Alaska is about the AP, Azuma HE. A ship can't fit your play style, you have to fit your play style to the ship. Or not, you don't have to be good with all ships.

According to wowsnumbers Enty and GZ were the only ones with perfect rank 1 (36 battles, 100%). With Kaga, Impla, Lexi no one managed to get 100%, Shokek only 1 and he played other ships as well. The best players with Lexi, Shokek, Saipan finished in the 90% region, Impla 80s and Kaga 70s. I was very wrong with Kaga, should have looked at stats first.

Wrong, the 3 best tier 8 ships for 1v1 are Enterprize, Graf Zeppelin, Kaga/Shokaku. You only win against CVs when their players make mistakes. All CVs I did encounter were bad at aiming which was the only reason you and me (Hipper) had a chance to win against them. You don't need any AA skills for them to die to flak as was said multiple times in this thread. Also, this 1v1 had a lot of islands and close quarters so it naturally favours brawlers when it comes to non-CVs. An open 1v1 would play out differently.

I did reset both RU DD lines because I never really played them after the line split. Reset both IJN DD lines and couldn't be arsed after a couple of games, free xped to Colbert and will never look at RB again.

Whack the enemy CV's AA so you can torp him later.

Always dodge, do not trade HP for (fast way to) caps. Cap and run to win on points. This works if he sits far away from the caps. If he pushes in you should rush him. If he is in position to contest caps you have to scare him away before you run. If he is a CV unicum none of this works. Well, you can root for glorious autopilot to help you out I guess. He is too close to the cap for me to leave after capping, I scare him away with gunfire. Now run run run so his planes take longer to get to me while the points are ticking. Hipper against Enterprise: 20191231_181702_PGSC108-Hipper_18_NE_ice_islands.wowsreplay He prevents me from getting both caps. He is too close to the caps, I can't leave. One cap isn't enough anyway, he can kill me long before I reach 1000 points. He allowed me to do a lot of damage to him, I can kill him soon. He realizes he has to go dark, I chase him to keep him detected. I only won because the CVs misplayed. Saipan suicided straight into the cap. Shokaku failed to kill me even though he had more than enough time for that after that devastating AP strike. Why didn't he repeat that strike? Lucky shot that he couldn't reproduce? Enterprise shouldn't have allowed me to shoot him for so long, he could have run straight north in cover of the island at EF4 and it would have been gg.

Hipper, Ranked out in 40 with 4 Defeats to Takao, Cleveland, Hipper, Tirpitz, each one of these because I am a potato sometimes. Won against a Saipan (torped in cap), Shokaku (he got 3 citadels on first strike, won on cap points just before he could kill me), Enterprise (killed him with guns only just before he could kill me). DDs have no chance in this mode if you don't let them rush you.

He is the CV rework equivalent of a flat-earther. Sure, everyone has an opinion and everyone is allowed to speak, that's what a forum is for. However, facts beat opinion. If you want to argument against facts you need actual arguments. He hasn't showed one bit of evidence for his claims. He repeatedly shows with his posts in other topics that he has no understanding of basic game mechanics and somehow he still thinks he can teach players who know all the ins and outs.

True, that has been said in this thread multiple times. Most CV players are terrible while a few skilled players make your life hell no matter what you play. I'm sorry, I disagree. CVs are too strong against all ship classes, not only DDs. Rockets kill DDs, AP bombs and rockets kill cruisers, BBs are easy targets as well. It is hard to win a battle with all DDs dead but it isn't impossible, especially when there is a CV for spotting. DDs aren't too weak, CVs are too strong. The fact that DDs have a low survivability comes from terrible players who don't know what they are doing. There is no need to buff DDs, you don't want to buff my Yugumo, do you? No, if you buff cruiser concealment you run into problems with stealth radaring DM and Worcester. Why not nerf BB concealment by 1 - 2 km instead?

Ye, that's why I shot down 88 Enterprise planes with my zero AA Hipper. It has absolutely nothing to do with the CV player being absolute trash.

Potatoes just sit behind an island and lose on points. With RPF and the frequency of planes coming in you can determine his position pretty well. Make sure he is not in position to sail into the caps before you run away, a couple of shots are enough to scare him away. Good CV players push in without giving you the opportunity to wreck them or they just outright kill you in time, you have no chance to win.

You are a troll. If you would like to prove otherwise just show us your stats or ask one of the CV unicums for a duel (let's hope one of them can be arsed). You can pick the ships and even the map, spec all your precious AA skills, make a video and post it here. You can't make all those claims without showing any evidence for it.
