I can do well in the epicenter mode but I just hate playing it. I have these choices when pitched into an epicenter game: 1) Just Quit. I've never done this in ANY game. Never. In a fit of rage/frustration I once threatened to do it in a previous thread about epicenter - and got sanctioned by Wargaming. 2) Try to play "normally" (If anything is normal in that awful mode) This just wastes up to 20 minutes of my valuable time doing something unpleasant and raising my blood pressure. 3) YOLO This always does damage (usually a lot more than playing "normally") before I die, and at least draws fire away from my team mates. It also quickly frees me up to play another game.

Naval Aviation: The Shift from Second to Third-Generation Fighter Aircraft in Japan - Discussion Thread

This was a great read. I love learning things and this article taught me lots! Well done! -
Being a Tottenham fan I've often felt that Spurs sometimes think that football is such a game!

What kind of weapon do you prefer?

I did not know the origin. I thought that you made it up and I was impressed by its profundity. I'm afraid that I'm going to have to drop your rank from "Super Hero" to just "Hero". -

Verdius - the Confucious of World of Warships! Total respect! (I wish that I could write something that profound instead of the dribble that I usually spew forth) -
Superb write-up by the OP! I regret that I can only give it one "like". It feels as if this is an attempt by Wargaming to:- a) create a new entertaining battle type b) test out possible new mechanics or consumables for the main game. 10 out of 10 for (a). I'm still undecided about (b). In particular, 1) Ring of Fire - trying to stop camping is good. Enforcing brawling is bad IMHO. The balance needs to be right. 2) Biotic Armor - I know that realism has to take second place to playability. But making damage turn into heals is just taking the pish. 3) Anything that grants heals not just to your own ship but also to team mates. 4) Infernal Accuracy - the last thing squishy cruisers need is super-accurate battleships OTOH I think that these have possibilities because they potentially let squishy ship make a mistake without inst-deletion:- 1) Covert Repair 2) Perpetual Engine Boost

Yes. YOU find it acceptable ( ), but the problem is convincing all those players who just care about having good stats. It's a long, tough road to do that but achievable. - Like getting people to quit smoking... - or eat healthy food.... - or getting Wargaming balancing Department to stop using a sledgheammer as their balancing tool.

The Pumpkin harvest has gone rotten this year.
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to Blixies's topic in General Discussion
Opening my five containers, I received: #1: 3 x type 3 halloween camo #2: 3 x halloween camo #3: 3 x storm wind camo #4: 3 x type 3 halloween camo #5: 3 x type 3 halloween camo (which is typical of the crap that I have been getting from these rotten pumpkins) ... meh! I opened these when I logged on to the game. I almost logged off immediately. (As it was, I didn't hang around as long as usual) -
Both Ranked Battles and Clan Battles have an element of skill based MM in them. Players can get a feeling of satisfaction and reward by progressing up the ranks in one, and up through the various leagues/divisions in the other. Win rate does not come into it. (There is a secondary element of how quickly you can progress though) In Random Battles the argument is made that skill based MM would affect(lower) win rate, and that good players don't want that. I understand that. If I were a good player then I personally would want to keep the status quo. However, maybe for the good of the game we need to think about having divisions of players, with promotion/relegation. As well as the honour of playing in higher division(s) you could give material rewards such as coal, gold, flags etc to encourage players to accept the system.

Top comment! I wish that Wargaming would stop this gambling crap and properly reward those who actually put money into the game pro rata. -
Legendary tiex X upgrades missions expire on 31.12
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to Mik1984's topic in General Discussion
If Wargaming wanted to use a placeholder date, tehn why did they select 31 Dec 2018? Why not set it far into the future, such as 31 Dec 2028? (The carrier rework might be finished by then) -

I must admit that the novelty of subs has worn off. I'm only playing them for the RN missions now. -

