Conqueror vs Montana, both needed nerfs
Ferry_25 replied to nerderklaus's topic in General Discussion
tl:dr. I'm getting a bit tired of this arguments. And I'm really worrying I'll face another useless, nurtured POS ship when I finally have suffered through Lion because Flamu has made 1 epic vid in which all the stars aligned perfectly. Also iChase is whining about the ship. I'm getting a bit tired of this BS. I've been through this in Euneugmato and Losekaze already. Yes in the hands of a somewhat capable player Conq is very good. But please keep your heads cool and don't do anything drastically. FFS I don't want another mediocre POS TX rusting away in my port! FFS don't change anything! A Conqueror can be put down easily. all it requires is teamwork. Focus it out and Wow's will have submarines very quickly. No teamwork? Let me punish that with free BBQ's and whitherers going down my throat. Same goes for Yama. Give it back it's epic heal and let players recognize Yamato is the apex BB and a very dangerous ship. Deal with it together or tremendously suffer the consequences. I'm really getting fed up by sorry @ss whining from bad to mediocre players who cannot get their Kraken in their pathetic smoke. Heck I was oneshot in Zao today by a Yamato. My own fault: I gave full BS while shooting the DD's. I actually felt sorry for the player to give him (her?) a compliment. That should have been a matter of formality: I actually trusted my troll armor. In 99% of the cases is working. What is this game become of if I don't take a Yamato seriously in a cruiser?! -
Ah thanks. Must have read over that.

I like the events and all other operation missions. But only for a few rounds. The Halloween mission this year? Awesome. I so much like the horrible looking cammo's on the ships! Had good fun playing it. Didn't get a five start though. But I don't mind. It's the fun that matters to me. By the way, you think we'll get the upgrades back/ refunded when the event is coming to an end? (Maybe it's in the description and I didn't see that).

I'm not that enthusiast about an upcoming RN DD line just yet. Because I am sincerely wondering if they will be able to launch torpedo's at all.... Might sound silly but we all disregarded the idea cruisers wouldn't get HE as being silly... I also honostly wondered if the BB's were getting AP. Well I wasn't that far off. So I'm afraid it'll be a nurtured line without torpedo's. Which are the teeth of most of all other DD's.

