[Balance] 2 CVs per team is too much.
dasCKD replied to anonym_PYC0RAuRIwe4's topic in General Discussion
Two carriers per team is annoying. Against one carrier player, the match is a set of mind games. With two carrier players, the match devolves into gigantic blobs of planes that are annoying to track. -
SF nerf: USN DDs, why play them? How?
dasCKD replied to Dutch_Amsterdam's topic in General Discussion
The question really is why would you play the USN destroyers with stealth fire? They're some of the worst ships for that tactic. Their guns and turning circles are built for high intensity knife fights, and their torpedoes are excellent for all other occasions. They're hybrids, not gunboats. -
Discussion thread for "some interesting info around the world"
dasCKD replied to Deamon93's topic in General Discussion
I would be fine with it if they left the armor as is if they just made it so that the guns were insanely good. As in, the 203s would be Zao-esque (though not on alpha damage) and the Henrietta leaving the Moskva in the dust to become basically a battleship's guns with faster reload, cruiser accuracy, and the best arcs in the game. The hectic glass cannon style of play would at least make them exciting ships to play. As they are now, the French are just really really bad. -
Which forum members have you seen in random battles?
dasCKD replied to Cobra6's topic in General Discussion
Me, Kann, and Kleine met Dropsiq in the Baguette. He elucidated in great detail about his thoughts on her. We didn't get the pleasure of sinking Dropsiq and the Baguette however, we were a bit preoccupied with the center of the map. -

Which forum members have you seen in random battles?
dasCKD replied to Cobra6's topic in General Discussion
I met FTD in his Des Moines. I was going into the cap to greet him, but he just ran away. Awfully rude of him I'm sure you'd agree. I died quite soon after unfortunately because my gun didn't turn quickly enough. -
Manual drop and 0.6.3 – experienced CV player feedback
dasCKD replied to Ishiro32's topic in General Discussion
We'll all pretend to be surprised. The newbies will complain. They'll either entirely reverse the chance, making the episode entirely pointless or extend the manual fire embargo up to tier 6, then tier 7, then tier 8. And we'll all pretend to be shocked and surprised that that didn't work all over again.- 225 replies

Kaga to be introduced as Tier VII(Premium?) in WoWS, according to Japanese stream
dasCKD replied to ShortySunderland's topic in Aircraft Carriers
I'd take the longer activation time for a 48 knot torpedo set. I think it would be a good change for the IJN carriers in general, harder to use but more potent at trapping destroyers. -

dasCKD replied to ShortySunderland's topic in Aircraft Carriers
If the Kaga performs too well, I do hope that they'll give the Hiryu back her tier 7 torpedo bombers. Her planes are far too fragile right now. -