1 Year of Co-Op/PvE - Analysis of 1300 games (XP, Credits etc) using MxStats.
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to IanH755's topic in General Discussion
I noticed more T10 players also. I think there are several reasons for this, including:. 1) More people getting tier 10 ships (I myself had none this time last year. But I was close in a number of lines. Now I have eleven tier ten ships.) Therefore you get more PvP players trying them out in co-op, as well as more co-op "mains" playing their ships . 2) People switching to co-op to play some high tier ships due to issues with the PvP playstyle, or not feeling good enough to compete in PvP. 3) People just switching to co-op generally, regardless of tier. 4) The new Wargaming rewards system that came in with the "Sharks v Eagles" event, and continues in the "Hall of Fame" running currently. It is more profitable and relaxing to get points by playing (at least some) co-op games. There has been at least one thread where players have discussed this. Very interesting analysis, BTW. -
Absolutely not! (Hence my sarcasm about " shy, retiring Social justice Warrior") My personal views are 180 degrees from those of his ilk. Just doing a bit of gentle leg-pulling!

Who is this @ShuggieHamster person who said: " Fara bring a very different take on many things whereas the other 3 tend to deliver a similar view. He tells it as he sees it whereas the others tend to filter AND he's scottish - gods chosen people! " Well, yes, the Scots are a multi-talented people who punch above their weight and are worthy of great respect, but..... Is he not aware of the great quote by Cecil Rhodes (that shy, retiring Social justice Warrior from the Victorian era) who said to Lord Grey: " ... you are an Englishman, and have subsequently drawn the greatest prize in the lottery of life "

People have rightly pointed out that in real life there were subs with rear firing torpedo tubes. Allow me to rephrase my objection. The rear firing tubes were only to take advantage of specific (rare) tactical situations. The doctrine of all navies was to attack with front-tubes as the overwhelmingly preferred method of attack. It was WoWS which peddled this fantasy line about firing torps to disable the target then dive under it and finish it off with the rear tubes. In the Operation, everybody charges forwards in a feeding frenzy and just demolishes the opposition. Those submarines with only forward-firing tubes have a huge advantage. I never get close enough to an enemy ship to dive under it - because even random teams are slaughtering them before I can get there.!
-
That design seems retarded to me - as well as taking another massive leap away from realism in the game. Just fit the torpedo tubes at the rear to the bow of the ship and do the job in one go. (Nothing personal Blixies, I'm just feeling particularly violent towards Wargaming gimmicks today)

Super Container Loot Thread [ topics merged ]
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to ThePurpleSmurf's topic in General Discussion
Earlier today after my first game (a very nice game) I won a so-caller "Supercontainer". Then the anti-climax. I calculate that this is worth approximately 625k in Silver (since I'm grinding tier 8/9 with quite low credit rewards at the moment)'. A "standard" container with some coal in it would have been more useful! I don't need flags, camo, free XP, elite XP, premium time, gold or silver since I have spent a lot of money on the game. The only thing that would feel really "super" is a ship - but ofc I have never gotten one of those from a supercontainer.. Supercontainers are quite counter-productive to my morale TBH. When they were first introduced they were good, but the rewards are much poorer now - rather like the containers sold in the premium shop. I wish that I could gift them to someone else. I struggled on for a few more games then just quit. -
@OP For YOU personally, go with random battles. For ME though there is the moral dilemna Randoms give more, but I don't wan't to pollute a tier X team with my presence. (Being serious here, and NOT looking for any sympathy because none is deserved.) Good Luck with your mission!

That's nothing! Check out this Italian gun cleverly camouflaged as a building.

halloween Submarines! Submarines everywhere!
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to Tuccy's topic in General Discussion
The devs did a great job with this. Not quite as much fun for me personally as the classic April Fools "Captain's Bathtub", but a pleasant experience for 3-4 games. I wouldn't like to see this in competitive games, because it feels full-on arcade mode. However it would be great to add to the regular rota of Operations. Wargaming could set up some grind-y missions (maybe for tier X ships to give people yet more incentive to play them) so that people could win submarines,. They could also offer them for sale to us wallet warriors. Come on Wargaming! Don't miss the chance of a cash grab marketing opportunity! -

Admiral_H_Nelson replied to Deamon93's topic in General Discussion
Quite....but in a cruiser ...at tier 8? (EDIT..and Reload Booster!) I feel really uncomfortable with this. However I suppose they need to try these out on larger ships than destroyers. (In preparation for when they fit them on Soviet Battleships.)
