Whatever works. You could tell that as well to Mogami drivers before WG nerfed it... Every ship has its strong and weak points. York's AP is still useful and very deadly against all who dare to show their side. Yes it requires more skill than eg. Myoko to be appreciated, but in skilled hands is deadly opponent.

A lot comes trom the failed expectations after Königsberg/Nürnberg, also York requires more conscious play, to be as fun as its predecessors. Simply put - York is like a good old wine. Before you can apreciate its taste, you need to drink enough of wine in your life. Unless you don't like wine...

Requirement to get the achievement is to inflict damage above 50% of its normal health. He might had been hit by another ship as well, that's why all of his health was not attributed to you. With single salvo, not within a couple of seconds. You can inflict damage equal to even 80% of his health by striking target both with torpedoes and shells and you're not going to get the achievement. Edit: It turns out description is a bit misleading, and it is indeed damage inflicted within a certain timeframe.

What is determining a “good player?” (he/she)
Skyllon replied to Ferry_25's topic in General Discussion
Ones that want to improve, listen to the friendly advise, cooperate, are willing to discuss strategy, are polite and friendly, don't rage in chat and don't spam it, are not abusive to others and... Oh boy. I think I have described the unicorn! -
Well, you never know what future will bring. Just because in you eyes there is something wrong with Shimakaze now, doesn't mean there still will be in couple of months. There are new things being introduced to the game, which still is in its early days. Think of weather for example and limited visibility that might come with it. In the meantime there are other ships to play.
-
Just my two eurocents... Weather should be set on start of the match and last for its entire duration (or vary between halves of the match, but should not change more often). I understand (and hope) it is still in development stage so we might expect changes to its mechanics, but whatever they are going to be, you should also consider implementing different weather effects (like - squall, fog, heavy snowfall, sandstorm) with corresponding gameplay impact. It would be also nice to see night battles at some point. Good job so far, though. It is a nice start.

Is the MM purposely retarded or can the WG devs just not do maths?
Skyllon replied to kbb07142's topic in Archive
It is not weather effects that are dumb, but the way they are implemented is far from being perfect. IMO weather should be set on start of the match and last for its entire duration. As its impact on gamplay goes, it affects visibility on North and the reason it is only on one map, (I guess) is due to test player reaction and gather information for future development. In future we should expect to see weather impacting gameplay on other maps also. I'd love to see various iterations of weather (like - squall, fog, heavy snowfall, sandstorm) with different impact on gameplay. And night maps of course. -
Okey seriously im pink after 1 accident
Skyllon replied to Shizzlesticksz's topic in General Discussion
IMO there should be more than one tone of pink, so everyone could easily tell if they deal with a serious offender or just a poor soul in unfortunate situation. Pink could get darker (or lighter) with every consecutive offense and if period between kills is long enough (like a week or so) it should revert to starting tone for the first kill in a row. BTW I'm still waiting for any youtuber to post a video made up from most unfortunate teamkills. Should be called: '50 shades of pink'... EDIT: It is cool idea. 'Forgive' option would be sufficient though, as system would punish offender automatically. -

Nah... His friend just told him he picked up Battlefield Earth for the movie night.... -
Don't worry about staying pink. Play couple random battles and after you do enough damage, things will get back to normal. As far as other players go, there is no point in getting in discussion with them. Just tell them it was random thing and they don't have to be afraid. Although some people might even shoot at you, or try to get on your nerves in other way, but best approach is just to ignore them. Don't shoot back at them though, as it will only take longer to get back from being pink. Teamkills sometimes happen in the heat of battle. Even your secondaries might be responsible for that (eg. some random, low health player gets between you and enemy ship under fire from your secondary armament). In future be more cautious with torps (we all been there) and everything will be ok.

I've come across this issue (unpacking) being raised up by people several times, but I'm pretty sure there are factors at play beyond only game update mechanics. I utilise fairly old rig for gaming (P965 chipset with 7200k HDD put together 8 years ago) and unpacking (most recent updates) never lasted longer than maybe 5 minutes in worst case. Patience is a virtue you know. My new fresh install is running for the last 10 hours (currently have 60 KB download speed) and reached 59%.

