    ARP Takao Mission

I voted yes. But I'd like to add the nuance in my comment that it would have been much more fair if T8 was included. Maybe raise the win number demand a bit in exchange. Since Atago is a T8 ship. But if you have acces to a T9-10 the mission doesn't seem that much impossible. It's reqcuiring 1 victory per day. OK, I am suffering through another 1 of my losing streaks right now but that's part of the game. I just rage quit after another loss tonight and called it a day. As my stats imply ( I'm in the "elite 50-50 league!!!") I only need to play 2 T9-10 games per day on average to fullfill this mission. I acknowlige I'm in good luck since I am grinding a lot of 9's at this moment: Dumbskoy, Kangeroo, Citbuki and Baltiless. Already have acces to Iowa and Izumo. Want to grind those out before I feel "psychological ready" to unrust my Yamato and Montana.. (wating for the prem cams on T10 as well). Edit: what "worries" me more is the fact I already have all the other ARP ships (ecxept for the green 1. I think that 1 is new to this season, isn't it?). I don't want te be stuck with even more redundant captains for eternity... Already have 2 extra schoolgirls with glasses sitting in my Y-port. I sincerely hope the option to dismiss them will be avaliable. Can't frankly figure out why that's not the case from the beginning...
  2. Well it depends what kind of play you like. From my POV as a ship keeper I can say a captain is starting to get "interesting" when he (why aren't there still no female captains on the non ARP ships available for that matter, WG? You have a lot of female player fans!) is getting 10 points. As I am not selling ships I keep the captains dedicated to that ship and start with a "fresh" 1 every T up I go. I go over when the captain has 10 points. I'm playing Fletcher with a 7 @ this moment... That way I'm sure I won't make the mistake of rushing the tiers again. OK I often kick them on prem's to farm the XP some faster. But I want to make sure I get the hang of the ship touroughly first. To use them later when I feel like it. Yeah call me a seal clubber for all I care. I agree from T8-10 a 15 is quite essential. But in my experience the XP income is going faster the higher the tier you get. Should I have been a ship seller I'd recommend investing some doublons in instant retrain though. So you can pick up the captain grind immediatly and benefit from the bonusses at the same time. My strategy takes a long time but I don't mind. But I can also see the benefits of having only that op tier ships with optimal captain capabilities. And like you said: it makes it esier but don't ever go lazy. Especially in the higher tiers.

    Best Cruiser Line

It highly depends on your won prefs. I'm starting to re-discover the USN line and actually starting to like it... Problem with US line is the cruiser play changes so dramatically while you're going up the tiers. St L acts pretty much like a BB. It was even classified a BB historically. If I got my info correct. Then O&P are more acting like DD's IMO. Quite agile/ fragile with quite good torps and OK guns. Nothing all too spectacular I know. Then comes Cleveland. It has an completely different playstyle. Suddenly you become the DD menace, island lobber and CV bane. And Pepsi + NO has yet another different playstyle. Iron nose and support fire to BB's. IMO they're floating citadels with quite punchy guns. I am suffering/ struggling with Baltiless for half a year now. Prior to the economy (IMO) buff that ship was rotting away in port. I didn't feel like getting the guaranteed -150k profit each time. But now effort is rewarded as well and losses (by bad luck/ screw ups) have become manageble I'm taking it out now and then. My point; uptill Cleveland I highly likes the line, my fun drastically plummeted after that. As for the other lines: IMO they are more consistent. Of course each tier have distinct differences by the main theme's remaining more or less the same. German cruisers are my least favorite (I'm at the peashooting Hipper now). I like the IJN best. Nice stealty, agile, good punches from the guns and nast torps. Slow turrers can be compansated by their agility. Russians I like as well: they are definitely no citadels with guns. They are citadels with guns, ecquiped with a high power citadel magnet. But those guns... Oh I can't stop loving those! A hit is rarely not rewarded with damage while on the USN line you're contantly calculating of the angle is 59' 10'' 5'' or 6'' The difference in the angle seconds is wheter a 100% bounce or a triple citadel. And I am so sorry but I cannot bring myself to grinding the RN line. Maybe later but I have deleted so much of them I actually feel sorry for my "enemies" in battle. Laying in smoke or hiding behind an island, waiting for 19 minutes and 45 seconds for a ship that might pop up to fill it with torps is not my idea of fun.
  4. I've noticed too. And looking at the ranks of the people I am convinced the rank they manage to acquire is saying absolutely zip faeces about their skills. you can also ID them by the discount flags they're flying. I often (no not always) see 3 star flag ships cowering away like pussycats, leaving their teams to rot only to be focussed next. It has caused me some Karma by openly asking them how the hell they ever get to rank 8 (or 7. i don't remember cause I gave up Rank pretty soon again this season). Also it accured to me how often the rank 1 people are at the mere bottom of the teamscore list... Yes that can also mean a plain badluck game but it has caught my attention.

