  1. We had the radar nerf from 11.7 to 12 km plus longer duration, now this DB nerf. DDs rejoice! Our complaints have been heard. Do I have to say it's /s?
  2. Can't you just aim the edge of the ellipse at the DD a.k.a. miss the target for semi-guaranteed hits? The change can only work if the ellipse is significantly bigger than the DD.

    Ranked Battles: the Twelfth Season

Probably because of the ranked queues: CV 512, BB 4, CA 7, DD -5000

    My feelings about the game.

I know how you feel. The only cure I found for that is to take a break of the game for as long as it takes. If you are full wait until you are hungry again. If you are fed up with this meal look for another one that you like. IMO about the CV rework: I don't hate CVs or CV players. In contrary, I enjoyed learning from CV players like Fara how to play against them and how to cooperate with your CV player (back in the good old days of RTS CVs when we had counter play ). The presence of a CV raises the difficulty of the game tremendously. This can be no fun for a player who is only interested in sailing his ship exactly the same way in every battle he plays. However, players who are capable of learning can overcome this difficulty and be rewarded; it is fun to win but it is even more fun to win at a more difficult game. The problem is: ship vs. RTS-CV used to be a (mostly fair) game and ship vs. rework-CV is no game at all. In the RTS days you could build your ship into an AA fortress which would make a no-fly zone for the enemy CV. You could use defensive AA to spread the drops. A catapult fighter would do the same. You could sail with others for overlapping AA which would brutalize any plane that dared to come too close. You could target a specific squadron to do +30% or double damage depending on your captain skills. You had your team's CV to help with fighter strafes or to spread the drops by clicking the attack planes with fighters. There were a lot of options to counter a CV and you needed them all because the CV could one-shot you no matter what you were sailing. After the rework you can reinforce one side of your AA up to 180% (and weaken the other side to 20%). This won't stop the CV from hitting you, he will only lose some planes after the drop. If you have a catapult fighter you can delay the attack a little. Oh, and if you are sailing a DD you can turn your AA on or off. That's it, this is all we get. Meanwhile, the CV player can get to you within a minute no matter where you are. All he has to do to strike you successfully is to play a bullet hell mini-game with your flak clouds. He can use boost to accelerate or slow down, he can turn and he can use islands or the attack to change altitude and evade your flak puffs. He can even spawn your flak puffs in an area where he wants them to be by timing his turns correctly. Yes, the CV player aims your flak for you because WG logic is stronk. Or he just uses an island as cover to avoid your AA completely. The only defense against CVs is to hope the CV player is a potato who thinks your flak clouds are power-ups that he has to collect. You can play a Worcester, be killed by CV from 100 to 0 and kill 10 planes in the process. Next battle you can play a Yugumo and kill 40 planes. This is no game, this is like playing a slot machine. Most of us don't want to play slots when we start WoWS. And to come back to the topic a bit, this is the reason why the game feels less fun than before. Some parts of the game were taken away and replaced by RNG. There is less player interaction in ship vs. CV combat and what is even worse there is almost zero player interaction in CV vs. CV combat. I don't believe anything will change. The rework must be a success for WG or else. I guess they want to make CVs popular for as many bad CV players as possible so we aren't affected by them as much. Nothing to worry about, right? Now go and buy more containers!

help me sorting this thing out.

Worse results are possible. Game time 6:10, I did 16k damage and I capped B, game ended when enemy had 0 points: XP wise it looks like we were playing randoms and the enemy played a COOP battle. This was on NA but I'm sure games like these happen here as well.
  6. No, not everything is peachy. There is a lot to learn in this game and most of us need(ed) a couple of months for that. If you rush through the tiers you never learn how to play your precious top tier ship. A top tier ship has more impact than a bottom tier ship so your team is always at a disadvantage which makes you lose more games. A 10 point captain is all you need, for some ships maybe 14. The last points to 19 are just the icing on the cake. The biggest benefit of a 19 pointer is elite captain xp. Take it slowly and you will have more fun with the game. (I assume here you like winning.) Every ship in the line teaches you something. If you buy free xp to skip a ship you rob yourself from a valuable learning experience. There is a lot of fun ships at all tiers, I have kept many low and mid tier sips in my port even though I have every tier 10.

Why do BB's instantly put out one fire?

At tier 1 you learn: You are on fire? - Press R! And that's how they roll all the way to tier 10. Seriously though, it's unicum tactics that we can't understand, they go over the top of our heads. Btw you can recognize the most hardcore BB super unicums by their HP, they have more than normal players.

