USS Missouri will become unavailable with 0.7.2 (roughly 2 months from now), a new T9 BB will take its place
dasCKD replied to MrFingers's topic in General Discussion
Whilst that's an attractive reason, I would much prefer another ship. A premium Taiho, Saint Louis, Roon or Fantasque in the future would make a far better tier IX premium and significantly more fun. The Iowa battleships in general are just poor compared to ships like the Alabama or North Carolina. It's just like the Belfast, it's a stupid combination of consumables on an otherwise painfully mediocre ship. I really am looking forwards to a jamming consumable. -

Not sure why anyone would actually want a Missouri, save for the broken radar on the battleship thing. All of the tier 9 battleships are pretty awful, with a possibly exception of the Lion. -
LWM review of Duke of York is up on US forums
dasCKD replied to Ryouzanpakku's topic in General Discussion
No no no. Don't you know, if a class is better than a battleship at anything then that ship is unbalanced and overpoweredTM? No, battleships must all have 30 seconds or less turret rotation speed, the top speed of at least 35 knots, the RoF of a cruiser, and the same armor and health pool they have now for balanceTM! No torpedoes though, because torpedoes are bourgeois. -
WG is cannibalizing the game for fast money. Will suffer in long term.

I like the new camos. I find lower tiers in general tedious and would rather minimize my time with them so I can get the tier Xs faster. -
I remember one enjoyable game on this map. It was Epicenter, in a Taiho, where I capped the center to completion.

Battle of the River Plate - wot no RN Cruisers?

Just make a Fiji with radar and heal but no smoke. -
Sounds like fun, I'll like to join. Graf Zeppelin, Kidd if if she's not available, Alabama if the Kidd isn't avaliable Mutsu Doubloons By the way, is it possible to join the giving as well?

Which Ships you would you like to find in a supercontainer (but never buy) ?
dasCKD replied to Favuz's topic in General Discussion
Graf Zeppelin or Kid. -
I buy and play premium ships largely for variety. I bought them originally to train captains, but elite captain XP has rendered that pointless. Now I just play premium ships because I think they're fun or funny i.e. the Atlanta.
-
North Carolina, tier by tier, is probably the best battleship in the game. The Edinburgh is a mediocre cruiser at best, on paper she seems vastly superior to the Fiji but she will inherently have to deal with battleships with far more accurate guns, and cruisers with some of the most lethal radar suites in the game.

so. much. SALT!!!!!

The Pensacola, in hindsight, is actually probably the best traditional cruiser at tier 7 tied with the Myoko. She's just extremely difficult to play, but she does train you for the higher tiered American ships that requires significantly better positioning than any other nation's cruisers as they live for ambushes and engaging enemies that can't return fire.

I wish my Hindenburg had 32.5 knots, it's annoying to be outran by battleships in a cruiser.

No free captain redistribution after USN carrier change?
dasCKD replied to Sargento_YO's topic in General Discussion
I would if I could quite frankly. -
I actually like the period of high destroyers, it's much more relaxing for me as an artillery ship. It's something of an insurance policy: if you have 5 destroyers on your team then that increases the chances of at least 1 of them not being a complete idiot who can spot and be used to contest caps after the rest of my team's destroyers decided that it would be a brilliant idea to gunfight a Des Moines in a pair of Fletchers with 0 battleship support and only the aid of a half-health Atago lagging about 8 kilometers behind them.

