This weekend has been horrendous ...

I was on the "bad side" as well. But I can't really say people screwed up that much. It was just a situation of pure bad luck. Nothing I tried succeded. It was in some way hilarious! My advice: don't blind stare at the "winrate" You're only 1/12th influence on the win chance. I'm focussing of having good battles. Even if I lose but had a great time, that match is won for me. If i'd consider that as a winrate my % would be around 75 instead if the 50-ish it is now.

[IJN DDs] Why are higher tier DDs so weak?

This. It's more and more a chess game in the higher tiers. Don't trust the aim assist on the torps (use them as indicator of their movemenst of course) and try to predict where they will be heading, instead of heading now. Or use your skills to ambush them from behind islands. Or wait until they're heavily occupied in a gunfight and probably are in TV most of the times. Have more patience... The ATSF "just keep swimming" is really gone from T7 and up (ok, in much of the cases).
  4. It doesn't matter Skybuck. Wheter 1 or 12 ships are detecting you: you're seen by everyone. (v.v. for that matter (-;)

    Smokin

Eeerrr. I don't know the circumstances in which you played OP. In my case I rarely use a smoke screen for myself. Why? Because I don't trust it. It seems I'm a sitting duck, clearly visible and getting shot like I was in point blank range, after 3, 10, 30 seconds. It doesn't matter. I only use it for myself as a extreme last desperate measure thus increasing my survival chance by 0.0005%. No I mostly use it to smoke up my BB's, switch on my turbo boost and lay a screen as vastly as possible and keep scouting for my BB's. 4 or 5 invisifire shots from the "fat ladies" are invaluable for the battle outcome. There's only 1 problem in my tactic. 2 in fact. 1: the BB's brevely sail through them and 2 I don't earn anything for doing so. But other than that IMO the smokescreens can be game decisive. If I happen to encounter a team which understand the game (once every 3 to 400 battles that's the case!), the BB's can sit still, invisi wreck the sh*t out of everyone, the cruisers can join in and finish the jobs while I keep scouting. When a red cruiser shows up, I can quickly hide behind the BB (what is a 50% shot for me is only taking out the paint roller for them), if a DD shows up my cruisers can get rid of that easily. While keep scouting I see the torps coming in so the "back office" can get into motion quickly enough to avoid them (or eat only 1 which a BB can surely survive). IMO the whole trick is: don't use the smoke for yourself in a DD. But maybe I'm getting senile by even mentioning this.

    Preventing camping

I have an idea for the camping problem. I'm aware it will not solve the entire problem but it's a start. Tell me I'm stupid if this idea is stupid. Here it is: why not show the beginning positions of all players right from the start. In the simulation-part of the game every battle is simulated like 2 fleet encounter each other. If the starting location is shown @ the start, rendering it immediately to the "last known position" when the match actually starts and making everyone invisible again at least it forces all to start moving...

    Carrier Gameplay Extensions (Poll)

    Hey skybuck. It took me awhile to understand your purpose. If I'm correct: you want to add spice to CV play. In fact I would highly welcome that. IMO CV play is so bluntly simple and tedious I don't play them (unless in a pearl event or something). I highly like RTS games and dare say I'm pretty good in them. So once I got the hang of man torp drops it was shamefully easy to harvest my kills. No fun at all. Your ideas are interesting. IMO the whole CV play should change drastically in order to bring this wonderful game back to balance. Instead of crying about armor nerfs/ buffs torpedo buff/nerf etc. First I'd like to opt to remove the citadels from CV's. Second make the CV susceptible for detonation (they must store those plane torps/ bobms somewhere?). Third: Give an infinite amount of planes. Why are all the other ships having infinite ammo? Forth and by far most important: get rid of the ridiculous "pre order plane layout!" I Always have the wrong layout. Why the hell should you have to chose beforehand? I a carrier can have 3 squads airborne, why not let me chose for f.e. a FTB trio? or any combo possible? That way I can adept to the battle situation and be of use. If those changes would find ground I highly like your suggestions. In the mean time my carriers are mainly decorating my port. (-;