    Fubuki -> Kagero: Why bother?

I got K for a while already and I started to really like it when I punched my captain to 15 and got concealment exp. I use the 8 torpedo's... They are really nasty although did have some akward screw ups, since I am SO used to the 10 km torps I'm using at Kagero's predecessors... Indeed for me 8-10 km range is enough. The longer range torps are too slow, spotted @ 10 lightyears away and too dangerous. I accidentally had a TK from a friendly laying @ 14.99 km and 99 cm from me. I'm curious to the DD split.

    Variation of Islands and Icebergs

Actually this doesn't sound that weird OP. Now that you mention it: 1 of the wonders of this game is the stunning eye for detail IMO. But the islands do often seem a bit "cartoonish" IMO. And in game tech sometimes ridiculous "behaviour" Like getting stuck, still quite a distance from a "90' straight pointing down" piece of rock... I can understand beaching within range on a sand atol. But not at a "shiprock in sea!" Don't take my POV wrong: I really love the sense of detail and frankly: I still like to just start my client and only admire the ships in port whithout even playing. Call me pathetic but I just like that. It's the main reason I'm a "shipkeeper." I still cannot bear it in my heart ever to sell 1 ship. I now have 119 ships (inc Halloween) in port... Still finding Mikasa, Nikolai and Tirpitz my most beautiful esthetic vessels. With Novik as honorable mention: for a great part because of the wonderfull 18th century "ball cannons" as decoration! Heck! I even find the Royal Citadel line wonderful to behold. Although I'm afraid I won't start grinding that line any time soon.
  7. Eeerr. yeah. Kongo is about the only exception of brawling and is in fact a excellent sniper... But I guess I must have missed my point in my suggestion. all very valid arguments not to push. I must admit the problem of camping is starting to get to me. Getting a bit tired of trying to play my role. Regardless of BB, DD or cruiser and getting focussed out every single time, while my "friendlies" are cowering behind islands and/ or hugging the mapborders, only to be focussed out next 1 by 1 and losing battles over this problem. I thought the key was in BB's just pushing (no, not rushing like idiots) forward: IMO the more "ground" you cover, the less the enemy has and the easier it gets. Of course: no guarantee whatsoever: they still can be better. But heck! I don't really mind losing by being outclassed! First I had a hell of a fight and second and more important: I only learn from better opponents! I let myself ruin this evening of gaming: every single battle was the same. Within 5 minutes I already saw the gam was lost. all BB's staying way in the back/ hiding and cowering like DD's. Our DD's/ cruisers getting butchered and they were next. While the reds were pushing nicely in groups. Dd @ the front, closely (not paintscratching) followed by 2 cruisers and at least 1 BB. What the hell am I supposed to do alone in my DD/ cruiser or BB while the rest is camping in the back? Yep: attack and go down in flames. Everything better than to join those pathetic people! More often than not I managed to take 1 with me! But, not to whine, rant or thread: it is slowly eroding my fun in this otherwise wonderfull game. Or are you guys saying: Ferry, you're BS-ing and you're doing something wrong? Please tell me because I'm running out of options. Joining the campground is simply not an option for me (hence my lousy stats). I want [edited]-ing action!! That's why I chose for this WARgaming title.
  8. I think this is an excellent idea. And give some general info about all lines for that matter. That would help prevent a lot of dissapointment. And whether you like a line/ shiptype or not is entirerly personal of course.
  9. So what you're saying camping is a global problem... That's an interesting thought. IMO the side which camps the most loses... But by far did I mean: go full speed ahead, TV all the way and find yourself alone in the enemy base, surrounded by red friends. Always keep at least 1 eye on the MM.

