What ships do you play in Asymmetric Battles other than BBs?
Flaky26 replied to CaravellaCaravan's topic in General Discussion
San Martín. Combination of Specialized Repair Teams consumable and combat instruction works quite well. -
What are your thoughts on the Halford?

My apology. I haven´t noticed that. Thank you for reminding. -
I didn´t notice any problems. But here is link for clan base (as KillStealBoss wrote): https://clans.worldofwarships.eu/profile

What are your thoughts on the Halford?
Flaky26 replied to EireannGamingNetwork's topic in General Discussion
Yes. But I do not know, what exactly do you mean. Could you please more elaborate? What should I look for specifically? Yes, that is true. True and also true. I think, Halford planes are a bit better, because Halford has 2 squadrons. Kearsarge and Halford squadrons have same cooldown/reload time (120 s, 114 s wiht Air groups modification 3). But Kearsarge can deploy only 1 squadron, while Halford can deploy 2. So in raw numbers Halford has +1 rocket, better reticle and actually more HP in total. But has to spend more time in air per attack. On the other hand, he can scout better, I mean more often. That is why I asked you, why would you want to chage Halfrod squadrons. They seem just fine to me. -
What are your thoughts on the Halford?
Flaky26 replied to EireannGamingNetwork's topic in General Discussion
Why? Halford squadron can launch 8 rockets (4 planes x 2 rockets), squadron from Kearsarge can launch 15 (5 planes x 3 rockets.). But Halford has 2 squadrons and smaller reticle. So in theory can do more damage. Well, RNG can be strong. Plus you have Engine Cooling consumeble. You only lose some HP. Halford squadron looks better. So why change? -

Currently it is 6.1 km. But you are right. You still lose on many other destroyers. -
Try to compare Virginia and Colorado on the Shiptools page: https://shiptool.st/selected?s=AB527AB008&c=top&p=gen You will find, that Virginia is basically Colorado, but she has better acceleration, concealment, anti-aircraft defense (in addition DFAA concumable) and secondary battery (range, DPM, accuracy). And Repair Party cooldown is 40 sec (but heals less). Unfortunately, main battery has worse accuracy (sigma), both types of shells fly slowly (have increased air drag) and AP have reduced penetration. If I remember, Virginia might have better armor on deck and some hidden armor plates in the stern, but armor scheme should be mostly similar. I found her playable, but I prefer my Colorado. When I sail 21 knots in tier IX matchmaking, I want to at least hit something.

Pings are fast. They can be avoided, but not from short distance. Attacks on a submarine with depth charges can be very risky, if the submarine has support of her team. Sometimes you die before you reach it. How exactly is this counterplay? The American Balao can use a hydrophone to detect (on the minimap) a destroyer within a radius of 9 km. And for some destroyers, the element of surprise is critical. OK. But the destroyer has to put smoke between itself and the submarine, it has a limited number of them and smokes have a cooldown. The submarine submerges and emerges at will. I admit I'm jealous here. Because my destroyer (cruiser, battleship) does not have a counter to radar. I have to maneuver like crazy and wait for the radar to finish or get out of range.

When the submarine keeps pinging you and the torpedoes are homing on your ship, when an undetected submarine comes to you within 2 km and sends torpedoes at you and then submerges, when a submarine detects you using Hydrophone and you don't know about it, when a submarine detects a destroyer from periscope depth at a greater distance than destroyer can detect her, when a submarine can hide under the surface from the radar and emerge after a while without any problems and so on. When you experience this regularly, you will get it. Don't worry.

I was told that the Karma system exists mainly as a tool to reduce frustration. Imagine you had a bad battle, the RNG showed you the middle finger, the shells didn't hit, submarines and carriers made your life hell, and so on. So at the end of the battle you give a report to the players, who pissed you off the most. This calms you down, so you don´t write them angry messages. And they will not come to any harm, because the drop of karma has no undesirable effect. No reduction in earnings (credits, experience, anything) etc. At least that's the theory. The reality may be, well, we could debate that for a long time. However, it is a fact that the drop in karma does not harm you in any way. Maybe only emotional harm. But only if you allow it. Don't let it. I myself had battles where I played relatively well and ended up with -2 karma. And I thought, was it really necessary? Was worth to them? But then I always realize that player, who gave me/you the report, might be some bitter person, who hates everything. Maybe he didn't like your playstyle. Maybe you had a ship, he doesn't like. Maybe it was the enemy and you played too well. You never know. And yes, WG is digging its own grave, but certainly not because of karma. There are many things wrong with this game. We can get frustrated because of them. Karma is not one of them. If you worry about karma, you only find suffering. And completely unnecessary. Let it be.
-
I have an even easier fix for you. Don't focus so much on karma. Really. In the past, some people already demanded a change to the karma system and WG hasn't done much yet. And they probably won't. Karma affects the number of compliments / reports you have per day and nothing else. It is perhaps the least important thing in the game. Please forget about karma for a moment and just play. Try to enjoy the game, if possible. I mean, there are lots of subs, carriers and fast ending games these days, but some battles are nice. Good luck.

