    Doomed to lose

Yeah. Indeed this looks like a no win from the start. CV and BB wise ok-ish balance. Only you had the severe DD disadvantage for this map and the reds had 2 radars and you none. Particularly for Ocean. I usually have those setups in Tears epi (in my diadvantage in 95% of the cases). Those matches always makes me wanting to take my loss, get it over with and go straight back to port. Which I won't of course but wished I did because of the sheer annoyance. Only way I'd see was if your team would make A-B or C-B push in a coordinated and quite tight formation in which the CV would carry out the scouting. By far not waterproof of course but I see no other way. But I'm not too optimistic that kind of teamwork is very likely...
  2. Ah. I see it has ended already. Thanks for the headsup anyway

Low Victory rate? Here's a reason

OK I don't believe you're trolling but reaching out for help. Now I'm by far claiming to be a very good player but by now I dare say I quite know what I'm talking about. I went through your stats and a few things caught my attention. Looking at your cruiser grind I'd say you made the error of rushing the lines and jumping into high tier premium ships too quickly. The latter I did myself as well: bought Atago way too early. My mistake was thinking the higher I get in tier, the easier this game will become. I can assure you: the complete opposite is the truth. Yes your ships are getting stronger. But so are theirs... And the higher the tier, the more experienced players you'll confront. And that's your main issue I think: the lack of experience. meaning real life player exp. Not the numbers on your boats or on your progress sheet. Again: your cruiser line. i see you mainly focussed the RN line. Now I'll skip my rant about my opinion about that line. Consensus is this is the most challenging and difficult line to grind. If I must believe people, once mastered it can be the most rewarding one. Haven't seen that much to be honest in battle. Also you skipped tiers You're already at Edinburgh. In which you perform horribly statwise. I sincerely recommend you starting "a new" with the Japanese cruiser line and play them all. Don't skip, don't free xp all the upgrades. learn to master them. Also consensus is the IJN cruiser line is the most "forgiving" and consistent line to play. All the way from Chikuma you're being prepared for Zao. Even nurtured to a twit it's still a hell of a ship to play, when you know what you're doing. Positioning in the match. IMO this is the hardest part of the entire game and with which I still struggle. Roughly said: in a DD you're main goal is to scout, get map control (presence on important places) and trying to conquer the cap points. Battleships are there for taking the rough beating and giving them. The trick is to stay as close as possible to the front line, without getting too close: they are too slow to get away when things get out of hand. So don't charge in like an idiot (you'll be rammed to the bottom in no time) but also don't keep hugging the map borders: then you're too far away to play any role. Cruisers are in the middle of those. Roughly; stay between the DD's and the BB's. Either charge into a cap helping your DD when the red is alone of fall back to the BB's when things are getting hairy. The DD, if abled, is usually able to get away from trouble himself. And if not: better lose 1 DD then a DD and a cruiser. Why are you focused out every time? Maybe you're firing too quickly. When firing you get detected in a much larger area. That area you can see on the minimap as a dotted line around you. This game is best played at a slow pace. Don't expect retina detaching fast action like in Unreal a.s.o. The ships move slow, the turn and react slow and they will have long momentum when you hit the brake. In other words: anticipate. Approach wow's more as a game of chess. "If i do that, what will they likely do and what effect can this or that action have in the future?" So don't shoot right away at the first thing that is moving. Let it play out for a bit: you never know if that first target in sight has 5 friends with him. and if you start to fire right away (which makes you visible and the longer the distance the more chance you miss anyway) might draw an overwhelming amount of attention. Start low on the tiers, go slow. Take the time. It isn't a race to Tier 10 when you'll get a magical jar of candy as an endprice. The gamepace is slow. If you don't like that, sorry then this game is not for you. As others said: look at YouTube for instruction vids. It'll take too long here to explain about ammo type, angling etc. Also don't hesitate to ask for help here. As long as you're not whining or yelling your opinion as a fact people are very helpful here. I've learned as much about wows here on the Forum as I did on YT. 1 thing about YT: don't believe for a second those guys are having those matches all the time. Those are their best and epic ones in lots of sessions. They too have horrible, boring and POS matches exactly the same as you and I are having sometimes. Grind the lines slow OP. I can't stress that enough. Also in nearly every line there is "that 1 ship" with which you and it are having a very intimate and fond hate relationship with. 1 example from me is Yamato. I can't make that thing to function even if my life depended on it. Others have the opinion it's great. I think it sucks. On the other hand you'll have love at first sight ships as well. Ships which you make shine as a beacon in the night. Thinking it's in fact too easy to play.... Keep those ships and return to them frequently. 1 you'll learn more from the game because you're not that focused on surviving the match. 2 it'll increase your chance to win; your ace ship has a bigger influence on the outcome. Thus it'll cheer you up most likely after a losing streak. Don't blame the team, blame yourself for under performing. Yes there are lots of potatoes around. Remember we are all humans most likely. And from time to time I am that potato as well. When you see your team doing irrational things at the start, knowing this'll be a loss, you still have the possibility to get the most out of that match for yourself. When you feel frustrated/ upset. Just quit the game right there and then. In that state of mind you'll only likely to make more mistakes then before thus increasing the frustration. Last but not least: we all suffer through losing streaks. Those periods are part of the package. I've had streaks of 20 in a row over a few days. No matter what you do, how well you play and do your best, division up or not, you're going to lose. Heck I was watching Flamu on his twitch tonight. I already admit him as a great player and he was doing quite well when suddenly he screamed "WTF!? Where has half my team went?!" With some other commentary which unfortunately I am not able to quote if I want to keep posting on this wonderful Forum. I think people who know have a rough idea about that content... With a losing streak you have not suddenly become a very bad player. They just happen. End of story. What I do when I sense a losing streak is stripping my flags. Don't want to waste them. tl:dr Hang in there OP. start anew and grind the lines slowly. Learn from your mistakes, read this Forum, ask for help and go to YT. edit: did some post writing additions.

