I have two questions to the op. @UNTOK's Gearing, Fletcher and Benson have 5% torpedo hit ratio. That's half a torpedo hit every salvo. How is that supposed to be OP? Why is a constant flood of 5 BBs per team for years ok?

When I started playing in Sep '15 I had the great opportunity to play the St. Louis on the Ocean map. That's the American tier 3, not the French tier 9. It's a shame I don't remember how long it took me to get close enough to see an enemy and then to get into range to shoot at him. @vmarek98 You can play the Cleveland in the open but it's neither easy nor very efficient. You lurk in the flank of someone and fire at him as long as he doesn't look at you. Stop shooting in time so he can't turn his guns and shoot back. Rinse and repeat to annoy him. A more efficient play style would involve a friendly smoke screen and your radar + sonar to focus on the enemy DDs.

World of Warships Kino-Tour | Event in Berlin - Diskussionsthread
Ze_Reckless replied to The_EURL_Guy's topic in News und Ankündigungen
Clangefechte: Saison „Norden“ - Diskussionsthread
Ze_Reckless replied to The_EURL_Guy's topic in News und Ankündigungen
1 - They don't do much besides taking the correct lead. You a.k.a. the target allows them to do 80%+ damage in one salvo. When the shells are in the air for 10+ seconds you have a lot of time to react if you see them coming. This if is called situational awareness, it keeps a cruiser alive. The higher the tier the more of it you need. Plus there are two captain skills which can help with that: Priority Target (love it) and Incoming Fire Alert (hate it, others love it). 2 - There is a useful tool for that: Hold Tab to show all players, right click the player in question, select 'hide chat messages' (don't know the exact phrase), enjoy the silence. 3 - No one can bugger off in seconds unless they get devastated. Pay more attention to the map and there will be less surprises.

Does any of you play in 4k resolution ?? BIG BIG problem with aim
Ze_Reckless replied to Adm_Hoshiko's topic in General Discussion
They added the UI scaling thingy in the settings two or three patches ago. Maybe that's what's bugging you. It's in the graphic's tab in the middle of the screen. -
Legendary Upgrade opinons/debate.

