    I can't decide what to get

    No idea without knowing what you like to play. Both are good ships and fun to play. I prefer the Atlanta just like I prefer the Colbert to Ohio. If you like Seattle, Helena, Cleveland you will like Atlanta. The IFHE captain skill is more important than concealment though it's best to have both. If you like high tier german cruisers you will like the Scharnhorst. Solid and tanky hull, very fast ship, decent guns which will be buffed with the next patch (all german BBs get a bit better dispersion). AP blaps cruisers, against BBs it's better to shoot HE unless they give full broadside.
  2. Remove detection symbol would be nice but might be a tad too much. How about making the planes less stealthy by 2 to 3 km so the CV has a bigger area to search to find the DD and the DD has more time to reposition or smoke up?

    If you are brave crazy enough you can play a DD like Shimakaze and torp them. Either annihilate them or make them leave their smoke when they have hydro running. Just don't get caught in radar that doesn't end well.
  6. @iTchyfoot You will always get these replies because the CV rework is as glorious as it is. However, if you don't want to give up regardless of your odds you can watch this replay of mine to see a couple of tricks you can try: 20191128_143110_PJSD004-Minekadze-1920_13_OC_new_dawn.wowsreplay It's not a long watch, I potato into a Nicholas torpedo after less than 8 minutes of battle. In the first 5 minutes it might look like I'm wasting a smoke for nothing and I'm doing nothing in general. Actually, I'm wasting the CV's time. When I see his planes on my side I leave the predictable course from my spawn towards the enemy. He spends a lot of time to find me but when he does I deny him a strike (engine and rudder controls aren't shown in replays, check my speed instead to see how I maneuver when the planes get close to me). I leave the first smoke as early as I can to attack the Izmail. The CV thinks I'm sitting in smoke all the time, that's why he puts a fighter there before it dissipates. The planes didn't do any damage to me and they didn't get me killed. I missed my torps on the Izmail (should have torped the white line instead of thinking he would turn in when he detects me) and I thought the second volley of Nicholas-torps would come later. These two misplays cost me the ship. What can you do as a DD in CV battles: Don't move on a predictable course from spawn. Especially for higher tiers, don't go alone. Your teammates will spot planes for you when you smoke up so you know when it is safe to leave. Without them you are blind and soon dead. When you get detected turn into the rocket planes at full speed. If they come from behind stop when they detect you, start moving as soon as possible and turn after getting undetected so his aim is off when he finds you after turning around. Against dive-bombers you want to give them broadside, evade and pray. Especially in higher tiers or against stronger CV players don't be afraid to use your smoke early if he is determined to strike you. If he detects you and you start smoking at full speed it might be too late to deny a strike. If a CV player wants you dead you are SOL no matter how good or bad he is. Some of them will leave you alone and look for easier targets when you waste their time. All of this sounds like counter-play but it really isn't. You have to work hard to survive against average and potato CV players who just need to press a button at the right time to ruin your game. Better players will f you up no matter what you do, they have all the tools for that. At least 80+% of CV players are terrible, that is the only reason why people haven't stopped playing DDs. Still, playing a DD when there are CVs in queue is playing WoWS in hard mode. Pick a BB with fighter plane and voila, easy mode.

    To be fair, I haven't seen any CVs yet. Radars are no problem, they are predictable. Smolensk and other smoke sniffers as well. Rank 9 now, I expect it to be much harder from rank 5 like every season.

    GK is strong enough and will even be buffed soonTM, Hindenburg is the better choice IMO as it has been powercrept a bit.

    I don't have this experience. Abuse without any reasons happens rarely, they get their deserved 'misbehaviour in chat', done. Some people vent because of questionable teammates. If they go overboard with the insults they get a report as well; however, I don't see why we should punish people for complaining about terrible players that lose games. You know, the full HP J-line BB, the 'flanking' Shima who goes around all caps only to get killed by the CV as soon as he finds his ship, ... Toxic gameplay is no better than toxic chat but for some reason people never complain about the former even though it affects us all way more often than the latter.

    Genau das hatte ich, die Balti hatte keine Chance. Einerseits hast Du Recht, andererseits wäre ein gespiegelter Modus recht schnell langweilig. Gute Spieler würden fast immer gewinnen, schlechtere fast immer verlieren. Mit skillbasiertem MM würde das anders aussehen aber ob das jemals in irgendeinem Modus kommt ... Na ja, U-Boote schienen bis vor kurzer Zeit auch ausgeschlossen. Auch im Ranked hat nicht nur der Spieler entschieden, die Schiffswahl gehörte schon immer dazu. Es kristallisieren sich immer die üblichen Verdächtigen heraus (Kita, Black, Missouri, ...) während eine Tashkent oder Ibuki es deutlich schwerer hat. Das ist hier nicht anders.

    I just unlocked Zara. The IT cruisers remind me a bit of Hindenburg, it isn't easy to get the AP to work but if you pull it off the rewards are great (true for both AP and SAP). As others already said, the SAP does disgusting things to DDs even at range. This line requires a bit of thinking to be played effectively which I like, e.g. where to aim with SAP. I had the opportunity to use the smoke offensively in a rush against a Texas/NY, it was hilarious.