What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?
Ferry_25 replied to Hanszeehock's topic in General Discussion
Despite my presence. Our clan made it to the Gale League!!! I'm so awesomely proud and frankly: going out of my mind!!!! Didn't take CW that seriously when I started it. But I am so happy to be proven wrong. This is the best thing that happened to wows since I started. Awesome matches and in fact the reason why I love playing warships in the first place. Either you prevail as a team or you go down as one. Thank you to my fellow clanmates!!!!! -
omni I never ever see one and then 3 turn up at the same time
Ferry_25 replied to Dragnorak's topic in General Discussion
To their defense I never encountered flamers. What I did notice is they (and other top clans for that matter) tempt to play mainly in competitive mode. Now there are things that might work in that strategy in PvP's. Lot of them aren't. To play all your cards on your cap advantage and try to defend it, hiding behind an island or in perma smoke will quickly bite them in the tail. Because they usually only have 3 div members in their team and the rest are used to plain PvP. So what good does that tactic have when they are the only 3 ships left defending that cap? The most famous (OMNI) player is of course @Flamu. Now I don't like him very much but I highly respect him "professionally." I have learned tons of tricks, tactics, do's and don'ts from him. Also vastly appreciate he is willing to share some "secrets." Like f.e. the new smoke mechanism is working 2 ways... (if you trick a BB in firing at you in a DD, you smoke up: he will continue to be visible because you keep spotting him). I also look at his vids and streams What I loath is his whining because he's being focussed out because they recognize him. Boy, that's the price you'll have to pay and I see you make good money out of your streams. Which of course I grant you with my full heart. but stop bitching about that and laugh it off. Also in lots of those situations he was the most viable target in the first place to delete. I know being cynical is his style but don't overdo it is my advice. Also looking at the "super YT movies" I see I'm not doing that different (not claiming to be as good as he is). F.e. i had a Kurry game on the Mountain range and I was nearly exactly in the same situation as he was with his (pushing up to the A cap, defending my DD capping it). Where he shone I got obliterated in a matter of seconds. I used his proposed build but it doesn't work for me. I have respecced Kurry to secondary. For me it's working like a charm. Statwise I'd say I'm not doing too bad in it: all on the server avg. I get the feeling he's thinking his way is the only way. What I'm trying to say and taking Flamu for an example and no personal attack!: people from the (top)clans are still people and they play the same ships you and I do. So don't get intimidated by some "famous" names/ clantags and do your thing. -
So WG. Still no fix for BB AP against DDs.
Ferry_25 replied to ClappingLollies's topic in General Discussion
OK it seems I've created controversy here (good: I like good debates!). Like I said: I totally agree there is a BB overpop problem. I just don't think removing the pen hits to DD's will solve this problem. Why? the yolo rush I already mentioned. Another is the Russian DD line. The "mach 5 edge of reach pewpewers" like Khaba. Already it's neigh impossible to get rid of when having it's attention. That bloody ship is moving so fast I actually have to zoom out on my aim a bit in order to give it some lead, thus decreasing my accuracy even more. If I don't delete it in a few salvo's it'll chip and burn me down. It's also well armored and has good HP pool. And the pen dmg isn't that common in the first place. So I need that 1 or 2 pens in order to finish it off. I think there is balance for this issue already. Now I have the feeling of a 50-50 chance who will prevail in this encounter, as in the yolo rush. When performed well there is a good chance the DD will get away from it. using WASD and keeping as slim profile as possible and only open up at the last possible moment for the drop. Yes, the BB can still delete you when a AP shell finds it's way through the nose and detonates. Sounds logical to me. No my proposal (and I'm wandering off topic now, I know) is actually a question. The cruisers are mentioned as the "jack of all trades." How is it that cruisers aren't the dominant shiptypes in numbers in the matches? As I see it they are a good counter for DD's, when playing together they can obliterate BB's (crossfire from different angles at longer range HE spam when angled, AP when opened). They can counter each other ( I can hardly remember CA-CA fights which were plain boring) and they had the role of AA platforms. I'm disregarding the "realism argument" and "it will not happen on premiums" for this one. I suggest the following changes. Nerf the AA capabilities for BB's, strip the DD's and BB's from sonar and radar. Leave spotter/ fighters on BB"s and def AA (lower basic AA rating but something to defend for a massive strike). Give the cruisers the AA dominance role back. Remove citadels from cruisers and undo some of the torp nerfs on DD's. Previously we had the same overpop problem with DD's because of the torpedo soup. Now the nerfs overshot it's purpose. Increase the accuracy on BB's guns. This might blow some keyboard but let me explain. I stole this suggestion from the Forum. One of the issues with cruisers is the longrange snipe in the opening phase. You can dodge like a lunatic when being targeted by a BB but there's always that "Angeline Jolie shell" which seems to miraculously curve into your citadel, bouncing from the sea floor rendering you with 500hp for the rest of the match in the second minute). If a salvo is vastly more accurate the dodging start to make sense: either the whole volley will miss or you'll be punished if you don't dodge. That way the "incoming" captain perk is finally starting to make sense. Now it's "detected, oh I'll start my RNG prayer while hitting my WASD's. Because that's my enemy now." I honestly think this will bring back more balance as it was intended in the first place. Leaving open only 1 problem for which I can't find a solution: noob players who refuse to learn. But I think no buff/ nerf/ change/ ban or what else will tackle that one. Furthermore my suggestion will give abled players more ability to carry the noobs. So back to topic: that's why I think making DD's "invulnerable" for BB AP shells will solve the main problem of BB overpop. Heck I think it'll even promote the other problem of camping even more. In my proposal BB camping will be severely punished when playing properly: isolated either the CV will delete it, 2 or 3 cruisers working together will remove it without being too afraid of getting luck one shot because they have no citadels and the BB when properly play can still delete a cruiser with a good aimed and timed salvo. And DD's can pickup their role with a decent torpedo threat. Now I'm not saying my suggestion would solve all problems of course. I am only trying to help make this game even more wonderful to play so we can all have a good time. Shoot!! Wall of text again... tl:dr: I disagree with the proposal and suggestion other solutions. IMO the cruisers should dominate the matches in numbers.- 79 replies

I have the feeling people tempt to give them some godstatus. IMO the omni players are good. Statwise very most likely better then me. But by no way invincible. When on opposing team my div mates and me stomped them to the floor as well. Gg op! -

Ferry_25 replied to ClappingLollies's topic in General Discussion
I think its defendable to seriously damage or one shot a ship with the amount of ammo worth around or above it's own weight. Angled gives more opportunity for AP shells to fuse. also when a DD gets one shot on mid - long ranges he/ she misplayed (apart from the 1 in 1000 lucky RNG shots). Either the DD was slowing down to smokepewepew while spotted or it was smokepewpewing and got radared. IMO in both cases it's good and deserved riddance. A good maneuvering DD I find near impossible to hit hard on those ranges.- 79 replies

come on. Probably a newbe. I laughed torps at everything that moved when I was that green as well. I was so happy to have learned it more safe and efficient. Last week.

