Hey. I'd like to ask your advice. I'm @ Kagero right now. I loved and (for my standards) performed well in the IJN DD's untill Kagero. IMO K is a "meh" ship. There will be players who love them. That's not the issue. I've muddled and struggled so far to 90k-ish XP. With the coming split K will be kicked back in tier. I have enough free XP (.35M) and credits (90M) to unlock Shima right now. What would you do in my case? Take my pound of flesh and bypass to secure Shima? Or wait for the split and re-grind the new T9 IJN DD? Or if I find K "meh" there's a good chance I'll feel the same about S? Your highly valued advice is like always highly appreciated.

Long range by far. Apart from the absurd long ranges on IJN DD's which can be dangerous for TK-ing (they are so long on the run everything can happen in the mean time) I always take the longest range as possible.

Eeerrr. I must frankly admit I still haven't tried out this ship yet...

I'm kind of losing track about all the rants here. IMO it's fine the way it is now. Don't need to change anything. Yeah: PIA to be on fire in my beautiful BB. But so is a -95% HP shot in my cruiser when a BB is looking funny at me...

My advice OP: reconsider using premium consumables. Those were your credit bleeders. The repair bill is gone/ changed: you'll be charged with 1 sum regardless you come out unscratched or your ship was blown up. AFAIK you start with a negative balance which you can increase by performing. The prem consumables aren't that important anymore. I have kicked them out on nearly all my boats. Prem DCP on T9-10 BB's is about it. And it's working fine. I'm a big fan of the new system: finally I'm not being punished for playing my role to my best ability while there's still something at stake: being punished for stupid behavious is nothing more than fair. (-;

Well I like BB play a lot. Those whiners are not talking on my behalf. I extremely rarely lose a ship because of HE spam and fires. 1 fire and depending on the situation even 2 I just let burn out and heal back. Biggest threat are BB fire and torpedo's. I wasn't extremely interested in the RN cruiser line but seeing the rumors about no HE shells I don't think I'll follow that line.

Lol. been there too. It's a god miracle from starters you hit that friendly BB in the first place, under that angle. You were barely scratching nose/ butt. Like I said: I've had it too: slight bumperkiss in an angle of 170' poiting far away from the friendly but somehow got a Angelina Joli shell which curved right onto the friendly ship (doing about 500 dmg to a full healht BB). Got me pink for 7 matches. The other day I stupidely accidentally pumped two torps in a friendly. Nothing. Would I've gotten pink then I'd perfectly understand it. Since WG opend the "wich hunt on TK-ers it seems completely arbitrary wether or not one gets pink. Don't get me wrong: true TK-ers are really sorry people. TK-ing on purpose. But how many times did you meet those insects? I have 4k matches now and met 3, 4 at the most? Nowadays pinks doesn't mean a thing. Absolutely nobody responds to pinkies anymore. But before pinks were scorned at so it really had a punishing effect. Thus helping the insects IMO and annoying the hell out of honost mistake people like in your case. I bet that BB didn't bother to put out the fire, taking that dmg to heal it back since he was sailing to DD territory not even knowing it was you who hit him. Also a "SB X-file thing" I didn't hear the "don't fire at your allies warning" which it always does.... So did he caught fire by the friction??

Bb vs cruisers vv. Hey I'm having this issue. Last game I had the Iowa. Met an enemy german cruiser (Hipper if I remember correctly) on mid range. We both showed broadside and fired. I only got 1 lousy 1060 overpen and he easisly shoots me for 16k damage. When in the opposite situation (me in a cruiser) a BB only has to look at me funny, shoot on or around the 6 squares surrounding me on the minimap in order to chip away 95% health, regardless what angle/ maneurvring etc. And these things happen to me over and over. What the hell am I doing wrong? I have a replay of that particular Iowa match if you want.

Thanks General. I guess I'll just continue the grind. "terrible ship" is not my POV on it. It's just a sudden lack of punch I'm having in it: shipspeed, maneuvrability, torpspeed which give me the "meh." After a glorious grind from the former DD's. Granted: Fubuki is somewhat more sluggish but at least I have 3 torp launchers!

I actually started to like T9 games since the economy buff. Being by far an ace player I finally am able to make some profit for playing my role ingame. Yeah do lose sometimes but that's mainly due to my own stupidity (still like to qualify myself as a human being so I'll keep making mistakes) or plain bad luck. The matches are in my xp very nicely balanced. Either it's focussed on T9. With some 8's and 10's in it. Sometimes I'm the only top tier. Occasionally some matches with 8-9's mainly and 1 or 2 7's. I think that sucks for those people. A Colorado is absolutely no match for a Iowa/ Izumo/ FdG f.e.

Ghostplane detection. I have asked this question elsewhere. Very often I get the "plain detected sign." Whithout any plane visible. I've come to accept the fact that planes seem to be able to see me through mountains. But it happens on open water a lot as well. Do those planes have a detection radius as well? I still don't get it.

Very recognisable.... Since cruisers tempt to go decievingly fast, I always check my throttle: don't rush in too fast and make sure the BB's are with you. And there lies the main problem. They still tempt to hide behind islands or hug the mapborders... If i find myself caught it depends on the situation. On loner range hold fire and try to go to stealth. If you don't dissappear, risk the turn: switch speeds while turning! It disrupts your circle and makes you a harder target. In middle range I trhow it in reverse anyway: better retreating and firing than to throw away my ship for nothing. At least that way I can dish out some damage. And in a cruiser your nose is the hardest/ most slippery for shells. and keep wiggling while reversing! Sometimes your team helps you out by coming to your aid. Best way to survive. On close range I go full speed ahead and make a suicide attack: in a non US cruiser maybe I can take 1 with me with a torpspread. And in a US cruiser I go for a ram. No of my tactics are in any way faill safe. In 90% of the cases you're pretty much screwed. Anticipation is your only ally in this matter. Edit: oh yeah: don't open fire too soon! You might see 1 ship on your range horizon but always assume he's not alone! The closer you'll get whithin stealth, the more info you'll get. If he's in a huge group: haul [edited]and turn before being spotted. Live to fire another moment.