    You increase damage by climbing tiers automatically, same for XP. The latter can be buffed considerably by activating premium time. None of this helps your win rate, the most important benchmark for player power. To get better win rate you need to learn how to play, learn how to aim (seriously, way too low hit rate especially in RU cruisers, your main line), have impact in the battles. I would suggest you learn how to aim in low and mid tiers, with cruisers you should have at least 30% hit rate. With better aim comes more damage and impact on the game. You have never played DDs (your only DD is Sims). Play one or two DD-lines at least to tier 6, I suggest to start with US DDs. That teaches you how to play with concealment which helps your cruiser gameplay as well.

    Mit dem Genauigkeits-Buff für alle IJN-CA-Kanonen vor einiger Zeit sehe ich die Japan-Kreuzer als stark genug an, um selbst mit den neueren Linien mitzuhalten. Die Ibuki ist stärker als Myoko, allenfalls ist es schwerer sie erfolgreich zu spielen weil man gegen so tolle Schiffe wie Kremlin, Legendary-Yamato, Harugumo, uvm. antreten darf. Myoko ist im Vergleich zu anderen T7-CAs einer der stärkeren, Ibuki hat mehr Konkurrenz. Eventuell bekommst Du deshalb das Gefühl die Ibuki sei schwach. Ich habe die IJN-CAs dieses Jahr auf dem Amerika-Server gespielt, Ibuki ist stärker als Myoko:

    I would love to see WG's idea for Kremlin. Maybe combine DM, Yamato and Gearing module? Instant max speed, better dispersion, better concealment.

    Faster turret traverse gives flexibility, you can react faster to unforeseen situations. Helps with my aggressive playstyle. Other playstyles may not need it.

    No, but I use the turret traverse modification. Yes, I lose a bit of dpm but these boats are all about the alpha. You can't fire on reload anyway when your turrets can't keep up with your rudder. I tried a gunboat Shima with EM, BFT, AFT but it's not worth it. I prefer to buff survivability and torps.

    Dies ist Sprint und nicht Ranked. Es ist kurz und auf Spaß ausgelegt, wer es ernst nimmt und Min-Maxen will ist selbst schuld. Die Sprints habe ich schon immer zum Spielen von vermeintlich schwachen Schiffen genutzt, weil man ja immer Top Tier ist. Marblehead, Huang He, Mutsu; auf 8 gibt es da so einige Kandidaten: Mogami, Edinburgh, Chapayev, Hipper, Monarch, Cleveland, Baltimore. Wer keinen Spaß daran hat kann es ja lassen, gibt ja nur ne handvoll Kohle für.

    I have the same, mission 9 as well. We got all the rewards, all we are missing is the 'ultimate campaign completion' achievement so I don't care about this bug.
  20. TBH that wouldn't do anything for me even if it was something nice. They introduce a class that has no counter, you can only hope for a bad player piloting the planes. And they say they did a great job with it, rework is done, move on to subs. Shooting is bugged in a game that is all about freaking shooting for how long now (lock-on bug) and they seem to have much more pressing things to do like adding more RNG-boxes for you to buy. Rofl-stomps that feel like a huge waste of time for both sides happen more frequently. At the core and only at the core this is a good game with potential. Sadly they have weird priorities. I can't justify to spend a single penny for this quality of work they are trying to sell me. And I wasn't a stranger to spending before. They act like this was the only game on the market. It isn't.

    Stimmt schon, aber die 32mm-Schiffe wurden ja nicht rausgepatcht. Hab auch nie behauptet dass sei ein typisches Gefecht gewesen.

    Das einzige Interessante, dass ich aus der Existenz dieser Werbung ziehen kann ist: Die U-Boote werden kommen, ob sie funktionieren oder nicht. CV-Rework 2.0, haben wir ein Glück dass WG aus Fehlern lernen kann.

    Es ist besser die Duplikate erst einzusetzen wenn man genug für den Abschluss der ganzen Sammlung hat. Wenn Du das Objekt ziehst, dass Du aus Duplikaten erstellt hast, bekommst Du ein vermeidbares Duplikat. Und seien wir ehrlich, bei Deinem Glück ziehst Du es garantiert.

    Unmöglich, die sind alle weg geschmolzen. Hast Du nicht gesehen wie viel Dreck aus den Schloten in jedem Gefecht in die Atmosphäre geblasen wird? Also, vor den Eisschollen müssten die Entwickler erstmal Partikelfilter einfügen.

    Genau, waren ja nicht mal 100k Schaden durch die Sekundäre hier: Du kannst den Durchschnittsspieler gerne als wirkungslos betiteln, die sekundäre Artillerie ist es nicht. Zugegeben, es ist heutzutage nicht einfach in die Position zu kommen die Sek vernünftig wirken zu lassen. Aber gerade das macht den Reiz dieser suboptimalen GK-Skillung (Fun-Build) für mich aus. Das entspricht dem Schwierigkeitsgrad 'schwer' während Smolensk, Belfast und Konsorten den Schwierigkeitsgrad 'Gähn' haben. Über die Schiffs-Stufe, -Klasse, und Deinen individuellen Schiffs-Build kannst Du den Schwierigkeitsgrad recht fein einstellen, sollte also nix zu meckern geben. Wenn's für den GK nicht reicht kann man immer noch Bismarck, Gneisenau, Bayern oder König spielen.
