Which forum members have you seen in random battles?

met Babykim this evening in a horrible tedious camping match. We lost but the highlight was meeting him (her)... -
economy change is the best thing WG has done
Ferry_25 replied to Comrad_StaIin's topic in General Discussion
I'm getting the feeling this is not just an update but a whole new phylosophy. I can't really explain but for the first time I feel safe to play my role in a particular non-cv (seen very disturbing posts elsewhere on the cv matter). I posted a reply on the "crap thread." Chapayev, I was chasing DD's. Completely forgot to check the MM and got 1 shot by a BB showing full BS. I only did 9k dmg. Still got away with it with a tiny profit. Granted: prem account, and walletwarrior paint but still. I was sure I was going to bleed credits for that performance. What i did figure out is the premium consumables have become largely obsolete by the new system. IMO the hot debate about this subject is ignorance. I kindly ask WG to explain more in detail what the new economy system is about and how it works. -
Well, this I don't understand either.... Was a crap game, let myself be dev-stroke by BB's (was chasing a DD and forgot about the rest)... And still a profit? OK very small. I was prepared for the -150k for that 1 and rightfully, cause I felt I screwed up.

Torpedos.... Team killers favourite tool
Ferry_25 replied to Charger76's topic in General Discussion
IMO it isn't that big an issue. In lower tiers I'm watching my friendly DD's even more closely than the enemies and often I find it hilarical. Of course I'll politely explain "this and this is the case." It is extremely rare in higher tiers. And if it does happen it's a honost mistake in 99.9% of the cases. It also happens to me rarely. Last week f.e. friendly torped a cruiser with my 15 km torps. he was @ 14.95 km and I completely overlooked him, TK-ing him in the process. He was already down to 500 hp and was being focussed. Still of course I appologized, got fined and turned pink for 7 battles. Rightfully I must add but it's punishment enough. -
And the mission not considered: very good score OP!
-
IMO there isn't very much reason to use prem cons anymore... Maybe prem DCP on high tier BB's for the fire/ HE spam. But otherwise I don't see much point in it anymore. The regular cons are doing fine for me. That could be a huge cost saver. And I also bought a couple of premium paints of some boats. Mostly because I like them of course. But it also saves 22k-ish credits each battle.

Played a couple of rounds. It seems fair to me. Had some bad ones and awesome ones. IMO when you play your role adequately there's nothing to fear economically. Losses are not too bad. Badluck/ stupid play = big loss as it should be. Profits are nice. Thanks WG. This is exactly what I was looking for creditwise. In this way the aces can keep shining, the "footfolk" (like me) can keep having fun and the noob campers will go to beg for cash elsewhere. I really feel this is the upgrade very much needed in this wonderful game.

THis topic is making me even more worried: http://forum.worldofwarships.eu/index.php?/topic/63138-essex-patch-512-victory-with-156k-damage-and-still-loosing-credits-wtf/

Essex, Patch 5.12.: Victory with 156K damage and still loosing credits, WTF?
Ferry_25 replied to B010011A's topic in General Discussion
Hmmm This is making me very worried about the high tiers. OK, OP has non-premium. But even with premium he (she?) would have made only 50k profit. With this awesome score? I only make those scores when my PC is turned off and lying in bed unconsious... I know: this is only 1 result and I'll have to figure it out myself. But if nothing's changed my X's will keep decorating my port. -
Share your opinion: Is World of Warship now unpleasant to you too ?
Ferry_25 replied to Gepeto_017's topic in General Discussion
This. THis is exactly what I was about to write. It's as simple as eating: push as a team to a certain spot, fight for it or "die trying." That doesn't mean go full spead ahead and do crazy things. Careful play is not bad but lame, backsitting, hide behind an island so the reds can finish you off 1 by 1 is killing! -
I'll give it a shot. But I'm afraid I'll be bored/ annoyed out pretty quick like the first 3 seasons.
-
For me the reason is I find CV play boring. It's so over simplistified and restricted because I have to make a decision which plane loadout I must chose beforehand. And the gameplay itself I don't like. It's no fun for me to shred the ships with torp planes once I got the hang of manual torp spreads. If only I could have some more control over the planes (whithout making it world of warplanes of course) and if could get rid of the pre-loadout choice forcing I'd maybe give it a shot. Now i only play CV's when I "have to" in special events.