Dark vs White theme and colors in the forum!

@Allied_Winter Good point. But then why quote and not just post a link? ;-)

Dark vs White theme and colors in the forum!

Highlighting text is fine, I got used to it quickly. However, quotes from reddit are a real PITA. Evolution of a reddit post in dark theme into something that is readable: My preferred solution was mentioned already, make paste as plain text the default option. I don't know if it is doable and how soonTM it will come. In the meanwhile, can we all agree to use the paste as plain text option when we paste something? Maybe it would be useful to pin a PSA in gameplay. Many people don't know this option exists because it is small, out of sight and it appears when you are done with pasting a.k.a. you think there are no more actions necessary.

    ST - Icebergs

Ice sinks in vodka, just saying. All these years we were sailing on vodka and we didn't know.

    ST - French destroyers

If the improved speed boost doesn't only buff the max speed but also acceleration and deceleration the French DDs will dodge mostly with the S/W-keys, not with the rudder like Khaba. I wouldn't write off a whole line without trying it.

    ST - New ships

It's basically a Clemson, just without the seal clubbing. Sounds like fun to me. And from my ranked experience: It's possible to hit DDs with Black's torpedoes, 55 knots is plenty enough when you consider how often high tier BB players touch their rudder and engine controls.

    Henri IV Legendary Module experiences

And with IFHE you double laugh at Stalin / Moskva.

    Henri IV Legendary Module experiences

With 17.7 km concealment enemy BBs shoot you at the beginning of the battle and you know where the enemy team is going i.e. you can scout as early as a CV. It is easy to dodge the salvos, they have more than 10 seconds flight time. With speed boost active you can just sit and alternate forward and reverse to dodge everything. You farm potential damage while your radar cruisers go into position unharmed. After some time your priority target counter stays at zero, they get bored and look for targets that they can hit. It's not needed to go to 13 km from a BB, 15 - 16 is close enough. If you sail away you don't go full speed, go slowly and change your speed from time to time and you keep him in range for longer. You can even reverse towards the enemy for the memes. I never had trouble hitting with the French. Maybe it's because I am so used to US arcs, the Frenchies are easier to hit with. Maybe it helps if you zoom out one notch when in binocular view.

  18. Secondaries don't count for the smoke firing penalty. You had three options: sink him with torpedoes (if you are this close be patient to ensure 100% hits, spread them out to hit the whole length of the ship to avoid damage saturation) or don't fire your guns at all until you are safe to do so or fire your guns and keep sailing at full speed to outrun his turret rotation. I assume your 3 km hydro was on cooldown. Edit: If you had gun bloom your smoke firing penalty was in effect.
  19. Serves me right for not having Last Stand on my radar Edinburgh. At least I shot down 18 more planes than you.

    Two graphic glitches, anyone else?

The island thing happens more often on the NA server for me so it's a desync issue.

    Radar Discussion Megathread

This is true. High tier DD players need more patience than low tier DD players. One typical example is C cap on Sleeping Giant. You can rush into the cap and hug one of the small islands but doing that you rely on your team to bail you out. If the enemy pushes in while your team sits in the back you are screwed, there is no way out. It's better to flank the cap on 9 line, from there you can detect that pesky radar cruiser and your BBs are happy to farm him. In addition to that, if you have a radar of your own you can smoke up and shoot the enemy DD in the cap who thinks he has a safe position. Maps like Sea of Fortune are paradise for radar cruisers, it is very hard to not get radared in a DD. However, you can use the islands as well so nobody can shoot you even if you are detected for a full minute. Obviously you can't do that alone, you always need support to secure caps. You want cruisers for fire support, radar cruisers are even better and BBs to stop the enemy from coming too close. If your team doesn't provide that you should be extremely careful, you don't want to fight a 1 vs 4.

    How does Skill effects WR?

I don't think it is a set number, it can be more complicated than that. All we know is MM moves in mysterious ways, it's hard to rig something on that basis.

Exeter easiest to aim for achievements ?

In that case you can be happy you aren't wasting time on that team and start a new battle.

    What's your captain strategy?

I used the captain respec with update 8.0 to redistribute all of my captains for free. You can do this for all or some selected captains when update 8.2 hits. Beware, it takes a lot of time if you have 100+ ships in port. I always move captains to the higher tier ship and boost the new captain with elite xp to 10 points. How to move captains from ship to ship: Pay 200k credits for 50% retraining, click '+'-icon and complete the retraining with elite xp.