Don't feed him too much info, guys. A new player who is open to learn things... He'll be a grave danger to us on the sea sooner than you think!! welcome my friend. Keep asking. Shiploads of info on the Forum! Learned most of wows here. -

Ferry_25 replied to ClappingLollies's topic in General Discussion
I'm the last to deny there's a BB overpopulation problem. This idea won't solve and I think is ridiculous. As I see it the idea is being able to yolo rush a BB without him/ her being able to do something back. As I see it most hits are already overpens. And with a rushing DD the BB usually has only one salvo for a chance.- 79 replies

1 thing: a retraining captain still gets full benefits from skills when on a premium ship OP. So you can either restart him training on another ship or complete the Gearing training.

I can also highly recommend it on French cruisers. Either I'm having extreme bad luck but I'm amazed when not getting ruddered/ engined or both per hit I take. After having had to force DCP in hairy situations the gazillionth time I respecced my captain for it. A colling down DCP increases my recieving fire chance to approx 100% I noticed (in every ship for that matter).

Are you kidding me 7 dd's in a clan battle????
Ferry_25 replied to OttoTTV's topic in General Discussion
Lol! I actually like such things. And why not? It's not against the rules and playing unexpected might even be a good path to succes. We always take a 1,3,3 setup. But I'll suggest some variation in the coming sessions. This seems like a blast to try! -

OMG. And I am not even playing.... I don't dare to start my client anymore when I'm home! Because I'll make things even worse! -
I think I got it. For me it's behaving like a very heavy (in weight and gun terms) cruiser. Sniping HE on mid- long range and abuse the stealth it offers. Actually pretty boring to be honost. But I also found out it can put up a close fight with other BB's though. Wrecked an Iowa and a Conqueror (which seemed to assume I kept HE spamming him) in knife fights while both ships were in equali-ish health shape. One thing I still didn't figure out is how I can implement the "impossible to citadel this ship" rule. I'm getting them like candy. Also winning is still a no go area. Lion is frantically occupying a spot in my top 10 losing ships overall (20+ matches).

2 things. 1. I can't get my brain wrapped (not even my seond neuron) why Spee should have a different value. 2 why is there not a damage saturation mechanic with fires? I mean: when the first fire on that section has raged my 2 neurons have figured out that has consumed flammables. So a second fire shouldn't rage as long. Try to start a forest fire in an already burned up one.

@XTHD: you might want to consider toning down your use of words. Calling someone garbage based on stats is quite taking things very narrow. You never know if that "piece of garbage" is the same person on a ER saving your life when you're injured or a firefighter pulling you out of a burning house a.s.o. What I am mostly pondering about is this post: OP, when will this game end already? It's been more than a week now and I only see the number of players increasing when I'm in port... .Could you give us an estimated date? We wouldn't want to think you're talking *Edited now, would we?

I highly suggest you take out your Cleveland for a try. It's to get base XP and in that ship I think you'll have the most chance. Usually you're outtiered and will play in a T8 match. Damaging higher tier ships is yielding more xp just because of the tier difference. Also Cleveland is able to take a punch or two so getting oneshot isn't that huge of a risk. It's a very good DD hunter (small ship, higher yield), good in AA (when properly specced), is very capable in cruiser-cruiser knifefights. and can HE spam from behind an island. Of course there might be better suited ships but given the time pressure you're on I'd say this is your very best allrounder and is giving the highest chance to score the 1600. It is doable but you need a very good (not epic though) match in it. And the ship is €20 in the shop. So it's not like it's unaffordable.

Thanks for your advices Colonel and Ara. Like I said: the IJN stealth sneaky bastard is more my piece of cake in a DD. I loath the "smokepewpewing" In 90% of the cases I use smoke to hide my allies with heavier guns and keep spotting. I'm still not sure about the matter though. I equiped my Shima captain with Expert marksman in order to give some lubircant to those BB speed turning turrets in a knife fight situation. And I highly like it: at least I'm giving a unforgettable memory before going down. I'll guess I'll try them both and see how it'll work out. But again: much obliged.