    You just lost a player/customer

I'd advice you to dl the regular client. Yes, it'll take a while but working fine for me.
  5. I won the Tirpitz free XP bonus cammo. Together with other cammo's ingame from missions. Together with the regular free XP and celebration dragonflags and the free XP's in the containers (had 1 50k super, so that helped a lot) not using free XP for upgrades and playing frequently I got it quite quickly. Also strapped the relevant flags/ cammo's on 100 or 200% daily bonus ships. And: the higher the tier you play, the quicker it's going. With all these things combined and of course some luck with an epic win 8 to 10k free XP for a match is doable. Don't honestly remember if it was exactly 2 months. But it was roughly around that.

    Captains with Skills

What I meant with "too much" was more like IMO there needs to be some challenge in the grinds. A captain is getting really useful once it hits 10 points because of the 4th tier skills. Being able to buy them straight from the top it'll go too much to P2W in my opinion (Yeah, got a bit tired of typing IMO). Pay to have an advantage I support so when a new line comes out and I could kick the captain to 10 right away that's a nice but not OP head start as I see it.
  7. Very good point from Smurf. Also good chance there will be nice discounts around Christmas. So better hold on to the stash just yet. Regarding your question. I'd advice against converting free XP from doubloons. I understand WG needs income sources but I think the exchange rate is outragious. 25:1? That means if you want to converge 100K free xp it'll cost you 15 euro's. You can buy Murmansk for that with spare. When you/ he commits to farming free xp with appropriate flags and cammo's Missouri can be grinded in roughly 2 months (assuming you play frequently) and Nelson in half of that time (duh). AFAIK these ships won't disappear so there's no rush there. Premium ships? That's very depending on his taste and lvl progression. I hope I don't need to elaborate jumping into too high tier premiums is a very bad idea. From my POV: low/ mid tier. I'd say Mumansk/ Texas. no viable low tier DD for sale now. Tachibana is IMO a fun ship which can be won occasionally like I did. Same goes for Emden. Mid/ High tier: Leningrad (Lo Yang is very comparable with Benson. Only Hydro is it's selling point), Atago/ Tirpitz. Also I'd advice to keep some in stash. I find it very useful to instantly retrain captains on the grind. Also to occasionally respec captains. Sometimes I find out a certain build isn't working for me anymore. And if he (she?)'s a shipcollector add some portslots for the doubloons: note they are on sale quite regularly. Parallel on topic: I loved reading Donald Duck in my childhood (actually I still do) and Uncle Scrooge! What I always have been wondering: why didn't he put his money on the bank in order to gain interest on it? Keeping it in a safehouse would mean the word for which you'll have to wash your mouth with soap (loss) wouldn't it??

    Question about premium smoke cruisers

keep them OP. The smoke Nerf isn't that meaningful. I can't imagine aDD rushing a Kutusov/ Belfast smoke in order to spot it. A BB can do that but in that case you're mispositioned in the first place.

    Suggestions thread

Clan Wars. Now I don't know if it's too early to make suggestions about CW. My guess is this is still very much WIP and WG is developping CW on the go. Still a shot: I quite often see people hesitating of joining our clan or switching to ours. Would it be possible to make 1 or more "mercenary" slots so people could try out a few matches before deciding to join a clan or not?

    Be Aware of Phising links

TBH I'm missing the point here OP. Did you fall for a phishing link or something? I'm more inclined to trust links here on the Forum f.e. than when I get an awesome offer in my mailbox from my dear friends in Nigeria...
  11. Ferry_25

    Can someone explain this?

That could very well be the case indeed. After all: a citadel hit isn't "recorded" as a hit. You only get the citadel ribbon.
  12. Ferry_25

    Captains with Skills

OK, maybe a 19 pointer would be too much. But I wouldn't mind if WG would put 10 pointers on the slave market.
  13. Ferry_25

    Can someone explain this?