WG's plan to Facilitate High-Tiered Carrier Seal Clubbing
dasCKD posted a topic in General Discussion
I have recently returned from the test server, and f*cking awful is an understatement to end all understatements. So, emergency post it is. Oh, and quick message to the forum mods : THIS IS NOT A GUIDE. DO NOT MOVE IT. War Gaming's Cretinous Design Concepts To be perfectly honest, War Gaming probably had no idea what to do with carriers. This was something that was made evident with the introduction of the Hakuryus strike deck. For those who are not aware, the Hakuryu used to run a strike deck with a flight control module of 0/5/3. Translating for those who are unfamiliar with carriers and putting it into the context of the game, if that deck existed in the game right now as it did back then then the Hakuryu can one-shot two of the three tier X battleships in the game right now with just above half of her strike deck and without the need for any fires and flooding to help them on their way. War Gaming quickly realized that releasing a ship that would have made a tier 2 Imperator Nikolai seem balanced was a terrible idea, and went ahead to start making extreme changes to carriers. Whether these changes were of necessity (taking away the Haky's strike deck/ giving cruisers defensive fire), annoying (taking away the 2 torpedo bombers from the Essex and Midway), short sighted (buffing battleship AA), or outright insane is largely a point of personal opinion. Unless that opinion is mine, which is automatically the validist and correctest points ever made =P. To put it simply, War Gaming has no idea what to do with carriers. I was evidently not the only one who was interested in this new carrier system. It took about two minutes to enter a game, something I was willing to wait for as someone who is used to waiting for 10 or 20 minutes for a game in ranked thanks to my choice of ship class. Besides, people are curious. I can't fault them for that. I quickly switched over to settings after I finally got into the match, turning on the new mouse interface mode. The minutes that followed were filled my room with the inhuman screeching and foaming at the mouth that would put most demonic possessions to shame, so I'll spare the forum members here the details. Needless to say I nearly had to leave my apartment for the third time today to go purchase a new keyboard. Before I go into any details however, I would like to cover something that the university would have failed me for if I tried to pull off as a student. I'm not sure how many of you have ever played Starcraft or any other strategy game. Left mouse button is for selecting and deselecting units. Right mouse button is for guiding units. Attack, defend, escort, or interact commands are all context sensitive. Anything else can also be manually ordered. Therefore you would click ON a target to order an attack. The reason for this is simple: you point at what you want your units to attack. You may be wondering why I am fixating on something so simple. It's because they manage to screw THAT up! As it is when I was playing on the test server, you don't click ON the unit to order an attack. You click ABOVE a target to attack a unit. You know, where the health bar and the username is. Yes, because when I think intuitive UI, I think that I shouldn't actually click ON the object I want to interact with but instead I should click the object next to it! Genius! Why hasn't Apple, Google, and Facebook offered you billions to acquire your UI designers yet War Gaming? Seeing as how you managed to come up with such concepts that are so beyond human comprehension! Let's switch over to the 6.3 patch notes for now and see what we have for us to look at shall we? What you mean is that you switched the RMB to the LMB. I could have done that in 5 seconds with the client we have right now. Tell me dear, are you that stupid or do you think I'm that stupid? Because those are the only two options I could think off right now. No they're not. I played the public test. Same janky design. Or maybe they are more responsive in manual mode. I wouldn't know. YOU REMOVED MANUAL DROPS! I quite frankly can't stomach it for long enough to find out, and I say this as someone who grinded my way through the German tier 5, 6, and 8 destroyers manually. Oh how gracious of you War Gaming! You just blew off an old man's legs, but instead of super-gluing some splintery wooden rods onto the stumps that used to be his legs you tied the splintery stumps with some soft padding instead! How generous of you! Let's take a look at the reduced travel distances for torpedoes shall we? Oh no War Gaming! Are you sure you want to improve the autodrop that much? That Kirov might need to start turning about 3 or 4 seconds after the torpedoes are already in the water to avoid literally every single torpedo! Oh my! That is SUCH a HUGE improvement to a carrier's player experience! I see why you were so quick to add this new feature! The rest of the 'fixes' are cleaning up your screw ups that should have been fixed even before the changes went live. It's like waiting for six months before you fix a bug that changes the ammunition types on a battleship just before you're about to fire. Or a bug that makes your destroyers randomly deploy smoke. Or a carrier bug that makes it so that you can't deselect your carrier without an annoying three action procedure so you end up accidentally end up sending your carrier into the middle of the map where all the enemies are. Wait, no. THAT'S STILL IN THERE! The only thing that has improved in this patch is the German destroyers and your pandering to the clueless cretin demographic. I'm not going to go through the cliche of threatening to leave the game or saying that the game is doomed, but to say that this patch makes you look bad is beyond an understatement. Rant over. -
Neptune the worse tier Ix ship in game do you agree?
dasCKD replied to EMILY_FINEBOTTOM's topic in General Discussion
I don't have the Neptune myself OP, but I struggle to see how a ship could exceed the Baltimore in terms of pure awfulness or the Izumo in terms of pure irritation. -
I usually manage to hurt myself if I'm having a particularly bad day. Not deliberately, but the table is considerably harder than my fist. I'll have to clean up the blood later though. My mouse sensitivity is being messed with.

Yes, sometimes it's just impossible to carry hard enough.

should torpedoes get buffed for Destoryersin this patch
dasCKD replied to Reisen__'s topic in General Discussion
The German destroyer's torpedoes are perfectly acceptable for what they are. The USN's torpedoes at tier 9 is in fact a little too powerful for a universal line. The IJN needs a concealment buff though. The torpedoes are nearly unusable, especially when the battleship stacks vigilance with the acquisition mod. -
WG's plan to Facilitate High-Tiered Carrier Seal Clubbing

I don't want players like that anywhere near me. Unless they're in ranked, at which point they're allowed to play as much as they want. -
smoke device on british cruisers

Smoke for Zao to compensate for stealth fire nerf pls -
Can corroborate. Chat bugs out and refuses to take letter inputs whilst in a carrier.
-
"Improvements" sure. Let's go with that. Awful beyond belief. The changes regarding the manual removal of alt dropping made things even worse. The controls introduced bugs into the game that weren't there before. There was no perceivable improvement to the performance of automatic drops. Have all of these changes reversed IMMEDIATELY.

