Lol German is not my native speach as well (Ich bin kein Berliner). But my speach is quite highly related to German. So I never have much trouble pronouncing it. (-;

@ 3: zoom out your view very often and keep looking around your ship frequently! And with practice you'll learn where the torp hotspots are. And: keep moving and changing speed frequently and in irregular patern in order to pre-avoid torps. Should you be caught by a spread: in 99% of the cases: turn into the spread: 0 torps = better than 1 = better than 2 etc... Also bear in mind not to put out a fire too quickly!! Especially when a CV (carrier) is holding a grudge against you! Tactic is to drop bombs first, so you'll catch 1 or 2 fires and afterwards dropping a torp spread. Believe me: you'll rather let the fire burn out than you have to flood foor 1.30 minutes.... @ 4: if you come up with an answer to that. Plse lemme know!! In rare cases it happens to me I'm forced to the map border because of torp spam or focusfire. But that's rare and I turn around asap once it's clear again.

Just took her into battle again after a long time. She still feels like the ultimate fat slow schoolyard bully as "old times." Ahhh! Hell of a fight! And i feel really evil. Got a mouthfull of friendly torps at the end. We won the game anyhow so I let myself flood out having my repair ready so I'd not be TK-ed. The guy was sweating blood! I guess I've tought him a valuable lesson when NOT to torp. But I forgive him: he was only sailing a N-berg...

How to win and to keep winning, some advice for a good Winrate!
Ferry_25 replied to thisheep's topic in General Guides
Wonderfully written thisheep! Given your WR I must conclude you know what you're talking about. Not to sound arrogant': I am trying all those things you mentioned. Yet I cannot get over 51% WR. So I guess I've reached my optimal play. Of course that doesn't stop me to try to improve. I hope other people will see the value of your advice. -
Not that I'm aware of. Don't know how long it's been in port but i do know the player base is improving a lot. The main weakness of NM is it's bloody slow speed. So you are more depending on help. There's no yolo solo rush stampedes anymore: you'll get focussed out by those agile HE spamming cruisers. Also I've heard Bayern is a formidable opponent for NM. Because that ships does have speed. I was never "afraid" of my Fuso collegues: go ahead and snipe me from a distance. I'll just point my nose to you and tennisracket those shells off until I get into range. Still am not but like I said there are more people who understand the meaning of teamplay. And you don't want to be caught alone in a NM... Other than that I still find her a most awesome BB: spreading (eternal) freedom everywhere!

Battleship players: what is your problem? Why won't you tank?
Ferry_25 replied to Ferry_25's topic in Archive
KTKM4tw (I hope you'll reveil 1 day what that UN is meaning (-;), Your sitrep exactly illustrates what I mean. @ the time you took the screenshot I see everybody in a nice position, except those 2 BB's. They could have saved the situation by turning in and close the gap at your northern front. But I understand they just went sailing up the 1 line? I know the "trick" is to walk the thin red line between keeping distance (BB's aren't that good knifefighters) and camping. And I know: it can always happen you're being forced out of the frontline to the back when you have a DD on your rear. But in your case the cruisers are very well positioned so I don't see any reasons those 2 keep camping in the back. This kind of behaviour is really getting to me. Amazingly I see this in all tiers.... -
@ 5: and that means not even scratching a friendly ship. That's the hardest part of getting rid of pink. And I still find that ridiculous. but we've debated that matter fiercly elswhere and I am not intending to fuel that up again here. (-; @8: the higher the level the longer the retrain takes/ more doublons you pay.

I have 2 Q’s for the community. They have been burning me since i started this wonderful game. As I’ve stated earlier: the only dumb question is the one you’re not asking. So here’s my turn. 1 Does a fire on that particular section make you immune to more fires on that section? Or does the counter restart if a HE hit is causing a fire? 2 Expert rear gunner. From who’s point of view is the advantage? I assume the planes with rear gunners have that advantage (and I assume furthermore those are bomber/ torpplanes). But IMO it could also be interpreted as something else having that advantage against planes with rear gunners… So actually 2 questions: which planes have rear gunners and from whom’s POV is the advantage?
-
OK thanks. I was wondering about these issues. If I get a fire on section 1 say for 60 seconds and I let it burn out. Say I get another HE hit with fire, would it get back to 60 again or not? So I guess not given your answers. About the planes: in my "early days" I equiped all my ships with that skill, believing the ships got a 10% increase against those planes. That's how I interpreted then.

