and harass bbs or min range and ambush dds? IFHE might be expendable in the second build.

Hindenburg has highest WR, then HIV, then Moskva, all fairly close. compare ship stats You've got the Saint-Louis so maybe finish that line first..? -
The gauntlet is thrown... Will lup3s pick it up? I really wish there was a way to anti-div...

Ranked battles a waste of time rather than fun
loppantorkel replied to Amminus's topic in General Discussion
Why would it devalue the achievement? You get there by skill or persistence, often both. I see no reason to arbitrarily cap it. -

I agree as well. It's like being a kid again with a bandaid to rip off ...and they just keep accumulating -
I made it even conciser for those with little time - I've got a question of my own too - How do you balance the classes between each other? Each of the classes are supposed contain ships to be of fairly equal numbers 5bbs vs 5bbs, 2-3 cruisers vs 2-3 and so on. The strength between a bb, a cruiser, a dd and a cv must be trickier to determine compared to a Yamato and a Montana for example. Do you go by some data, feelings of relative strength, player feedback, ignore the relative strength because of different roles or anything? Would you consider going back to more asymmetric mm for more diverse battles? For example 5bbs vs 3bbs but a dd and a cruiser extra for second team?

No they're important to increase server presence, increase sales and feed the children of the WG devs. Think of the WG children when feeling frustrated. -

Have you ever sold Tier X ship?

I've only got 2 - Des Moines and Gearing, so no, both still played. Gearing less so because it's outperformed by Fletcher.
