Is a Pan-European tech tree wanted?

If WG included the Canarias class cruiser (Providing that it is politically acceptable) then they could do the research for the Royal Navy County Class heavy cruiser at the same time. If we can have a split of US cruisers then we can have at least a partial line of RN heavies! (And no daft gimmicks!)

From Reddit - Official WG Commander's Skills calculator

Due to in-breeding some of us can count up to 19 WITHOUT having to use toes.
  3. Tone could still be in the game with some creative thinking. For example you could just launch multiple planes as if you had the Tier 1 captain skill DCCA built-in for example. Then muck about with the values of the guns to make sure that Tone is balanced against other cruisers. It should not be difficult for WG - they muck about with everything.

So, how about some love for the middle tiers?

Which begs the question: How come the other tiers are not as balanced? (It's a rhetorical question, so no need to answer - we all know why)

    World of Warship’s Third Anniversary

Yeah, but with you guys we have to start early to try to pound the ideas into your heads! QUESTION: How do you make a WG guy laugh on a Monday? ANSWER: Tell them a joke on a Friday
  7. #1 HMS Dreadnought There was a virtuous discussion in the Forum about whether this ship really was "first". However, rightly or wrongly it gave its name to the "Dreadnought Battleship" upon which an entire plague class is based in the game. #2 SMS Seydlitz A warrior of a ship. Dished out severe punishment to the enemy and also took severe damage but still fought her way back to port. #3 Everything that @Nechrom says in the post above.
  8. Regarding the language for the pan european ships, they could have English as a default, but provide translations in national languages. Though for Hungarian they should not use this as a reference: Monty Python Hungarian Phrase Book

Thanks to WG for GO NAVY! event!

A decent event sadly spoiled by its ending. 6 out of 10. WG must try harder but I believe that mediocrity is ultimately achievable. Wargaming have effectively stopped me spending money because I cannot buy the containers I need! That is commercial madness. There is no way that I can predict how many common containers that I'll need to buy from the shop (for the second camo) until the event is finished. Taking them away before the event finished was a rotten decision and I'm surprised that Wargaming did not see it. But...it was a step forward and it shows that Wargaming are gaining experience on how to create these big events.
  10. - Global CBs (I don't play them but I applaud this for those that do) - More RN DDs (More applause. The new RN DD line may be great, but initial views are not promising for me personally. An alt branch may be the salvation for me) - WoWS anniversary (mixed. i fear that the rewards will be greatly inferior to last year) - Pan EU "nation" added to game (WILD applause. Now WG can add some interesting ships from nations not represented in the game)

    Dallas - Why?

Well it just goes to show that we are all different. LOL! Phoenix is my most played ship, most successful ship, and most fun ship! In fact, it's probably the only non-German ship that I would call "favourite ship at its tier". (Not counting the Roon/Fletcher tie at tier 9) Happy sailing to you! You are one of the most helpful posters on the forum!

    Dallas - Why?

Well, not entirely - because if the enemy are nowhere near you I feel you sometimes HAVE to fight like a man in more open situations (rather than stay huddled behind an island doing nothing). It does seem to me that IF CIRCUMSTANCES ALLOW then your playing advice is excellent! Funny thing is that I quite like the rest of the line: Helena( a lot), the "new" Cleveland, and Seattle. I don't have Worcester yet. (And loved the Phoenix & Omaha that precede Dallas). I wanted to like Dallas, but can't. Maybe it is related to the fact that it is too much of a "come down" after the old tier 6 Cleveland. But...another deserved salute for your excellent reply.

    Dallas - Why?