What's wrong with CV's and why 6.3 won't be fixing it. (By Femennenly)
dasCKD replied to Horin728's topic in General Discussion
I think that if that is the primary concern, strafing should have its effectiveness nerfed at the lower tiers and WG should institute a 1 carrier per team rule across the entire game. -
WG's plan to Facilitate High-Tiered Carrier Seal Clubbing
dasCKD replied to dasCKD's topic in General Discussion
No. If played correctly, they're arguably the strongest carriers in the game. The problem is that this is the wrong way to address the issue. Lower their alpha. Make their squads smaller. Change the FCS to make them less lethal to enemy ships. Just don't do this crap which is the game design equivalent of sticking two fingers into your ears and 'lalala~ing' all the way home. -
What's wrong with CV's and why 6.3 won't be fixing it. (By Femennenly)
dasCKD replied to Horin728's topic in General Discussion
That's a terrible idea. It teaches bad habits and gives newer players the wrong idea of what their primary duties are as a carrier player. In this game, doing damage is your primary duty in all classes, protecting your allies from damage is secondary. The reason for this is simple. You will always fail to do some of the damage you want to do or you will fail at protecting your allies from the damage completely. When you failed to do all of the damage you wanted to do, you are still advancing your team's chance of success. When you are doing nothing but trying to protect you allies, you are simply slowing the inevitable crawl of the enemy team towards their victory. Teaching carrier players to play defensively is perhaps the worst thing you can do. First you need to teach a player what they should be doing, then you should teach them how to stop the enemy from doing it. That is the correct order to this. -

dasCKD replied to Horin728's topic in General Discussion
What do you think of defensive fire on low tiered cruisers from tier 4 and up, like the Yubari has? Their AA is nowhere near strong enough to really melt planes the same way a Cleveland can, and newer carrier captains will be able to learn about defensive fire before facing the AA monsters at tier 6 and 7. It would also mean that lower tiered cruiser captains have more of a chance to protect themselves. -
Is it a good Idea to remove Manual Atacks for low Tir CVs
dasCKD replied to Spellfire40's topic in General Discussion
The topic doesn't exist in some vacuum where carriers only occupy and where no equivalence exists within any ship class. Carriers at the lower tiers also can't one-shot lower tiered battleships. They're too short to be one-shotted. Low tiered cruisers and destroyers CAN be one shotted, but if they're going to let that happen to them then they should learn to deal with it whilst the ships are still cheap and the games are still short. This moronic chance does NOTHING to address carrier seal clubbing. It simply sweeps the problem to the tier V/VI bracket. I've seen Kongos and New Yorks swimming around, shooting HE at cruisers all game long. I've also seen battleship players who get hit with a torpedo at full health before flooding to death without making any effort to use damage control. Experienced players have intrinsic advantages over newer players that extends far beyond just player skill. The appropriate action is to educate the learning players, not to gimp players who are trying to improve their abilities. It's not a topic I am interested in. A Wyoming can implode a Caledon, but then a Nagato can also implode a Myoko. A Caledon who does nothing but sails forwards and gets imploded will make some credits. A Myoko who does the same thing will lose money very quickly. Ships should learn to deal with threats when the ships are still cheap and where player skill matters most. Neither is 'CVs are overpowered'. It's nothing but an unsubstantiated meme by this point. Because That signature is a joke. It's a reference to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First_they_came_... It was made long ago, when I believed that anything short of a community uprising would make War Gaming listen. -
WG's plan to Facilitate High-Tiered Carrier Seal Clubbing
dasCKD replied to dasCKD's topic in General Discussion
You are assuming that people have to be personally affected by a change to take exception to it. My lowest carrier is a tier 6, the Ryujo, and I only have her for low tiered competitive. I still need to grind out a 10 point captain for her, something I still haven't done because the Ryujo is a pain to play. I don't have a single carrier in my port that would be affected by this change, yet I have seen plenty of Shokakus and Taihos who autodrop by default even with the game as it is right now and I just shiver when I think about the future. I might easily become a 80% WR in my carriers thanks to this change, but that doesn't change the fact that any of the other 90% of the matches I play in my other non-carrier ships would be absolutely miserable. Carriers at the lower tiers were arguably overpowered when operated by a good captain. Now? They're about as dangerous as a Kurfurst who is sitting at 25 km with the range mod and a spotter plane. Addendum: I go down to the lower tiers to seal club when I'm with clan mates or when I want more captain XP flags.
