I agree, Kutusov seems OP and I agree that removing the ability to shoot from smoke effectively removes one aspect from team play, but considering that's difficult to know exactly how it would play out, I'd like to see it tested, just like I'd like some other variants of smoke mechanics tested. You bring up how easy it is to counter these smoke cruisers, yet are performing way better in at least Kutusov than the ship you were praising. It doesn't look like bbs are stupendously powerful in Randoms, at least not from looking at your stats. Anecdotes won't change this. I'm not sure about this change in smoke mechanics, but I approve testing it. I don't like the all-or-nothing where smoke can be ridiculously powerful when you lack a counter nearby. I get why many are frustrated by this. I know it's possible to counter, but I think easing up on the smoke-radar meta would be a good thing. Balances between classes and individual ships is better done afterwards if a major alteration to the current smoke-radar mechanics was implemented. I don't get why people are upset about some ships or lines will be unplayable. Of course they'll be changed too if they become unplayable. I agree that the whole 'other ships affecting the smokescreen' is a bit wonky, but maybe they could increase the action time of smokescreens and only the smoke circle around the intruding bb would vanish after a salvo or two. Shouldn't affect your own smoke as much and it might lessen the effectiveness of unicum divisions in Random battles somewhat too. edit: I very rarely stay in smoke shooting when in US dds. Probably could increase my damage numbers somewhat by doing it. I usually smoke to provide smokescreens or defensively to get away. -

No one's said there are no counters to smoke. Still, it's not like you're having a terrible time in your Kutusov, is it? Average damage surpassing even the tier 9 Izumo, and a WR that is 10% higher.. I like using you own stats against you -

In the perfect of worlds, yes, but it's not like WoWs is having too many players at the moment. It doesn't appear to be dying, but I think they need to keep the game easy/simple enough for the average, F2P and P2P, player/potato to have fun in it. It's impossible to force players to learn games, it need to be accessible and fun. Lose the sub average bb player and I think the game is dying. ...and I don't think you'd have as much fun either if you hadn't some target dummies to abuse -

The problem with lowering the skill floor for dds and cruisers is that you end up with tools like 20km shima torps and HE cruisers with smoke. Those that suffer most from it are the sub average players in bbs. I think bbs should be the easiest class to play - it's reasonable to survive the longest with a large health pool, they're generally slow, so they'll stay in battle for longer and they'll be a nuisance because of their ability to deal damage, but probably won't decide the battles unless they're good. -

Maybe that's why they're looking at the smoke-radar mechanic. I think it's possible to improve this aspect. ...and nerf bbs when you see how the changes affect the game. Nerfing bbs at the moment when players are performing well in cruisers and dds seems backwards. Bb players would get even more scared to do anything and you still have the smoke-radar meta to deal with. -

Maybe they also see that high tier cruisers are okay when unicum players used them. I've asked a few players why they perform better in cruisers... it can't all be because they find bbs dull. Both dds and cruisers are viable at high tiers at the moment, and bbs don't seem OP in random games. There's still a overpopulation issue, but the soft cap works decently for now. -
It's a good ship still, it was a great ship. Other dds have been buffed, to make Benson pretty average stat wise. Still not bad, but it's not what it used to be. Fletcher is whole other thing.

For as long CAs have smoke or islands to stay in/behind, they'll be able to perform well..? That's why good players excel in cruisers compared to bbs and why it's impossible to nerf bbs? As long as the smoke mechanic stay as it does, cruisers perform well compared to bbs and we have these static games. Changing this mechanic should keep cruisers moving but perform worse, which would make it possible to buff cruisers in other ways or nerf bbs. -

It may be true for me too, but it kind of opens up for bb-baddies to say the same when they ask for cruiser nerfs despite them having worse WR in them... I mean, haven't you mocked some players using a variant of your explanation? Asking for nerfs against classes you can't handle or play and all.. -

Sure, but looking at your stats, you seem to be able to carry games and perform better in non-bb classes.. Why is that? Maybe bb potatoes are needed for others to feed on? -
Neither Benson or NO have good WR nowadays though.. Don't think they're comparably that strong.

Apart from overpopulation - the game might benefit from a reduction to 2-4bbs per side, the issue is that bbs are too strong in relation to cruisers and dds!? Since I'm pretty bad with Bismarck, the only 'high' tier bb I own, and I still enjoy high tier cruiser and dd gameplay, I can't really ask WG to nerf bbs for being OP. Some aspects - like AP damage on dds seem a bit off, and the super accuracy on some long range salvos seem unnecessary - I agree on, but the points you bring up above should mean you're having a terrible time in high tier dds and cruisers, yet you seem to perform rather well in those classes too. Most often people seem to be able to carry games regardless of class if they're good enough. If the team is bad enough, they'll fail regardless of class. I wouldn't mind some nerfs to bbs, but in Random games, I'm not sure they overperform that much. I wouldn't mind some changes though. So the issues with bbs are in tier 8-10 mainly? -

So, are they dominating random games? I don't see it. Competitively - sure, and probably some ranked seasons too, but not in Random battles. -

I think the bigger issue here is that you're too entitled as a person. I agree - cvs are an issue, not gamebreaking, but far from perfect. I'm sure they'd fix them if there was an easy fix, but I don't know one, and perhaps there is none. So, fixing them might take longer than expected. So, I'll play as long as I enjoy the game, nothing more to it. -

Won a very close and nerve wrecking game. Myoko probably would have killed me with his salvo, if not the NC had gotten his onto the myoko first, just before sinking to tirp torps. It was back and forth the final 5 minutes.. looked like a loss first, then win, then ending like this. Got the heart pumping. -

Moving in on smoke and only detecting a shooting dd 5km away seems too risky and not rewarding enough for the approaching ship, imo. Moving in to spot a shooting Belfast or Atlanta in smoke would be suicide for a dd if these cruisers only are spotted 6km away. Not much reason to speculate over numbers for a hypothetical change though. edit: It kind of benefits the one in smoke too, to know that a ship is closing in and spotting it on a distance further out.. in another way.
