Discussion thread for "some interesting info around the world"
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to Deamon93's topic in General Discussion
Relax you guys! The Balancing Department have bought some new equipment, specially for the CV rework. -
Anybody else had their forum settings changed?

I commend you on your use of the English language. Shakespeare could not have put it better. -
Have you no heart?! That's the equivalent of telling a little child that Santa Claus does not exist.

Your reply is excellent! Please make sure that you save it and re-post it whenever threads such as this one are created. "In short, the experience needs to suck enough -- but not quite too much -- to keep you grinding." Agreed, while remembering that what ever level of grind Wargaming set will be tolerable to some and intolerable to others. I have ten tier X ships and will work to get the USS Worcester and HMS Daring, but I have no stomach for grinding the other remaining lines TBH.

URGENT! What happens to captains in Acasta, Icarus, Jervis & Lightening tomorrow?
Admiral_H_Nelson posted a topic in General Discussion
I only ask because I got burned when the US cruiser split happened earlier this year (untrained captains problem). For those lucky enough to get the ships, they came with a three point captain. However, I think that many of us used the temporary Premium status to put more experienced captains in them. MY QUESTION: At the release of 0.7.10, are Captains assigned to the four RN ships mentioned in the title automatically re-trained to the ship that they are in WITHOUT COST? Thanks in advance. -
From NA forum (but appliciable to EU as well - 1 day later): "PSA: British Early-Access Destroyers, Final Call."
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
Thank You. I hate uncertainty. It is an entirely reasonable to ask questions such as "what happens to captains on temporary premium ships when they stop being premium?". When future official Wargaming releases throw up legitimate questions such as these I will take you up on your promise to answer them. Of course I trust you to keep your word. But having dealt with Wargaming before I have copied the screen just in case.- 20 replies

Exactly! @Sehales you are talking nonsense. We are less that 24 hours away from 0.7.10 and this important point remains unresolved AND UNANNOUNCED OFFICIALLY. I know that Wargaming communication is famously bad - but they are reaching new lows this time.- 20 replies

"2019 is the Year of the Collectors Club" (Actually, I have already started selling ships for much-needed credits to finance my habit. Some of them I have never played, or last played about two tears ago!)

I don't know if this report in Wikipedia is true (maybe some of our Polish shipmates can confirm/deny), but if it is then I find it quite moving: QUOTE According to one report (detailed at the Auschwitz I exhibition, Oświęcim, Poland), Pławski transmitted the message "I am a Pole" before commencing fire on Bismarck; other sources say the signal to commence fire was "Trzy salwy na cześć Polski" ("Three salvoes in honor of Poland").[ END-QUOTE

Has the tier VIII MM been altered?
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to Blixies's topic in General Discussion
If that is indeed the case then it's a shame that Arms Race mode is being (temporarily?) removed from the game. -
Interaction of large-caliber AP shells with DDs
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to Episparh's topic in General Discussion
I reckon this is a setup for the new consumable "Destroyer Alert". Properties: - Unlimited use with 30 second cool down - Cost 30,000 silver per use - Instant switch of all loaded Main Battery ammunition to HE [/sarcasm] -

It will be purchasable via the new French-only resource - "Champagne". The cost is 150 bottles, and bottles may only be purchased in the shop. A pack of 10 bottles costing 10 Euros. [/Sarcasm] -

Agreed - or we could just allow RN Captains to use Commonwealth ships and serve on the HMAS Perth! A Dido class cruiser would be nice though. While we are at it, my German fleet would like a mid-tier light cruiser for training captains. (Maybe something such as the Leipzig?). -
Radio location - just how approximate a bearing does it give?
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to cracktrackflak's topic in General Discussion
The radio location graphic that is shown in game consists of an arc. I always treat this informations as telling me that the nearest enemy ship is somewhere in the direction covered by the arc. -
Request: Commonwealth and RN Skippers
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to BeauNidl3's topic in General Discussion
Brilliant idea! love it. Whether they liked it or not the fact is that during the period covered by WoWS the crews of both Commonwealth and British ships swore allegiance to the SAME KING and fought side by side in integrated units. There is a far stronger case for RN & Commonwealth Captains serving in each others ships than this Mickey-Bloody-Mouse idea of a captain being able to serve in both Russian and American ships. (What imbecile thought up that idea?) -

Someone on reddit ( called "CN_W" made a highly possible suggestion: " Best guess? Based on precedent (French BB and USN CL collections), a camo for the Lightning and perhaps an alternate pattern for Cossack " I would be happy with that for a small (16 item) collection! -

Interaction of large-caliber AP shells with DDs
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to Episparh's topic in General Discussion
Well, I do support this change, but you are correct that it will have consequences. Who knows what they will all be? They may include: - More thoughtful play by BB players in selecting ammo type - More braindead play by BB players just selecting HE all the time "to be on the safe side" - More captain build for BBs which max out secondary armament power - More YOLO play from DDs who think that they can get away with it - Different target selection by BBs (some may prioritize DDs as a target, others will think that the rewards of shooting anything else would be better) - and many others that clever people will think of. But regardless, you need to do what is right, and the present system is unjust IMHO. -

Nerf a British ship?!!!! Come back home T0by - you've gone native! -
** Wild Applause ** If I ever write a post to the forum even half as good as this one then I will be delighted. (And I am too old and cynical to worry about anyone who thinks my reply is OTT) In particular, I'm glad that you explained the burn-out issue so clearly. The constant grinding under the pressure of "Fear of missing out" is an act of self-harm by Wargaming that hurts the players enthusiasm for the game. Sometimes "Less is More".

Poll: How many UK DD missions did you get?
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to ColonelPete's topic in General Discussion
Salute to Belgium for doing that! (Already had a special affection for Belgium. It was the first country that I visited as a youngster, and had a wonderful time) I was very lucky because I got all four missions. I DID buy premium containers from the shop though. It was doubly lucky for me because I have been delighted with the way that the Royal Navy DDs play (and previous RN content has left me underwhelmed, of course). Even if you have been unlucky with the RN missions (and I am not a fan of the way that is has been handled), please don't let it put you off the Royal Navy destroyers - they are great fun even when you get blapped! -