Don't have Moskva mod but the Yamato mod is accuracy as well and it is godly. ROF doesn't mean much to you anyway, you want those nice broadside AP shots. -
FdG, the most frustrating ship out there
Ze_Reckless replied to SNAPHAAN's topic in General Discussion
Learn when to engage and disengage. Heal up between pushes, rinse, repeat. The guns are trolly, but they work well. I found they were better against BBs than cruisers. Broadside cruisers catch a lot of overpens, let them angle a little. Judging from your hitrate you are too far away. German BBs are no snipers, get closer and you will hit stuff. Oh, and why couldn't you just add to the thread you are referring to? -
Desperately in need of help to get better
Ze_Reckless replied to FerrowTheFox's topic in Newcomers' Section
First of all, let me applaud to you for one of the best #1 posts I have seen on this forum. You would like to win more battles? Pick something else than IJN DDs. At least for now, until you get some more experience. I wish I could say something else, but this is the sad truth. (Too many whiny BB players cried about IJN DD torpedoes, so they got nerfed hard a long time ago.) I would recommend US DDs, US and IJN cruisers. Play those to tier 5 or 6 and you will learn some valuable lessons. It's also much easier to fight for caps which helps you win some more battles. I would also recommend to at least try to play one line of BBs to tier 5 or 6 if you feel like you can bear with it. The better you know your enemy the easier it will be to hit him with torpedoes. Some general advice: Most players don't care much about winning, they just want to explode some ships. Sometimes teamwork will happen but it's better to not rely on it. You will have bad streaks, maybe one is even happening now. On the bright side, you will have good streaks as well. So, what can you do to win more? You shouldn't be too hard to yourself, you are still a new player and there is a lot to learn. Just enjoy the game and try to learn from your mistakes. You'll get better eventually. If you struggle at higher tiers maybe you aren't ready yet. Play in lower tiers until you see an improvement. High tier isn't a better game, especially for IJN DDs, it's just different from low and mid tiers. So there is no rush to get up there, take your time. Some tips from looking at your stats: Don't play too many COOP battles. It's great for testing new ships or when you just need a win, but it doesn't teach you anything about how to fight against human players. In contrary, you develop some habits which will lower your survival and winning chance in random battles. Try to be less aggressive when you play a cruiser. These ships can dish out a lot of damage over time but they don't like to get shot at (aka glass cannon). Situational awareness is key, who has shots, who is aiming at you? The captain skill Priority Target (1 point) tells you how many enemies have locked on to you as a target. Sometimes it is better to hold your fire until you get into a safer position. IJN DDs need the concealment expert (CE) captain skill, don't play without it at tier 6/7+. It's best to train one captain through the ship line so you have the most experienced captain in your highest tier ship. Why? Your enemies at low tiers have low skill captains, they don't have CE as well. At higher tiers almost everybody has CE so you are at a hefty disadvantage and that's why you struggle with your tier 7s. Your long-term goal should be to get a 19 point captain who earns elite captain xp (WoWS wiki article here). This can be used to retrain captains for a new ship instantly or to boost them to 10 points so you can get CE on a new captain. About IJN DDs: The torpedoes have good damage and a high chance for flooding but they can be detected early and therefore are quite easy to dodge. To hit something you need to get into position first so your target is broadside to your torpedoes when they get to him. This gets easier when you gain some experience, how do players think, what can their ships do, what can't they do, what will they want to do in 60 - 90 seconds. The guns are slow to turn, the shells are fast. You can outgun a US DD at long ranges because he will have a hard time to hit you with his rainbow arcs. You don't want to fight him at close range. Soviet DDs: You don't want to shoot them at all, they outgun you at every range. However, when a target is very low HP and you can kill him with one or two salvos: do it, use your guns. 1v1 DDs: You don't want direct engagements. You spot the enemy DD, mark him with F3 for your team and hope they shoot. Either they hit him or they scare him which will make him leave the cap or smoke up. Send some fishes into his smoke and wait it out. Either he dies or his smoke expires and you spot him again for your team. How about a real 1v1 without teammates? Run away. Or hit him with a torpedo and finish him with guns. (Hard to achieve unless the enemy is an idiot less skilled.) IJN DDs are relatively weak early in the battle, they gain in strength the longer the battle lasts. That's why survival and HP conservation should be your priority at all times. Don't just go in, always have an out ready. For example if you used your smoke for a friendly, wait until it comes off cooldown before you make a risky play. If you would like to know more about specific ships, check the Ships section in Guides. There are helpful videos on youtube for a lot of ships, though most are for higher tiers. Example: How To Clemson, a short entertaining video on how to US DD. If you would like to learn directly from an experienced player you can check the Help Me thread which is pinned in the Newcomer's section. Good luck and happy fishing! -
Is "Concealment" the new "Situational Awareness"?
Ze_Reckless replied to Admiral_H_Nelson's topic in General Discussion
No, the upgrade works perfectly for me. Every BB fires at me, misses and I know from minute 1 where the enemies are going. Most of the time I'm detected, but whenever I get undetected I gain some information. It's fine in randoms, wouldn't use it in clan battles though. -
Is "Concealment" the new "Situational Awareness"?
Ze_Reckless replied to Admiral_H_Nelson's topic in General Discussion
Legendary Henri IV has 17.7 km concealment, CE brings that down to 15.6 km. Would you spend 4 points to have 2 km worse concealment than a Yamato or Kurfürst? Nah. Imo the whole cloaking BB mechanic in this game makes no sense. How should they tank when no one can see them? Why are they the only class which is allowed to 'blink' i.e. go dark in between salvos without sacrificing dpm? They have the guns, they have the armor; hell, they even have the AA. Why would they need cruiser traits like concealment, radar, hydro? ... Oh wait, I just remembered what kind of player plays BBs mostly. Move on, nothing to see here. -
Was there ever discount on "Premium Time" bought inside game for Doubloons?
Ze_Reckless replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
I am very sure there was something like that though it was pretty rare. When personal offers in port were first introduced we could get various amounts of PT for doubloons at a discount. I think I got 1 week for free a.k.a. 0 doubloons that way. I used it a couple of times on the NA server when 1 day, 3 days and a week of PT was discounted. That was before the missions and shops of all servers were harmonized, so a long time ago. If in doubt wait for Christmas, that's when all good deals show up in the shop and in the game. Or just give me some of your doubloons if you have too many. -

I recently uninstalled for a month when I realized this game is frustrating me more than it is fun. I have never played an MMO before so I made mistakes like wasting more time than I would have liked to achieve goals / receive stuff that I don't really need. I did more for the game than it did for me lol. I changed my view on everything and I'm giving it another try now. The player base is here to stay folks, nothing will change. Basically, it is part of the game and you have to l2p and git gud at dealing with suicidal / team killing / afking / botting / battle throwing / triple BB fail divisioning teammates. You can't have 100% winrate so there has to be some battles which will be no fun for you. There will be no skill-based MM in randoms. And frankly, would you really want 5% of all players to get their special MM while nothing changes for the rest 95%? Imagine the queue times! In fact, you don't need to imagine them, just look at the queue times for the ranked super league or whatever it was called. Is WoWS dying? Will future changes / power creep kill it? What about player retention? Why would I care, that's WG's job. I'll just leave when they don't get it right.

Come on, it wasn't that bad. The fortresses camped less than our BB teammates nowadays and they shot at the DDs in the caps.

Der Sprint: 2. Saison - Diskussionsthread
Ze_Reckless replied to The_EURL_Guy's topic in News und Ankündigungen
True, but it's not only the legendary player base that makes radar YY work in randoms. No one expects you to have radar in randoms.
-
Spot a DD, let him smoke for you and light him up with radar! If it was a Gearing you get an extra long smoke for free.

Der Sprint: 2. Saison - Diskussionsthread
Ze_Reckless replied to The_EURL_Guy's topic in News und Ankündigungen

BB players don't camp the map border because BBs are too weak. No. They camp because they are weak players. When they die they don't know what hit them. All they remember is: I went forward and I died. Don't go forward. It's always funny () to see these guys form a lemming train of 8. Then they stop when they encounter 2 enemy ships, gg. You want people to push caps? Teach them about the game mechanics. Thankfully WG makes the 'How it works' video series now, only three years after release.