Ah Colorado... That was my PIA ship as well. I also cried out to the community for help regarding that ship. In my case that was nearly 8 months ago. I highly recommend upgrading the ship asap. Use free XP for that. The dispersion has been improved IMO so you won't be surprised is you are able to hit the sea water. My advice: be patient in battles and try to sneak up as close as possible. @ close range Colorado is a beast. Heck: I even respect her very much when playing a T8 or 9 BB when in close range... Patience is your ally. Could very well be you won't be able to do anything for 10 minutes. But is you get close enough the citadels you score will become even "boring."

I love Konig as well. She is so gentle to the proud RN line: everything Konig does to them is completely painless and humane... One moment the cruisers are sailing at the sea, the next they are sailing in paradise...

What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?

I have finished the IJN cruiser line. Unlocked Zao tonight! tried her 1 game and she looks very promising. Couldn't resist painting the beautiful ship with rich kids cammo! -
OK, I have a problem in my harem: too much of the same, gorgious, females. The offer is: 3 Hiei, 1 Kirishima, 1 Myoko, 1 Haruna, 1 Haguro, 1 KONGO!! and 1 Ashigara. Don't get me wrong: those females are one by one gorious. They do whatever you want. But as a simple shieck I cannot give them the same treatment... My fellows: please give those lovely ladies the honour they deserve. I'll open my bidding at the extreme price of 1 Camel, 2 goats and 10 bars of gold. Who wants to bid higher for them? Edit: overshoot... (typo)