Will BBs still be viable after 6.14 is out?
dasCKD replied to Technocrat_Prime's topic in General Discussion
The potato is a starchy, tuberous crop from the perennial nightshade Solanum tuberosum. The word "potato" may refer either to the plant itself or to the edible tuber. In the Andes, where the species is indigenous, some other closely related species are cultivated. Potatoes were introduced to Europe in the second half of the 16th century by the Spanish. Potato has become a staple food in many parts of the world and an integral part of much of the world's food supply. It is the world's fourth-largest food crop, following maize, wheat, and rice. The green leaves and green skins of tubers exposed to the light are toxic. Wild potato species can be found throughout the Americas from the United States to southern Chile. The potato was originally believed to have been domesticated independently in multiple locations, but later genetic testing of the wide variety of cultivars and wild species proved a single origin for potatoes in the area of present-day southern Peru and extreme northwestern Bolivia (from a species in the Solanum brevicaule complex), where they were domesticated approximately 7,000–10,000 years ago. Following millennia of selective breeding, there are now over a thousand different types of potatoes. Over 99% of the presently cultivated potatoes worldwide descended from varieties that originated in the lowlands of south-central Chile, which have displaced formerly popular varieties from the Andes. However, the local importance of the potato is variable and changing rapidly. It remains an essential crop in Europe (especially eastern and central Europe), where per capita production is still the highest in the world, but the most rapid expansion over the past few decades has occurred in southern and eastern Asia. As of 2014, China led the world in potato production, and, together with India, produced 37% of the world's potatoes. -
Everyone who says that the IJN carriers will eat USN carriers for lunch is objectively wrong and should be treated as such. The air command of the Midway, already superior to the Hakuryu, will now be complimented by the fact that the Midway will unequivocally eclipse the Hakuryu in both striking power and air control. The tier 8 torpedo bombers will struggle against Conquerors and Montanas, but if used to follow up a dive bomber strike will result in just about anything else that's not a high tiered cruiser or defensive AA armed Grozhevoi or Gearing being ripped to pieces which the Hakuryu can't boast as she loses out in both the alpha damage of each separate torpedo bomber and the tightness of the drop that would make it far easier for a Midway to put an end to a destroyer's shenanigans. A Taiho is at least somewhat balanced with the Essex. The Taihou maintains superior striking weight and the ability to better deal with destroyers whilst the Essex will dominate in aerial point command. She can't chase down the Taiho's fighters however, meaning that she will have to play somewhat more defensively and one torpedo bomber means that her strike weight is considerably lower even with the vastly superior dive bombers. The Midway and the Hakuryuu right now are in a state that somewhat resembles balance, the next patch will result in that advantage entirely tipping in the Midway's favor.

Look, CVs have been screwed over constantly but this situation is kind of your fault.
-
Oh, and one more thing. The Midway's lower win rate is NOT because of any shortage in her air power.

The USN carriers, in this patch, has just been significantly buffed. The Midway, previously already having the superior air control ability, now also has the superior strike power in all respects. If anything, the Midway's fighters needs a nerf in her fighters. As she is, I have no reason to prefer the Hakuryuu over her.

Then switch to HE, or just aim at a cruiser. You have the range.
-
\(-_-)\ /(-_-)/ \(-_-)\ /(-_-)/ She also has awful AP penetration, light shells that lobes at long ranges, and, oh yeah, NO RADAR. The Moskva isn't as good at HE spamming as the tier X HE spammer? WHAT AN OUTRAGE! She has lazy shells. Also, heavy HE shells? You DO realize that high explosive penetration isn't affected by shell weight, right? She has the best HE delivery system in the game. Those shells are also fired out of a ship with its own advantages. Moskva has one of the highest cruise speed and, as mentioned, a radar suite that the Zao and Hindy both lacks. Her AP shells are also arguably the best out of any tier X cruiser. Would you accept a nerf to the Moskva's AP if her HE was buffed? Neither can anything that isn't a Hindy. The Henri has even bigger guns and she still has the same poor penetration. This seems to have slipped your mind. WOT? WOTWOTWOTWOTWOT? Which is different from the Des Moines and Henri how? That's 2/3 of her firepower compared to the Zao's and Hindy's 1/2. The Moskva, unlike the DM, can also effectively kite which means you can use all your guns as you please as long as you play her correctly. As does any cruiser. And the thickest side plating and deck armor. And one of the tightest turning circle of any tier X cruiser despite being one of the biggest with the largest health pool. Which never happens to ships like the DM, Minotaur, or Henri. Of course. And why are you bringing this up? What does the belt armor have to do with the HE performance? That's a German thing, to compensate for their awful HE. Radar is the Russian thing, along with 50 mm plate and deck armor. Would you honestly tell me that you would surrender either of those for the 1/4 HE rule?

Consequences? For Battleships? What is this, 2015? -
How to shutdown/outplay the Taiho in a stock Essex???
dasCKD replied to Battleship_USS_Arizona's topic in Aircraft Carriers
You use your superior striking power to cut down any capital ships with any funny ideas about flanking and keep the fighter over your fleet to intercept the Taiho's attempts against your fleet and aggravate him into making stupid mistakes. Using your fighters to push an attack through a Taiho's air defenses is all but impossible, so just strike where the Taiho is not and shave down any attempts at striking your ships. This, of course, only works if your destroyers aren't complete idiots which is something of a high order in randoms. Just FXP your way through at least the aircraft upgrades and then perhaps wait until the CV update gives you a bit more fighter power. -

She could be interesting. Fast, nice big guns, excellent sigma, and none of the BS 'what HE?' German BB armor.