Whaaat?! This is getting weirder and weirder. OK, bounce/ shatter with HE which causes a fire. I can understand that. Or is the paint nowadays also part of the HP pool besides the main factor of influence on particular ship's armor?
  14. Ferry_25

    Rebalance CVs

My problem ingame aren't the CV's perse. But the players. The match is usually already set in the first 2 minutes. I'll see a CV player is awful or not. Usually it's the former group in my team. Refusing to scout: making a run to the enemy lines to spot their positions is priceless. No not saying fly over them and have your planes shred: just locate. No what they do is grouping the planes togehter and make a very nice long sightseeing tour across the borders. Getting sniped in the process and it's so fun to see your planes hanging in the map corner until they crash. Or they are only eager to inflict dmg. Making auto drops on DD's and immediately pull back their squadrons after the inevitable miss so the DD can get into stealth again. It's somehow too hard to understand to have them hanging there for a moment so the team can finish it off or God forbid: sport torps from the DD. What's annoying me more is the fact they can sit back, relax and delete ships without taking any risk. And I agree with @P2Win here. If a Haka wants you, you're toast (disregarding a fully AA specced Des Moines perhaps). It's also a matter of luck where you spawn. F.e. in the Fireisland or Mountain range the teams spawn so retardedly far apart the outside BB cannot catch up with the group to give group AA. Oh so fun and engaging to have your lonely ship be deleted with your flags and cammo's on it without hardly having te chance to retaliate! I have very limited experience in playing CV's. I've come to play warships. Not stupidly clicking on a map to flies who sometimes obey commands but usually not. I'll play a decent RTS if I want that. No I wouldn't shed a tear if CV's would be removed altogether.

    Can someone explain this?

TBH I have never seen this one before. Doesn't mean it didn't happen of course. I think it's a dumb as the penetration without damage ribbon. That is by far my biggest annoyance regarding shelling. Either I miss, bounce or shatter which yields 0 dmg. But a pen must give dmg. Even if it be half overpen dmg in case of a dudd. I think both issues should be solved asap. An overpen can't inflict that much dmg!

Where do I turn on auto denial for clan invitations ?

Indeed I like clans far more than I anticipated. But I can relate to OP's POV as well. If you really don't want it, It'd be a great idea to autmatically make that known or auto reject an application. That'll probably implemented. In the mean time you might want to consider hiding your stats OP. My guess is that's drawing a lot of attention. Looking at them I feel like a small child "oh, I want that too!!"

HMS Lion - you r experience

found out Lion is an excellent close range brawler as well... It can really stand it's ground in a close T-T fight. Bait him into believing you're a HE spammer all the time. So good to knock of 35k-ish from a full BS Izumo with AP. Ok citadel is not as likely but the superstructures and mid line are fond of AP as well.
  18. Ferry_25

Vigilance, does it makes the difference?

I didn't know those things stacked as well. IMO vigilance isn't that useful on higher tier BB's. If you haven't learned by then when to expect torps vigilance won't matter much. Of course you (and I) get outwitted sometimes and are treated by a face full of torps. Doesn't really help to see the inevitable coming somewhat earlier...

    British Aircraft Carriers?

I would recommend not assuming things which seems clear to begin with. I mean: surely cruisers wouldn't be left without HE, would they? And the main armament for battleships being HE? Lmaoooo.... And look what both lines have turned out in?? I'm also seriously wondering if the coming DD line will be able to launch torps. So in this respect it seems highly legitemate to question if there will be planes on a possible British CV line.....

    Beginners guide to destroyer play

    Awesomely written OP. I wish I had that when I begun this game. Had to learn all these aspects the hard way myself. (-;

    British Aircraft Carriers?

Still I can't help but wonder, should a RN CV line come, if they will have planes...
  22. Well you ate my liver. With some fava beans and a nice Chiante hf, hf, hf, hf a couple of times already!!
  23. Did he give a Forum Karma to you? because in my cases (3 to 5) he doesn't. ( I did). Frankly I think he (she?)'s a POS considering that. And because of that I don't take his posts seriously at all.

Mikasa, give it protected MM WG!

Parallel on topic: what are those 2 round things with 2 barrels for In Mikasa? Could anyone explain this to me? I bought this ship with RL hard earned money. And no I don't expect anything to fancy with it but FFS at least let me hit something once every 10 shots with it! I'm not looking for a sealclubber but this is ridiculous. Let Mikasa be a preparation for newbe players to battleships and give it SOME teeth. Again: nothing ridiculous. Just a tiny buff in the accuracy of the main batteries. he secondary spec isn't enough.
  25. It took me hours of research and collaborating with "Anonymous." But i did it. I finally managed to find a RL pic of @xXx_Blogis_xXx!!!!
