Coop vs Random RN missions etc Have you increased Coop play
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to Gnirf's topic in General Discussion
I salute all those contributors to this thread who have discussed the advantages of PvE play in a common sense and grown-up manner! (There are disadvantages of PvE play of course, but that can wait for another thread)- 36 replies

Spot the "odd man out" from that list!

A very nice thread this! It's dominated by a handful of players, but they are providing very useful insights and analysis. Well done! There are only one or two people willy-waving.

Request: Commonwealth and RN Skippers
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to BeauNidl3's topic in General Discussion
Yes - but you have to realize that it is a question of priorities. Obviously the Russian Battleship line must be high priority after their defeat of the combined Anglo/German Fleet at the battle of Jutland, and of course Russian Carriers cannot come to soon, so that their efforts in crushing the Japanese fleet at the Battle of Midway can be honoured. -
Poll on WG points mentioned during CV rework video
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to KarmaQU_EU's topic in General Discussion
If it is frustrating for the Battleships then WG will very quickly nerf carriers, so as not to upset the master race. If it frustrating for Targets Cruisers then fewer people will want to play them >>> so fewer counters to Destroyers >>> more pain to battleships >>> WG will very quickly nerf carriers If it is frustrating for Destroyers then Wargaming will react in the same way as they have to the issue of battleship AP damage to DDs >>> think about it for 18 months BTW, Great comments in several previous posts about skilled CV players who will now find these skills irrelevant. That is a bummer, and I know how I would feel in that situation. -
Do you have a link to what he said? Alternatively are you able to quote it?

"...when you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth?" Sherlock Holmes in "The Sign of the Four" Well then the only explanation must be that my powers have declined, and probably by the 25% the I quoted. (TBH I have felt that I was actually regressing for quite a while now). It a bit sad, but nothing is forever, and it's only a game.

My two cents worth. Narai (and several other ops seem a lot tougher), but I don't notice much difference in random teams. I notice that it is tougher for ME personally. So either: a) My own effectiveness in the game has dropped significantly (say 25% or more), or b) Wargaming have made (at least some) ops significantly tougher. I suggest the answer is option (b), and that Wargaming have done it because people were farming operations too much, and making grinding lines easier. [I myself used "Cherry Blossom" to make the god-awful Cleveland grind easier. (*) ] It's similar to the way that standard containers don't give the rewards that they used to, IMHO. (*) Please, no willy waving from good players about how they think the Cleveland is perfectly fine. I get it and respect your skills.

Remind me, Sovereigns expire when again?
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to The_Finnster's topic in General Discussion
Thank You. Do you have a link to an official announcement for this, i.e that RN Containers will be replaced as rewards for the RN Event by halloween Containers? -

Developer Diaries: Update 0.7.10 - Discussion Thread
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to The_EURL_Guy's topic in News & Announcements
More action packed than ever! Halloween events have "hard" mode I see, but I will stick to "potato" mode! :-) Loved Valeriya's sense of humour...and Oleg & Boleg. Looking forward to it. -
I've seen it suggested that carriers could be removed from the map entirely. Presumably then, if all non-carriers in a battle were to be sunk and both sides had a carrier, then the survivors would not be able to affect the outcome of the match further, and it might just as well just end. Or do the survivors just wait for the CAP count to get to 1000, or the battle timer to drop to zero seconds?

Hindenburg Nerf - An conceptual failure
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to mariouus's topic in General Discussion
For heaven's sake OP, please do not confuse the Wargaming Developers with the facts! Their heads will explode! (Stops, as a thought creeps into my mind) I've changed my mind. Keep going OP - you are doing a great job! DISCLOSURE: I finally got the Hindenburg just days before it got nerfed. -

It is not a game for "snowflakes" A Canadian friend told me a few old hockey jokes: #1 What has 38 arms and 7 teeth? Answer= A Hockey team #2 A man went to the sports arena to see a fight.........and a Hockey game broke out. -

How can hockey EVER become annoying to a Canadian? Although, given your location, you may well be a Maple Leafs fan, so that is a little bit understandable! -
Main Battery Reload Booster - What's the verdict?
Admiral_H_Nelson posted a topic in General Discussion
What do people think of the Main Battery Reload Booster consumable? Like it/dislike it? Improves the ships/makes it worse? I get the feeling that it is a matter of taste, rather than being something that is "right" or "wrong". Personally I prefer consistently faster reload rather than short bursts of rapid fire, and I am not comfortable that the mechanic behind it involves a consumable. (I was at St.Louis but I've mothballed the cruiser grind now, and mover over to French Battleships instead) What do forumites think? Maybe you can make me change my mind. (I'm often wrong, sadly.) -
Well, that is good advice......but remember that there are people who would rather sell their own family for medical experiments than play a CV.

Royal Navy Event - Absolutely frustrating/unfair
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to poperzenp3ter's topic in General Discussion
There is an argument to be made that someone who invests a lot of money in Wargaming by buying these lottery-related type of containers SHOULD get some sort of guaranteed reward - not based on "moral" consideration but purely business ones (e.g. the payout from a one-armed-bandit machine to encourage the punter to keep playing.) I have the Acasta, Icarus, and Jervis in port. I'm 25% of the way to getting Lightning. (Also have Gallant & Cossack as it happens) I've been "lucky", but at a price of buying lots of containers. I probably got carried away. Should I have been saved from myself? Don't know. I am very happy with the result - but then I got what i wanted even at a large cost. I was apprehensive about the Royal Navy DD line (after failing to like the Cruiser and Battleship lines). However the RN Destroyers have been a pleasant surprise. Very, very pleasant. Of course I am a potato in them but it doesn't matter. They are fun and the first DD line that I would really like to invest time into learning how to play them better. (Other DD lines leave me rather cold TBH, even though I have two tier X) -

Alexander Ovechkin - Dual Russian/American special captain
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to Aragathor's topic in General Discussion
As others have said previously, I agree completely with this. Are you listening Wargaming? I've got a Premium ship called "Perth" which is wasted because I cannot justify playing it at the moment. I am uncomfortable that Wargaming seem wedded to the concept of the lottery with missions and events. The first element of the event is all great. It directly rewards effort and commitment by the players. (From the website) What I feel uneasy about is that once again the other awards come from missions randomly dropped from containers (just like the RN Destroyer missions in the current event). This means that the link between effort, commitment and earning containers ... SUPPORTING THE DAMN GAME FOR HEAVEN'S SAKE .... is replaced (albeit partially) by luck. The container missions. BTW, that one about "..unique camouflage for aircraft carrier Lexington" looks a bit of a booby prize - considering the carrier rework!
