so, here we got an actual and "almost perfect" example: came back after years, only a few games. besides the cv thing a tutorial may would've at least hold him a bit of longer ingame. however, he's probably one out of many and one of the few that bothered enough to post on forums.

errm... well it should've been in from release on and mandatory on top. that simple. or via campaign (reward backed), as f.e. in the very 1st operation flashpoint. barely ever had such a genius game in terms of gameplay, in which actually the campaign is the tutorial . question here is: who would stick around longer and probably would spend more? someone getting in, buying a tirpitz after a couple of games and having no clue while getting wrecked on and on on higher tiers, or someone whos introduced smoothly into the mechanics and not only advances in tier, but also in skill so to say. i guess it'S clear what my bet would be on, at least one not could say one not did try.... and all these vids and stuff not even smells like trying in my book. it rather smells like generating audience, what not necssarily caters the game in the long run, if all this audience steps in and be gone right away, aye? edit: also the given approach with vids rather seems to aim for players interested ngh in the game to actually watch them (as said, i'm not one of them ). "new" players not necessarily check yt on each new game? as for me, install and go is the way. it's meant to be leisure time at least lol. why should i bother to check vids on a game that makes a somehow unblanced or even cheat-contending impression? i just gonna uninstall right away and check the next, that simple. and if now in the process in getting into the game and getting a glimpse there would be a given path ingame to give a "look behind the curtain", i'm way sure the game would benefit more from than from what we have. even the forums would win... no more "cheetah" threads #weegeeluvsIFS

i did that once. picked a guy up from forum and went for a turn. he kinda ignored every hint i gave him inmatch, got wrecked quite quick and never been seen again. that self-educating community might would workl in a community with the need to communicate. we don't have such. many players seem just to load up for a few and be gone again, like until a week later. tutorials are a way more reliant in terms of establishing a wide spread "skill-level"/level of understanding of simplest game mechanics. u won't establish a standard by offer, u will by give a path'n lead so to say. it's kind of the same princip, the broadcasting is just wider and more inclusive. on a sidenote: i learned this game the hard way. i hardly do yt for gaming vids (nor most other stuff than music), i did not watch tourneys. i got some hints from forums and mostly that's been it. while still i managed to score 5 kills in my very 1st stock fuso match ages ago , i absolutely felt tuts missing and had a rather long way to go that could've been way shorter. the frustration been real and not every player is stubborn as this one

tbh, imo this deserves a more official statement. why can't we have nice things like a "simple" tutorial to lower the skillgap and raise gaming experience for everyone? this just became more of a question indeed with all the rumble around the cv rework and points stated with aim on exactely that, lowering the skillgap. why not finally bring tuts so every class gets such treatment, including a tut for cv's? @MrConway

u mean via simple things like set number of planes, autodrop potatoes and simple fixes like +/-1 mm for cv's (oh, only cv's each 2 tiers now, yay....), auto recall time/max moving range for squads (fuel) or AA adjustments?! yep, absoluetly... coz, at least in that scenario i could hug an atlanta and be sure he'd wreck all those juicy planes.... i mean really: now we get immunity times in a non buff/debuff pvp and slingshots.... it's pathetic, just as all their attempts "to make it work" lol. nvm, we've been on that b4...

i tend to agree by now (and been on that side b4). i can see nothing really that would make this kind of interaction work on a fair basis. without things like slingshots. i just got wrecked in my atlanta by an enterprise... helped out by a good junk from an enemy bb, but still: on like 3 attack runs that big-E lost 12 planes. on use of defAA and a full AA spec atlanta... they simply screwed it more up than rts ever been in the end and now try to "live"-push in shape what just is too fat for the given suit imho. and as much as i'm fine with having cv's ingame in general, as much i start to get annoyed hard by the way they are and the number of matches in which they occur...

while u got a point there it at least would take any chance of having further impact even though spotted on the match. other ships still can fulfill purposes in such situations, while cv's simply would be left with the chacne to dodge. as trade in for being able to fly planes?... hmmmm, maybe. i fear though it wouldn't stop the majority of potatoes from run storm on wg's channels, as it wouldn't lower the skill ceiling. on the other hand i could imagine it to be a most welcome change from all the cv haters. but i can't see how it could make cv's more popular. btw: yet off today 2 matches. 1st in le terrible, 2 t8 cv's each side, being toptier. guess whome they picked on from start on the weak side, accompanied by t6 AA ... well then, up on defAA roon... 2 cv's picking me up on start on weak flank. lost 23 planes and wrecked me under fire... lately i not had much probs with cv's, but today got me the bill instantly -

yeah, but cv captns are off their ship most of the time. while the hull itself mostly is driven by autopilot. no wasd hacks, not good! also, mostly the cv itself kinda stays back while captn is busy somewhere else. so, no torp indicators if dd is closeby and on other ships like in other classes, where u are on ur ship all the time and can have awareness of the closeby surroundings. a bit the plane thing changes actual combat screen with minimap... somehow -

hey mate, i'll give it a try ;P: in one of the most "classic" showoffs it would render cv totally defencelss. dd with AA off closing up to torp would be like imposible to spot if no other ships around. that might be workable with on a playerbase that knows how to play. but we mostly don't got that (....yeeee.... ok.... goes for the dd as well ...). on top comes the cv autopilot. or imagine latematch when cv is only survivor, facing enemy ships with AA all off?... the endless tears from lonley borderhug cv's would lead to only pros playin cv's "like before" (nonsense ofc lol), or simply the extinction of the class. i see the point of benefits from introducing planes like a hybrid class into surface combat, but i see no way how it could work (or even work good) in allday game. ...#clanhug -

..... tbh, i'm so sick&tired of this "balancing" progress and all this "lets up here a bit, there down a bit" while the whole system has fail built in immanent imho. and all coz U (not u personal ofc), the players, evidently not been capable of handling woat i did as a like 10 years old kid in the 1st c&c iteration..... we had like the "perfect" solution for an avatar like an aircraftcarrier! and here we are now, as predicted, with all the old problems (spotting as example) simply shifted into the new gameplay and a ton of new ones on top... being solved with CRAP like "immunity times".... in a non buff/debuff pvp environment. IT'S DISGUSTING really in my eyes! it's the lowest possible work "solution" in an environment that isn't made for such! nvm... if i gonna keep on typing i most probalby will have to get a new keyboard, as one might get the spitten out stuff off the keys.... but never the smell.... hear me WG?!.. u can't get rid off the smell.......................... /rant- 39 replies