If it's acting like a Kaiser I am tempted. I wasn't too fond of Nassau though.

Tako finally hitting the EU server

Lol/ i beg to differ. Did you see the EU-US battles on stream? We completely WASTED them. Heck they won 2 matches, 1 with Little White Mouse brilliant input: "i have this" That was a wonderful moment and the other 1 I completely forgot. I actually send Ichase and Notser a link to beginners tutoriols after the event (didn't even get a response...) The rest was a simple "walk over." The US CC's aren't mentioning anything about the event on YT. I take that as a huge compliment. And we are given far harder missions to get the ships. That only proves the true navies are from the "old world" Yep The EU. That makes the rest of the world wannebe losers. In fact I'd opt to make the requirements a bit harder so we can have an actual challenge instead of standing with 1 foot in Kindergarten like the other servers apperantly are being proud to live in for eternity! All pride to the EU server. Please WG: start to challenge us for real and give the pathetic challenges to the wannebe's!!!

Tako finally hitting the EU server

Consiedering txtspeak's entry and a bit off topic: have the CV's been resurrected again? I'm encountering them lately more and more. Which IMO is only great news. Even given the fact I don't feel so tough anymore having eaten a mouthfull of planetorps or 2 in my DD. Awesome to see them coming back. Like mr Conway's saying: Atago is a ship which requires skill to get the most out of. I found out that the extreme hard way when I bought it too early in my "carrier." When still operating @ T4-5 overall... So I agree to have it won by xp-ed players. Though it would have made completely sense to include T8 in the grinding as well since it is a T8 ship. Not at all to sound ungrateful but please, please let us be able to dismiss the "redundant" captains of the wonderful ARP ships! I'm proud to say I collected them all during the events. And I don't really like having the 2 reserve Hiei's forever in my port! And wow!! Takao!!! All ARP fans who hate Takao, please raise your hand and yell out to the top of your lungs... *Expecting cricket sounds.* Edit: the conditions for Takao aren't that hard: we have more than 60 days to fullfill it. Even I can manage to get 1 victory per day. In the given timeframe that gives me 10 days to spare!

Tier X permanent camos are coming?

Granted the estethics are really prone for debate. But somehow I have the gut feeling WG will eventually imply color palets in order to make it to your taste as much as possible. Now I'm by far a programmer: I can fairly make a "Bones" ("dammit Jim I'm a doctor, not a scientist!") for real. But IMO that shouldn't be too hard. Anyway: I'm highly interested in the perma cammo's. I really enjoy them on the ships for which they are already available. What I understand from the test account the cammo will buff xp, costs, XP and income! I know: it's still subject to change but it looks promising!

    First World Problems

quoted post removed Nope. Netherlands. Here a lot of people have the high urge to moan and complain while they are having hardly any problem at all and nearly all is going very well. Not saying all people for that matter but IMO a lot.

Super Container Loot Thread [ topics merged ]

I like the containers! My "tactic" is to stack them up and don't open them right away and I swap each unlocked container. And when I have a nice stock of them I'll open them when having a teardrawing losing streak! Yesterday I got a SC on TYL though. And no, I couldn't resist and opened it right away: 250 Kitt* flags!! Thanks! I really appreciate that. I also liked all the superprices the other people got. An Indiniapolis!! How freaking awesome is that!! Congratulations!!! * I'm a survivor of the 20th century. I mean Kitt from Knight Rider with his turbo boost...