I agree with all the above. One thing I might add: have patience. A BB is not a swift action ship to play. If you like that kind of play: don't go for BB's. Like nearly all responses: the closer you get, the more effective you become. If a BB leads a charge and their team don't abandom him (her) at the first sing of trouble, there's hardly nothing to stop that group. Tank forward (no, not yolo rush into an Island group at full speed, like I said: go slowly). If you happen to be in a good BB team: a group of 3 BB's slowly tanking forward is almost unstoppable. In all slowness: don't panic. Even if you get focussed out: it still takes a hell of a time to bring you down (apart from extreme situations). It'll buy the team time to regroup/ cap or do their jobs (if they play right of course). The BB's are the capital ships and most depending on their team. And that's were it's going horribly wrong often. You start pushing with a group untill the group encounters the NMY. They haul @ss and leave you to rot. I can clearly understand why this will provoke camping. IMO the key for well team play with BB's is lying with the cruisers: if the encounter is with DD's: why should rush forward and finish the buggers. With BB's they should fall back and support fire while the BB takes the major blows (for which it's precisely designed). IF the DD players have more than 1 braincell: smoke up the fat ladies so THEY can invisifre instead of your own puny pea shooters. If you get caught by a cigarette DD spamming HE at you: again don't panic. Turn your @ss toward him sail away and move left and right. most shots will miss. The one that hit will most likely be absorbed or cause a fire. In the last case: let it rage, order a ship wide BBQ and if you have gotten out of range use your heal (in other words: paint stick) and heal back 95% of that dmg. The biggest threads are ship torpedo's (WASD hack AND speed up-down hack will do the trick wonderfully) and your collegue enemy BB's. Assume all BB's can pen you (even when playing a Yama): angle and reduce that chance. Better to give up your rear guns and shoot with the frontal than going broadside. BS= getting wrecked. And last: by the love of Pete: don't camp. A camping BB is a wrecked BB. Better go down in flames, while charging than to go down in flames whithout havind done anything significant at all. IMO an undamaged BB at the end of a game is a noob.

One thing's still not clear for me. Of course I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed. My main demotivation in the high tiers is suffering losses while doing my utmost best. What I like to know is if the getting break even point in costs is somewhat easier. Now I'm not asking "give me 100k silver for 1 gunshot hit. But for me the currect situation is "I scout, cap and put my ship on the line in my DD not having taken too much damage." In doing so did an ok-ish game in which I have the feeling I made a good influence on the outcome. That'll be 150k. I'll never probably will be "the super TX ace who makes 500k in his worst games" Neither do I pursue that. And I'm not afraid to make a loss. Hell no: if I make a stupid mistake (which I'll keep doing till my last breath) it's ok to pay the bill. Even with a bad luck round: getting a detonation in the 1st minute because a bomb landed on my head: no problem. That's part of the game. What I love to see is a compromise for the ordinary people like I am: you do a mediocre game? You'll get a mediocre reward. The aces can keep shining and WG will still be able to earn a buck. Now, would that idea be the case in the new patch?

WASD hack mainly. In this tier range most BB's have learned their lessons. Play it more like chess: ambush from behind islands or send spreads to ships who seem to be occupied. And send the spreads in ilogical patterns. Assume your "victims" are proficient with DD's as well. And yeah: still you'll miss most of your spreads.
-
No I don't use them. With the module reshuffle update I found I had 69 of them. (shipkeeper). Sold them all but 10 "just in case." In my experience detonation is rare. I'm in the 1%-ish range. I know: permanent arm destruction is rare as well. But I'd rather have it over with in 1 blow than crippling around with a busted torp tube. And my detonationhits were very often my mercy blow anyway. I put on the flags on the IX-X DD's. (still don't have X DD's but if I do, I'll mount the flags). Yeah because of the repair costs. Below that the costs can be overseen.

First game in some time for me (I'm back [edited])
Ferry_25 replied to waxx25's topic in General Discussion
Give Montana another shot Waxx. The yama's aren't as arrogant as they used to be against them... And: welcome back! -
IMO you're going too fast. I made that mistake as well in the beginning. My advice is to stick with a particular ship untill you feel competely comfortable with it. My mistake was thinking things get easier the higher the tier I achieved. It's not. On the contrary: it's getting harder. If I could do it over I'd play at least 100 battles per ship in the lower tiers. In fact that's what I'm doing right now: re-playing all the USN cruisers. I completely lost track in my Baltimore: can't hit a barn from the inside and getting 1 shot by splashing water from missing shells...

X-Files 009, Enemy planes fly into my zone undetected
Ferry_25 replied to SkybuckFlying's topic in Videos & Streams
I think this is a very old bug. I get detected by ghostplanes all the time. Hell, they could even see me through mountains. Bringing the matter up was a taboo subject though. No, you're wrong Ferry, The planes were just at the top of the mountain and in that angle they could see you but you can't see them. Hell, I even considered ships relay coordinates to planes. But in your case it finally proves it: you were in open water. Detected by "planes" for ages BEFORE they entered your detection circle and no enemy ships around. Good 1 Skybuck. +1 for you. (quickly replied before this is going to the archive because of 'spamming.'). IMO you have a very solid point here! Thanks! -