It is becoming offtopic, but with average number of unprovoked attacks for the last 25 years, like 11 or 12 per year and many of those ending up with only bruises, I'm inclined to say there is nothing to talk about... As for the people who got injured - as sad and tragic it is - it is not as if shark sneaked up on them and caught them off guard during sleep... Surfers know the risk.

You guys are silly. Those HP don't come out of thin air. It is obvious those were taken out of ''Large Caliber Guns HP Pool'' and added to "Low Caliber Guns HP Pool''. Get real... ;)
-
On contrary. It adds to a challenge and gameplay IMO. But effects should last for the duration of entire battle (if they affect visibility that is, otherwise it doesn't matter). Changes in the file structure were not aimed at high-end machines, but at those that took minimum 1 minute to load a battle. Weather effects are only visual feature. Weather affects visibility only on North map as explained in release notes: ''During the cyclone, the maximum surface spotting/detectability range (ship to ship) is 8 km, and the maximum air spotting/detectability range (ship to aircraft, aircraft to ship, aircraft to aircraft) is 3 km. '' New visuals for fire can be switched off.

But only when you start battle from 'Pirates' port and after your fifth kill... Nice idea, but I'm afraid it would get boring very fast unless there was 'save the survivors' mission implemented alongside... Also although sharks are common feature of the seas, near the tips of the planet Earth it is hypotermia that kills, not maritime biology...

LOL, no problem. We all get it on fridays and early mornings... I actually never had those giants. Oldest I had was 3,5'' 120 MB Quantum (which is still in full working condition btw). I came across 20MB 5,25'' in banking systems back in a day. Not to mention tape drives from 70s... That was something. Since it replaces existing client, hardly possible. After you're done with installation, simply don't log in to game. Premium time is granted for those who log in to game after update, up until 10th of May.
-
Very welcome addition. But I'd rather have one type of weather for the entire battle. Looking forward for bigger waves during bad weather and limited visibility during heavy rain/snow/fog conditions on all maps. And night battles, of course.
-
Since cassettes were storage medium it was more like loading time then installation! Good old times... We were able to go and have a tea... Or even supper, and still make it back long before game loaded! 5,25'' 20 MB hard disks anyone?

[0.5.5] Free "Captain Skill Reset" for IJN DDs T8-10?
Skyllon replied to General_Kunde's topic in General Discussion
Not needed IMO. But as SBS said, it would be nice to be able to retrain captain for credits - be it even for high price like 2 or 3 milion per point. -
How much money have you guys spent on the game?
Skyllon replied to OldschoolGaming_YouTube's topic in General Discussion
In short three words: nought, null, nothing. At this stage of development, It is too early in my opinion to spend money on anything. I'm waiting what future might bring (Nice discounts maybe?) so maybe at some point I will get a ship or two, but it seems to be very distant event... I'm enjoying this game as it is anyway. -
If you have fast internet connection I'd advise to just do fresh install to avoid any technical issues. Since its release game went through couple of big updates - this is major one that not only adds new content to the game, but also makes big changes to client. If you run into problems first thing you are going to get is advise to reinstall the game anyway...

Does 'Engine Boost' increase detection range?
Skyllon replied to Procrastes's topic in General Discussion
Don't watch Jingles for any factual information. Watch him only for his laughter and entertainment. -
Yay, weather! That's something I've been waiting for, for a long time. Just add fog, squall, night encounters and can bother no more with new maps for quite some time - although new content is always welcome. EDIT: With weather impacting visibility, I wonder if we can expect new Captain Perk coming our way.

I've thought about it and came to conclusion if such a tool existed there would be no reason for bot accounts not to be blocked already. Problem Wargaming faces here is if they admit heaving such a tool it would mean they don't see the problem. And at the same time if they say they have no such tool, they'd admit to balancing ships on flawed stats. Loose - loose situation. Only thing possible to say here is - we are aware of the problem and we work hard to address the issue. I have a feeling KptStrzyga only reffers to accounts he mentioned in his first post, not to use number of games played during certain period of time as a tool to filter out bot accounts. IMO what you've said is the exact reason those are not blocked. Without some thinking behind long term solution I wouldn't expect anyone to just make moves like that and block now and then couple of accounts (although it might be required depending on seriousness of situation). Otherwise as you've said - next they there are going to be new accounts but this time limited in number of daily sessions.