Don't be pissed bro (sis?). IMO as long as peope are breathing, they're complaining. Come live in my home country for a week and you'll get a T10 pro complaining attitude...

    "I'm just a cook."

motion is up for vote! I say Yay! Love to have her as a nasty DD captain. Edit: and while we're at it. Could we please, please have the development team for RN captains please?? With a special mission: deduct 10 credits from their account for each citadel you take (20 from a German BB) and add 100 credtis for each shell that hits AND does damage (200 Ger BB's). Oh, if they'd want to do that I'd IMMEDIATLY start grinding the line!

An Idea to Improve Cruiser Play

I think I'm starting to get the idea behind this threads. Everybody wants to shine in combat, take away a Kraken in a "mediocre" game like they see on the YT channels. IMO those broadcasted YT movies are, even with those high skilled players, that 1 out of 100 excellent games. Cruiser play takes IMO the most skill. It's really the trick to figure out when to lay low profile or when to strike. If you time this well, you'll have the same effect against DD's as BB's against you. And to be clear: I fail miserably very often in that decision!

    The Kirov and RU boats

If you like DD gunboats, I think you'll love Soviet cruisers. Kirov and beyond have a different style. Their guns can pack hard punches switch ammo often and by all means: grind for demo expert asap. The strengths are pretty much their weaknesses too. Think like Stalin would have thought: a Soviet soldier does not retreat, so you won't need side armor. The nose is almost solid concrete though you can be overmatched though. And since you don't need to retreat, the turning circle is awfull but it can wiggle like a princess. Given the philosophy of always advancing, the sips are decievingly fast! So in combat: check your throttle a lot. I've found myself overextended in dozens of situations because the bloddy boats are so fast. The best way to quadruple your side armor is to camouflage paint it. AKA: forget you have it. Hit = cit. As simple as that or maybe overpen if you've prayed enough to RNG-us. Throw in a goat offering to be sure. Indeed with the Zombie apocalypse like Takedo put it wonderfully Soviet cruisers had a hard tim. The hype is dwindling IMO at the moment. Their strengths lies in DD hunting (they can very hardly outrun you or outsmoke you since radar and sonar are your friends). I'm often wandering "what DD?" That's like the RN against all other ships: point, shoot, sink. And they can put on a hell of a fight against other cruisers. In heavy BB presense: assist your own BB's with HE spam. And if you're caught in a BB knife fight: full steam ahead and go for the suicide torp attack/ ram. You'll probably won't survive but at least you'll go down in flames and will have dealt at least serious damage. A mid distance snipe fight with them is not compatible with a long gamelife. AA wise I'd qualify them as OK. By far the USN standard but also by far the IJN... Adapt to the situation, have patience and don't be scared to make mistakes. If you'll get the hang of it, you'll be feared and respected too. Oh, almost forgot: remember they have the same stealth as the Eiffer tower in Paris....

    Game improvements

And you didn't get the Kraken!? That sucks !! On topic: 1 IMO a good compromise would be to make the "middle" tier the predominant 1. Say 8T5's with 2 4's and 2 6's f.e. 2 I don't play the RN. I only delete them so I don't have commentory on that 1 3 Deto's suck indeed. But it's no major issue for me. Still have the feeling I'm equally shared on delivering as recieving them 4 like above reactions
  25. Though indeed extremely annoying because of the relentless hits you'll get and hear (it feels like you're being pummeled to smitherens) it isn't that hard: just turn and sail away towards help. Yes he can go in pursuit which he will do so with caution, so not to catch you up in his stealth range: that'll take double concentration combined with shooting. Eventually you will reach the rest of your team. And is he's hitting your@ss over and over, you'll get damage saturation eventually and no to very little extra damage taken. Furthermore: if he lits your aft, that's the absolute best way to prevent more fires. Fire damage can be nearly healed back completely. Oh and keep dodging: the further you'll get away, the harder it is for him to hit you. Unless you're a border hugging BB player (in which case IMO you don't deserve better) just bail out and the damage is managable. BB"s are AFAIK also designed to take a good beating and still function.