Immeasurable Frustration - The biggest loss streak I ever had at the worst time
Ferry_25 replied to ColdHeat's topic in General Discussion
We've been through this a lot of times. I have those streaks as well. Came to find out they will wear off sooner or later. For me I drew the conclusion that WR is not important to me. I'm @ the 50-50 range for ages now. So what? I only have 1/12th part influence in the win chance. All I can do is my utmost best. Win/ lose? I couldn't care less. I play for fun and my fun is trying to win by doing all I can to contribute to that. I've had epic loss matches and hellish boring wins. IMO this "frustration" is fueled up by the ARP missions... Personally I like the missions and the crazy ARP ships (only the music in the Y-port is getting on my nerves quickly). But I decided to "actively pursue" the missions as minimal as possible. Wanted to har Takao really bad so I operated in the T8-9 regions (in which I'm grinding @ the moment anyway). I've completed all of them except for miss Green hair ship (forgot that name). Actually whithout noticing it too much even. For Mss Green I only need to wreck 4 soviet ships. Now, this could potentially be as "frustrating" as the win mission: I'm depending on Soviet ships @ the red teams and for him/ her to sail across my guns/ torps. But hey: we have plenty of time. in 2 months it should be doable to get 20 ships from each nation? -
ARP Takao? nah, prepare for the ARP Nachi pain
Ferry_25 replied to Jvd2000's topic in General Discussion
I Conquered Takao's heart tonight! *proud* But Nachi is going to be a problem... The only Russian ships I encounter are on my side... I sure as hell am not taking out a Russian boat until this mission is over. -
Battleship players: what is your problem? Why won't you tank?
Ferry_25 replied to Ferry_25's topic in Archive
Exactly my point. Though when to open fire is a tactic as well... Do I open up when a ship comes barely in my range? Probably miss and do I want to draw that early attention? That way I can easily force myself into a sniping position because of focus fire... I usually wait a few seconds more until they are closer: more chance to hit and make a difference. And in those seconds I can already start to go left or right beforehand, so I can fire full BS while turning, so the return salvo's come in while I'm angled again. Doesn't always work mind you: I often found myself laying full BS to that BB which has done the exact same trick as I had in the middle of the turn. -
Battleship players: what is your problem? Why won't you tank?
Ferry_25 replied to Ferry_25's topic in Archive
Man. That sounds like an awefull game! I recently had something similar. Ok, no friendly firing jerk but I was pushing in the desert islands map (forgot the name of course). In the middle section, around the islands to get some cover while shooting like crazy in my Iowa. Nearly the whole team stayed @ the map border, shouting I was camping... When I shot my kraken, they finally dared to push with me. My whole point is: IMO if the BB pushes (=/= rushing forward like a maniac into the meat grinder) the rest (cruisers and other BB's) should be inclined to follow. And stay close (=/= hugging and paint scratching) the BB. DD's ahead (=/= 20 km ahead) and push to an objective. Or at least to a sensible position. The cruisers can adept to the upcoming situations (rush forward when DD's, fall back when BB's). That way IMO gives the best chance to win. No guarantee of course but at least fun battles in which skill is getting more important. Is it me or is there a new trend coming up? All ships going to 1 useless corner of the map... -
Hm. Of course never a good idea to give BS. But not always avoidable. Don't have hard numbers to back me up but IMO Iowa is not more "prone" or vulnerable for citadels than Izumo. Don't have T9 German (I always forget if it's the Knakwurst or Fridriech...) yet so I can't compare that yet. Tirpitz has an underwater citadel IIRC. So that's much better protected. Though not guaranteed of course. But what Iowa does have is a nose of solid concrete. If the red ship is not responding when called "Hey, Yama!" the only way to deal damage is by HE. It's in fact very intimidating when a Iowa is steaming nose on to you... (when you're not in a DD of course...)
-
I'll wait this one out for awhile. Still have to get well familiar with Belfast. Bought it as soon as it was in store. But the "Yamato effect" (Hey it's a Yamato, let's shoot it because it's a Yamato) drove me off again. It did win us the game because the reds were obsessed by "killing the P2W-er... But from my POV it wasn't exactly fun) Right now I'm battling for the ARP challenges. Not so much a extreme ARP ship play fan, I just like the challenge. Need 7 bloody USSR ships and 4 victories before having them all! (previous I already have). I did see the reviews and I find that smoke technique very interesting.
-
I don't mind at all is they're trying to make a profit. As much as I like collecting the ships I won't buy everything they "throw at me" though. And I don't really understand why you seem to be upset OP? There's always the free will factor? You are not obliged to buy premium ships? Or to grind the RN line? There are 4 other cruiserlines equiped with HE. P2W? Hm considering I'm a wallet player I don't feel it that way in any respect. Which is good: I want the same treatment/ chances as everybody has. Only thing which is IMO fair is giving me some advantages (better XP/ credit income rates) for paying for things (which I highly like of course) makes me contribute on carrying this game so everybody can enjoy it.
-
IMO Iowa is 1 of the best BB's in game. Can deal hell of punches. I've chosen for the combat layout. Band AFT on the captain kicks up the AA rating as well. But main reason is the secondary buff it gets. IIRC secondaries are weakest T2T on the BB's but that's relative: in secondary range Iowa can bite back very hard. AA rating is high enough for me. CV's aren't that common. But I let myself get separated from the fleet and there was a CV. If he's commited he'll take you out. Cost him about 20 planes but down I went. That was a once incident in my case. It's entirely up to you.

I think there are more people from the main Naval country (Netherlands) than we (me included) are realising... Look me up in port. I'm divisioning with some good players. And we can talk Dutch over daaro! (-;
-
Hmmm. I must make a slight nuance: MY German BB's can be perfectly citadeled. But that must be because I'm a noob. Somehow I get citadeled From 20 km's away, undetected, bla, bla, bla. Their speed? yeah, very decent. But try outrun a platoon of red cruisers and enemy support BB's when you're focussed... Superior armor? Granted: they can take a hell of a beating, of which even Warpsite will raise her eyebrows. But the Napalm paint is saying otherwise. NC vs a Bismarck??? Bring it on Bisbitch, give me your worst punch with your secondaries. Try my primaries and while you're at it: I have decent secondaries as well..Ah, i can understand you don't notice them with that "peep sound" in your ears.... But: NC vs a Tirpitz is a slightly different matter though. That's where my POV 180' changes... Those torps do miracles..... Hi NC, Bye, NC...
