It's pretty funny when you shoot a broadside at 4-5 km with your Atlanta and it's all overpens, when he angles a little it's all citadels. How can such a pea shooter overpen a citadel?

The Bismarck is a much better Gneisenau with lulz secondaries. The FDG and GK are fundamentally different ships. They are HUGE and they turn almost like carriers. I dropped the secondaries and play(ed) them with a survivability build. Unlike many people I liked the FDG for some reason. The guns (406 mm) hit harder than the Bismarck, especially noticeable when shooting BBs and angled targets. All tier 10s are good ships, the GK is no exception. As long as you play it to its strengths (hydro-push, armor at close range, healthpool, 12 guns) you can have a ship-ton of fun.

Are there any plans to do something with the IJN DDs any time soon?
Ze_Reckless replied to SovietFury43's topic in General Discussion
The tier 9 and 10 are a Fletcher / Gearing with better concealment and deep-water torpedoes. These torpedoes have a very low detectability (= no reaction time for the target) and they can only hit CVs, BBs or cruisers, they don't hit DDs. So they have the best concealment, the best torpedoes and the best guns (up to 6 km). Maybe WG will nerf the pan-asians when a sufficient amount of players has wasted enough money on free xp. -

I'm sorry I have to disappoint you: Ship Concealment Shima 5.9 Gearing 5.9 Yueyang 5.8 Fletcher, Benson 5.8 The Yueyang is at the moment the best tier 10 torpedo boat, the only downside is it can't torpedo-hit DDs. Shima is still fun to play though it's advisable to get RPF asap. You want to be prepared before you run into one of those gunboats. The bad Shima concealment is the reason why I kept my Yugumo, these two have a different play style (and I enjoy both of them). -

Most people don't know how to play IJN DDs that's the real problem here. It's true that the 12 km torpedoes are the worst of all nations but they are good enough. Don't forget that you get to launch a lot of them at once. If you want to have better torpedoes, pick the F3s. Yugumo with TRB and F3s is a ton of fun. -

Tl;dr: You need to give him time. I was pretty bad at 1k-2k battles even though I watched all the youtube videos and I tried to follow all the advice that I was given. I didn't learn how to play this game in one day, it was a long process. All the help I got allowed me to have good moments (e.g. Kuma or Furutaka AP against a cruiser broadside), but I kept doing mistakes which got me killed too often and too early. Even though I knew what I was doing wrong, it was hard to avoid making these mistakes in the heat of the battle. When I watched a couple of my own replays I realized how much stuff was going on that I didn't notice when I was in the battle. As a beginner I needed to concentrate on basic things like aiming, movement and stuff so it was really hard to watch my surroundings and to read the minimap properly. When I gave some feedback to a guy's replays (an inexperienced player like the one you were talking about), he found it very helpful but at the same time he felt I was contradicting myself. 1: Never go broadside to a BB. 2: Go broadside to this BB. In some situations the second option is viable (for a short period of time) but it's very hard to decide for a new player when that is. You can give some rough guidelines but you can't foresee all possible situations. A lot of stuff you can only learn from experience. Another factor is the huge amount of content we got over the months and years. As a new player I only had to worry about USN, IJN, KM cruisers, VMF DDs and cruisers. Now you have a metric shipton of ships of different flavors and nations. And radar. And hydro DDs. And hydro BBs. And RPF (you can meet a Kamikaze in a tier 4). And strafes. And ... Poor Steam newbies.

Another reversing max range sniping Yamato player incoming, can't wait until you get there. Or another YOLOing 100% --> 0% HP in 20 seconds Yamato player incoming, can't wait until you get there. I hope you will always be in the enemy team.

1. Stop dying. () 2. Try not to get surprised (= watch your surroundings and all incoming shells) and it's not that bad. -

I have all three, Hindenburg is number one. My number two would be Henri, I liked every Frenchie from low tiers up to the top. They essentially play the same way. I haven't learned yet how to play the Moskva, I kinda struggle with the guns. It may sound weird but for me it's easier to hit with Des Moines than with Zao or Moskva. Only you know which of the play styles would suit you.

What can you do to save your star when the battle is lost? You can try to cap something. Or try to kill someone. Or you can just ask your clan mate to show his broadside to you and stop ... 5 screenshots: Our Amagi played rather well, he knew how to angle against the NC. If he only wanted to do some more damage, he could have done it from safety behind the island. Instead he went between the islands and stopped so he is spotted and can get shot at. Ticket is out.

Some tips for @wtfzazo: Your average values for Kongo and Fuso are below average. You didn't learn how to play these ships, it won't be easier to learn at higher tiers. Your survival rates are very low. Not only BBs, especially your DDs. Do you understand the game mechanics? Concealment, what happens when you fire your guns, how to angle. Do you know how to read the minimap. Did you know you can make it bigger with the '+'-key on the keyboard and there are more settings when you click on the cogwheel on the top right of the minimap? Your main battery hit ratio is pretty low. Do you play at max range? Do you know how to aim? I didn't have a full understanding of the game mechanics when I had 1.4k battles, you don't have to feel bad. Maybe consider to stay at lower tiers for now until you get better results more often. With better results you also earn more credits which will enable you to play higher tier ships. It can be beneficial to join a clan. You can learn faster when you play in division with others.

wgfest WGFest 2017 - What has WG planned for WoWs in 2018
Ze_Reckless replied to Hayashio's topic in General Discussion
Maybe bonds would enable us to sell some of our unwanted spotter plane modules and damage con modules and buy more of those sexy speed boost modules? -
The only two I didn't take CE on were Fuso and Izumo because of their terrible base detection. If WG says a Kurfürst can go down to 13.7 km I will abuse it. The offensive and defensive capabilities were mentioned already. One addition: You have a choice when you want to be seen and when not. Fire only full salvos and you will get undetected for a couple of seconds. Fire one gun at a time every 5-10 seconds and you will be seen all the time. So CE empowers you to be more effective at surviving or tanking whichever is needed more at the time. CE and RPF/RL are only useful if you have a good understanding of the game mechanics. RPF on a BB is interesting for clan battles, for randoms it's just a waste of 4 skill points (that could be invested in a useful skill, say CE).

1: That's the gist with lootboxes. You wanted a surprise, you got it. 2: Maybe use those doubloons and buy any ship you want for it?
-
Not damage, potential damage. Check the 'Detailed' Tab on the after battle screen. Right in the middle of the screen are numbers for spotted torpedoes, ships, planes and potential damage. Hover your mouse cursor over it for more information. A battleship can easily get millions unless he plays like a blue line pussy.

The Flint works pretty well, you can sail with the convoy and smoke them in the choke points. I didn't even see how the randoms died, was busy with dakka-dakka. Looking at Ian's free xp I'm a bit sad I didn't use flags.