    DD Drivers

OP. Torp spreading is a mental game like chess playing. Try to predict your target will be doing instead what he (she for that matter) IS doing... most of the times you'll miss. But keep patient. Remember Adama: Not this time, maybe the next. A stressed DD player, is a dead 1.. edit: Sorry for my bad layout. I'm responding on my GSM on my holidays

    HMS President Petition

    [edited]
  11. And really. I don't understand the problem. All I'm asking is a fair share. Playing my role in whatever [edited]Ing ship. I don't need the superhuman .6M profit every game. I remember a nice yama, 2 mont bb div game I was in. Aetam made a vid of it. We reassured our team we would tank and not snipe from the base line. Aka playing our role as BB. It was an awesome match which we won, by sheer luck. Both sides complimented each other for a nice match. We didn't make an extreme profit but some +in silver. That is all I'm asking for. Let the superhumans make their gazillion of profit. I don't mind. And even give me the bill of -200 k if I'm stupid enough to sail straight line, same speed in between islands with my Yama/ Montana. If I haven't learned by now that's a bad idea I deserve nothing less. My whole [edited]-Ing point: give me my hobo fee for my mediocre, yet well intended, game between the superrace. Maybe 1 day I'll be able to match up with these people. Hell, punish me for stupid mistakes for all I care. That's the best way to learn. But for the love if all: stop punishing me for trying to do my best.

    Matchmaking as it currently stands

I can come along with your feelings OP. The fun in the mid tiers is being the pain in the *ss as much as possible. I can't speak for CV play since I find that horrible tedious (being a RTS lover myself). My advice: When driving a t5 in a t7 match, do all you can to be as annoying as possible. In the opening phase: Keep low profile. Don't draw attention yet. Let the battle progress and at the right time (can't specifically say when) come out of the shadows and torp / HE spam the reds in your DD or cruiser. Play the support in your bb and citadel the s*it out of their cruisers. Timing is of essence and so is patience. Very much note: I'm talking about mid tiers! In high tiers it doesn't matter: You'll be punished always. In low tiers it's much more YOLO. Which can be fun IMO...
  13. point taken. Though it can be the other way around too. Can clearly remember a match in my Tirpitz in which 2 Iowa's (granted:T9) wanted to get into close range with me... Also granted: It was just before Tirpitz was released for genpop. They both sang to Leonardo diCaprio pretty soon...

    blyskawica upgrades

My advice is take the acceleration upgrade. Ruddershifts are fast enough already. The acceleration upgrade is wonderful! And what much people don't seem to know is it works on deceleration as well... Making an emergency brake were "live savers" for me on countless times. Hitting full reverse and knocking the momentum out very fast gave me rust damage instead of gunpowder dmg fro a lot of dedicated bombers....

Most disgusting way to be sunk

Hahaha! Nice topic! I have seen them all!! I vote for the 1 side defense while the lemming train is failing on the other side. But it was a hard pick!

    Remove Detonation

Ok pretty needless and obvious conclusion: Op is frustrated. Deto is not nice but not that common either. I got 1 in 1%-ish number of battles. Yeah it sucks when you get 1 in the opening phase from a lucky bomb drop. Quite often a detonation was my mercy blow anyway. So those flags are amusing in that situation. Though I cannot reproduce numbers I have the feeling I'm on the dealing side approximately as frequent as in the receiving. it's annoying but not to be overcome IMO.
  17. I hear you OP.Sadly this is a taboo subject. Will be archieved pretty soon I reckon. I didn't bother reading the replies. I guess it'll be the LTP card and "good you noobs stay away from T10 BS." Fact is it's ruining my game fun too. Apart from a extreme select few players with superhuman powers (or cheats?) it's hardly possible yo make a profit. It is completely beyond me there's no room for thinking of a compromise. No I don't mind something's at stake. But this has demotivated me from the t10 nearly completely. And the "don't use prem cons" card doesn't fly either: Premcons are "mandatory" from t7 and up. but like I said I've given up hope there will be a way to make everybody happy in the T10 games. My guess is it's a nice get together for the superhumans nowadays. "hey, you again. The last 25 battles were nice, weren't they?" How the hell that can be fun without any new influx is also completely beyond my regular human brainpower...

