When is the Pasta being served?
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to fallenkezef's topic in General Discussion
Yes. High time we had a proper line of Italian ships in the game. A very interesting navy IMHO, and unfairly underrated by a good many people. However, as a francophile I cannot agree that the French navy was minor! -

"Alternate Standard mode" - don't like the sound of that concept. It sounds like a painful reminder of certain bodily changes that happen when you get older. -
Everything You Need to Know About the Royal Navy Destroyers Collection - Discussion Thread
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to The_EURL_Guy's topic in News & Announcements
" Having completed the sections of the collection, you will get a chance to mount a second flag on British destroyers, cruisers, battleships, and ships of the Commonwealth. The main rewards for completing collection are unique camouflages for Tier VII Premium destroyer Haida and Tier VIII destroyer Lightning. " oh.....kayyyyyyyyyy. 1) I've almost finished the Lightning grind (when the camo would have been useful). Only 18k XP to go. 2) Much as I love Canada, the Commonwealth line is gimped so I won't be getting haida. 3) I'm mystified why having a second flag is so great. So a definite "meh" to this collection. -

Yes, and as a bonus all the Premium RN ships were real ships (And were either famous in their own right, or fought in famous actions). Most of the RN paper seems to be in the RN Cruiser armour! -

Cool. Mind you, HMS Daring was a bit "late". -
30% coupon CAN be used for Jean Bart!
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to Blixies's topic in General Discussion
I found out that the coupon could be used for Jean Bart only after the coupon expired. (It was fairly short duration at three days). I could not find anything else that I wanted in the store. (There were lots of nice items of course - but I had already purchased them previously). I would have been attracted to Jean Bart. So Wargaming have lost a sale - unless they want to issue me with a new coupon. -
Received a 30% coupon but don t have what to spend it on...
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to 22cm's topic in General Discussion
Decided not to use the 30% Coupon. When I looked in the shop, I could not find much of a use for it. ++ All of the attractive(to me) ships in the shop are already in my port. ++ About 300 days premium still outstanding (and if things go according to plan I won't even use all of that). ++ Over 16k in gold, and nothing to use it on. The only remotely interesting stuff (e.g. flags) was already discounted and not eligible for the coupon. -
cv rework CV Rework Beta Test - Feedback thread
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to Crysantos's topic in General Discussion
If he is without air cover because it is his own fault, then a big fat "Yes". If it is not due to his own fault, then simply "No". Punished for major deficiencies in your own play is fine. Punished for inbuilt limitations in the game is not. The same privilege applies to ALL classes. -
@Cyclops_ @Ataxia In the USA people have a nice thing that they do when they meet an ex-Military person. Forgive the Americanism when I say "Thank You for your service" o7

Is that where you play a game where you insert numbers onto a grid so that the totals match in all directions.....until it bores you to death? -
Help! - Got "Coupon". How do I use it?

Many thanks to everyone who took the trouble to respond. It is good advice and much appreciated. -

Jean Bart – a Tier 9 in the Premium Shop?
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to Hayashio's topic in General Discussion
Presumably you did not pay cash for it? i.e. it was a Kohl Coal ship? (Sorry could not resist a little phonetic play on words) -

Have you hacked in to WG's "Improving the Player Base" plan then?
-
Isn't that "Doubting Thomas"?
-
Exactly. A person inherits their genes from their parents and this determines what sort of nose they have. You don't pick your own nose. (Well, you DO - but not in that way)

Why do you insist on putting this good stuff on facebook instead of YOUR OWN OFFICIAL WEBSITE? Many of us (rightly) do not trust that social media site for reasons which I will not publish here, but which can be found easily on the net. (Search engines are your friend - DYOR)

This is all true and good comment. Also it makes for a (generally) more fun experience that a high tier "chess match". The one thing that I wish could be changed in coop is how torpedo tactics work. At the moment you have a lot of leeway to charge battleships with a destroyer and torpedo them from point-blank range. More so than in PvP. OTOH if you try to torpedo targets properly, from range, battleships seem to have the agility of destroyers in avoiding the torps! (Even if you use the old trick of deselecting the target they still seem to know that torps are on the way)

A very shrewd comment! I think you made a great point about the tier 8 matchmaking being a dis-incentive to buying premium ships at that tier.

Jean Bart – a Tier 9 in the Premium Shop?
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to Hayashio's topic in General Discussion
Yes, i know that Wargaming lied about putting tier 9 Premium ships on sale, just as they lied about never including submarines in the game. But even King Cnut the Great lied. He was King of an Empire including Denmark, Norway and England. He famously lied about being able to stop the tide from coming in. (1) Wargaming are just behaving like a Cnut, that's all. (1) Yes, I know that the legend has been subject to historical revisionism -
I don't suppose we will ever know how many players found themselves in the situation that you describe and: a) Just gritted their teeth and played through it to get to the Promised Land of Tier 7, and b) edit* I started in September 2015 and didn't face these obstacles. If I started now I would not want to face them.

You make a good point, and I personally agree with you 100%. But you must remember that Wargaming is a business and needs to make money. The forum discussed this many times and there are two main strategies. a) Higher prices to make the most from each sale b) Lower prices hoping for more sales, and thus more overall profit. Wargaming have all the data from their sales, and thus far go for option (a). They are not fools (but maybe WE are).