Why are submarines still not getting nerfed?
Flaky26 replied to panda101's topic in General Discussion
Why the hell havent subs been nerfed? Well, probably because submarines are not very strong compared to destroyers for example. They usually take a long time to reload torpedo tubes, so DPM is low compared to destroyers. Even the damage on torpedoes tends to be lower (regards to exceptions like Gato). They also do not have an advantage over destroyers in endurance (healthpool), neither in mobility (OK, the Russian K-1 sails 37 knots, but others don't) nor in camouflage on the surface (mostly 5.6-6.1 km, lot of destroyers have similar). Submarines are not strong. They are broken. Their ability to submerge, avoid radar or detection, and then resurface as they please. Ability to hide from a Hydroacoustic Search, if enemy further than 2 km. Ability to detect surface ships from periscope (Shimakaze at 2.7 km), while tier X submarines are visible at 2.1-2.3 km from periscope depth. The hydrophone and its ability to ,,detect´´ (mainly on the minimap) ships and the ships in question have no idea about it. The ability to find a submarine underwater at much greater distance than those 2 km. And, of course, their ability to guide torpedoes with a sonar ping. Subs don't need nerf. They need a complete rework. And WG is not planning to. They wrote something like that. So good luck and strong nerves to everyone.- 17 replies

Yes. As 22cm wrote, GB means Great Britain.
-
Choose the line that suits you better. Which do you enjoy more. With which you feel more confident. GB are user friendly but lack the potential of other carriers. US are versatile and will offer you higher damage or should I say damage potential. It is recommended to play a lot of battles first before getting a supercarrier. Or supership in general. Superships have a high maintenance cost and thus require lot of dealing damage. You had better get a supercarrier only when you're really experienced. Otherwise, you will soon suffer from a lack of credits.

US heavy (Des Moines) and Russian heavy cruisers (Petropavlovsk) are generally popular lines. US have good rate of fire (for a heavy cruiser), AP shells with improved ricochet angles and good penetration. However, they sometimes suffer on large-caliber battleships and aircraft. Russians high tier heavies have good armor and AP with great penetration. But they lack firepower. Both lines are suitable for ranked because of the radar. Germans are OK, but they rely primarily on HE ammo. HE have good penetration (can damage the decks of battleships) and fire chance is nice. APs have good damage but otherwise are average. You can compare here: https://shiptool.st/filter?g=TPtD&ty=C&n=ABFGHIJRSUVWZ&tn=8&tx=8&c=top&p=ap&rm=12&os=ap&op=Penetration&o=desc Japanese offer good HE firepower but also require good situational awareness. They have to be angled or they suffer. Sometimes they are limited because they have good concealment and can not use it properly, when facing carriers and lot of destroyers and submarines. I do not play British heavies and honestly, I do not see them often. Lot of angling and shooting HE. I would start with US and Russian CAs. Good luck. Check some videos, hot to play them and if you find their playstyle suitable for you.

I mean, if you do not plan to use your steel on anything else, then by all means, you can use it on Pommern. But I would strongly recommend to wait. Gathering coal is not that difficult. Gathering steel takes far more time.

My ''assumptions'' are based on information, I got from reading articles on the WoWs main page, threads here on the forum and WoWs Wikipedia. The existence of protected matchmaking for newcomers is widely known. Given my experience with the search program on the main WoWs page, I'm not going to spend hours trying to find the exact date when and how matchmaking changed over time. You can search that yourself. Here is the first article I came across. https://worldofwarships.eu/en/news/game-guides/matchmaking-the-basics-making-teams/ It is from May 2020, so protected matchmaking for newcomers has been here for at least 3 years. And probably longer. Later it was adjusted to 200 battles. As written on Wikipedia. https://wiki.wargaming.net/en/Ship:Matchmaking#The_Matchmaker_for_Newcomers
-
I do not remember. 2020, maybe? It has been here for a while.
-
Newcomers have protected matchmaking for cca 200 battles, if they stay at low tiers (if I remember). So they do not encounter such experienced bullies. And newcomers usually do not stay at low tiers for long. They rather continue to mid and high tiers. That is, why you can see lot of inexperienced players on tier X.
-
And what else should he pick up? He doesn´t need Torpedo Lookout System, because Friedrich has Hydroacoustic Search. And Ship Consumables Modification 1 adds only 10% to consumables duration. That is not much.
-
Weimar has 6 km ASW Airstrike.
-
I would take Fire prevention for 4 points. It is highly recommended. And Concealment mod. System 1 - You want better conceal.

If I read the reviews and ship stats correctly, then Attack Aircraft have strong AP rockets, while torpedo and level bombers are rather mediocre. I fail to see why the other aircraft carriers should be the same as the Colossus then. Because playing against something that can hide on the edge of the map and send planes at others all the time is kind of frustrating. In the past there was pressure on Wargaming to not have 2 aircraft carriers in a team (4 in the game). And even then, sometimes it doesn't work and matchmaking puts 2 of them in the battle. If CVs are so unique and of the highest order, why should they be buffed? I don't really understand.
-
So Colossus is the reason, why your teams are evaporating. But Colossus is not too strong. Other carriers should be buffed. So even more ships would be evaporating. Did I understand your words correctly? No. Bombs are similar to Implacable. AP rockets on Attack Aircraft is the strong point of Colossus. Malta. She has Level/Carpet Bombers with AP bombs that can seriously damage some cruisers.

Congratulation. I have studied this game for several years and there are still many things I do not know. Some players with programming experience are able to find out information from the game's code. Are you among them? If so, can you share some info with us please? Considering the state of the game and where it's going, it's probably a good decision. Now I'm not sure what you mean. Real game? This?