Fixing team killer issue, NB Wargaming PLEASE

Tk has been debated countless off times. It's 1 of the issues there's no consensus about... My POV: there are 2 types of TK's. 1 the intentinals and 2 the internationals. The 2nd group being in vast inferiorty. The first group are IMO highly overall. In the lower tiers people who are still learning the game. In the higher tiers people who make honost mistakes. Just overlooked the 1 friendly while being focused down. I have been hereticised in this matter over and over but IMO the current system is helping the 0,01% leaches and is punising the 99,9% of people who only want to learn to improve. I am a human being, so I make mistakes. Like we all do. My suggestion for an incidental TK: make me pay for ALL costs on the victim, revoke all cash/ XP progress and give me a "stiff warning" next time you'll be pink will do fine. Now I get pink by a minor mistake. Result? I just spam 7 T1 games, ruining them to get rid of the pink and probably scare off new players in the process. Bit that's my opinion. Some people think I'm al lunatic... . . . .

    Free camera in port

+1 from me too! I like to start wow's and just look at the amazing art work in port...
  20. RN ships can stay afloat?!! Be extremely grateful for that! Granted UK had tremendous tanks and planes in the designated era of the World off- spin offs. But the navy sucked. Like they always had. Oooh they brought down Bismarck. Only after an extremely luck torp strike (by plane!!!) and after a 100 to 1 advantage. And yeah! They sunk the French fleet when the French were in port, being statinarry. Believe me: I dont want to be disrespectful of the UK in WW1 and II. but their navy sucked, like always. Be glad they put guns on those shrimp catchers altogether!

    Kudos to BB players

Thanks OP. I like to play my role in every ship (getting punished for that more than I like but that's another matter). I'm a huge fan of BB's. I can truly say hardly anything's more gratifying than typing in chat "what Atlanta?" after deleting it or giving it such a blow on the soft spot he'll stay behind his island untill his game is lost!

    DD killing CV

There was 1 match I had in my Lo Yang. I got a CV with his pants down. He (she?) fought like a true ace. Making it very hard. Yet I avoided all his torp drops/ bomber strikes. I torped him while we would have won the game anyway by cap. He was the sole survivor and played a hell of a game. Frankly I still feel sick to my stomach giving him a huge repair bill in my walletwarrior DD. What I would do and turn back that battle and only give him 1 he shot so he could look back in pride, knowing I won the cat and mouse game.... I did something in return much later though: Got another CV pants down.. He managed to sink me (granted: Iwas shot to 5%health but still). I immediately complimented him. With luck and nothing else I managed 1 spread, granting me a flesh wound...
  23. Excellent topic OP. I've been around now for a year. Joined at the end of CBT and at the beginning of release. I love the beauty of this game. The passion of game idiots like we all are. Epic battles I've had. Also made good friends ingame. what I do want to mention is this forum. I've learned so much! Coming from the C64 era (yep: Press play on tape)I found the passion for good games is like art/ classical music: Not bounded by age. Heated debates on the forum. But always (ok 99% of the times) on topic and rarely personal. Very well 'guidance' by the big Vuk and Rodge. I'd say a big high 5 to them and all active forum players. And thank you all for the feedback, ontopic funded critisism (big shout to Admiral Noodle, Aetam, Kenliero and T-H-O-R on this 1) and advice my friends. I hope to celebrate the 20th anniversary of this beauty with you all! edit: 1 of my topics was sent to the archives up till now. Though a big hit on my ego I had to admit I was fulminating on that 1. Will try never to make the same mistake again.
  24. Ferry_25

    Torpedo's are pretty bugged.

It could have been an IJN manual CV drop. In that case the torp spread is converging. That's my only explanation. I've never survived 2 ship torp hits in a DD.surviving 1 is already quite rare.
  25. Lol! Yep. It's quite simple in fact: your ship has a100% fire catch chance and the red ships .000005! I had a battle of 500 in which I inflicted 2 fires on 150 HE hits (with DE) in a Jap cruiser... I didn't sacrifice enough virgin goats to RNG...