If you find out how to make Dallas work (without the moronic, boring and immersion-destroying tactic of hiding behind islands while your team mates go into harms way to spot for you) then please tell me. The Cleveland was considered too strong at tier 6, and whatever replaced it would have to be weaker of course, but the Dallas goes too far in this regard IMHO. The Cleveland was far tankier when facing other cruisers and destroyers, and other comparisons between the two are illuminating. Hit Points - Big advantage to Cleveland with almost 29 % more health! (36,500 v 28,300) Main Armament - Big advantage to Cleveland with better Rate of fire, dispersion and range(!). Dallas has better turret rotation . Secondary Armament - Advantage to Cleveland with better Rate of fire Anti Aircraft - Advantage to Cleveland with much better Long-Range AA Maneuvrability - Even Concealment - Advantage to Dallas (11.9 base versus 13.3)
  14. I love the idea of somehow getting ships from the Netherlands into the game, and Lert's proposal looks workable. The only drawback that I see about the proposal is that it is for a tier 4 ship - and WG seem to insist on Tier 5 and above for missions & challenges (tier 8+ in some cases).

Go Navy boxes have been removed from premium shop. Why?

I got a permanent camo for the Des Moines by collecting tokens via the loyalty system. The only reason that I carried on playing this sh!t was to get a second permanent camo (for the Worcester). I was planning on buying some containers to get the necessary extra tokens for this. It's entirely my own fault - I should have known that WG would have some little trick to catch people out like this. All hidden in the detail of course - and who would expect that special event containers would be withdrawn BEFORE THE EVENT ENDED. Bad show IMHO! My hate level towards WG has gone up a couple of notches.

    T9&10 incoming balance desaster

Well not EVERYBODY, obviously. But when he wrote that, I'm sure that he was thinking of YOU being the "1"

    Collectors club

With so many ships in port they should invite you (and similar enthusiasts) to the Staff Christmas Party! EDIT: Come to think of it, 233 is coincidentally the number of bottles of vodka they consumed at the last Staff Christmas party. (Not bad going for just 15 people!)

Dev diaries 0.7.8 hints and clues - speculation mode ON

Wargaming's approach can be summed up as "We don't need no stinking badges testing" From the Treasure of Sierra Madre
  19. I think that your argument is perfectly plausible and clever - no need for a tin-foil hat. Trouble is the skill wall is too high for me. I am as good as I will ever get at this game. (played since open beta and still mediocre). I forced myself to grind to Minotaur and Conqueror out of a mixture of patriotic duty and hope. I don't like them at all, or the sh***y port they provide for them. Thank God for the German fleet. Without it (and a few nice ships from France & Japan) I would give up this game. Sorry about the downbeat post, but I am peed off.

My hopes for the new cv ui

Yes, there are always two sides to every story. On a second point we must remember that low- and mid-tiers have a different Carrier versus Target feel about them, and that is where people's first impressions about CVs are formed. The trouble with "First Impressions" is that they are very difficult to get rid of. That is where a lot of the fear/dislike of carriers comes from. (That, and +2/-2 matchmaking when carriers are involved.) Having said all that, I hoped that WG could just fix the current UI and other issues without the radical changes that have been revealed in this thread. It's deeply sad IMHO.
  21. "All things being equal" your argument is a good one. By itself, having a DD line which has a high skill ceiling (with a potentially high reward as compensation) is "a good thing". I' am sure that loads of players will love it. My issue with all this is to wonder why Royal Navy ships not only have to be different to other lines (again "a good thing") but so RADICALLY different. Why couldn't Wargaming have spread the ultra-weirdness out among several nations rather than putting all their eggs in one basket? They could have used the proposed RN DD style for an Italian or French DD line for example.

    Pin-ups 2018?

Maybe. But needing to go through a sex-change would put me off. OTOH what have I got to lose? (Sorry - recycling the old Eunuch joke)
  23. "defensive" role? Now I know that Wargaming are taking the p. I know that this is an arcade game and not a simulation, but some historical truths have to be followed or the whole thing becomes a sham (which maybe it already is). The Royal Navy is not "defensive" - its traditions are to attack the enemy and attempt to seize the initiative. And that goes for all RN combat ships - ESPECIALLY DESTROYERS!
