  1. Good Point! I don't play ranked battles - so I forgot about that. Mind you, they'll soon go back to tier 10, don't worry!
  2. Yes - because you SEEM to be the only one who cannot see that what Wargaming are doing with time-gated marathons is counter-productive. I'm more than prepared to put in the effort and play more in order to get rewards - but those of us WITH A LIFE simply cannot do it at highly specific times. Consequently, we don't bother doing it at all. Result = the OPPOSITE effect to what WG want to achieve. We are actually trying to HELP Wargaming here, if you did but know it.
  3. The general problem with time-gated missions is that you can find yourself in a position where you simply cannot complete the overall task EVEN IF YOU WANT TO! In previous Christmas missions (and the odd summer one) I have found that I could I could not possibly complete all the missions (and with it the overall task) because of real-life commitments such as holidays. The net effect is to make me play LESS - which is surely a case of Wargaming shooting itself in the foot if the purpose of mission design is to encourage the players to play more!
  4. I did not use the first coupon. I only found out that you could use the coupon for Jean Bart after it expired. Then I received a new coupon (the second coupon) via a message in-game, along with a link to the Vanguard offer. So I gave in to temptation and bought the basic Vanguard/Dreadnought package. I'll muck about with them in PvE.
  5. Darth is invariably correct!
  6. Yes, I unexpectedly received a second 30% discount coupon. It was announced to me in game via a pop-up window when I was in port, along with a reminder that the Vanguard/Dreadnought was on sale in the Premium Shop - link provided. As Oscar Wilde said: "I can resist anything except temptation".

Vanguard and Dreadnought are in the shop...

"Dear players! Unfortunately due to technical issues Dreadnought is missing her native permanent camouflage visuals and ship carousel preview. This does not affect gameplay or economy in any way, and will be fixed in the nearest update – 0.7.11. Sorry for the inconvenience. " It's like delivering a new car that has not been painted to its new owner. "Don't worry we will paint it later" Another ship released with an error - just like the Aigle. (Though of course, the Aigle error was more serious) WG make so many careless errors I wonder at the level of testing they do.
  8. Well, I like HMS Lightning a lot. It is one of the few ships where the grind was actually pleasant. But now that I have finished it I probably won't ever play it again, so the camo will be useless to me (sadly).. As I said in another current thread ("Ships you kept"): Grinding the lines takes up almost all my time. After three years I have only grinded 12 lines. This means I have 10 lines still in progress, with at least 6 still to be introduced to the game. .... If I had the time I would play Phoenix, Königsberg, Yorck (buffed recently), Admiral Hipper, Bismarck, Lightning
  9. It might be interesting to create a poll about this. It would be nice to have some data as opposed to our own impressions. Would you like to start one, or shall I?
  10. To sum up: A) Some players like being able to have two flags, and for a variety of reasons B) Other players don't have any strong feeling for flags and cannot see why getting a second flag is such a good deal C) Still other players fall somewhere between these two. My gut feel is that not that many people fall into group A) but that it is still a good idea to cater for minority opinion and to provide the "two flags reward" At the same time they need to cater for others and provide a more "mainstream" reward (for want of a better word), which they do but not very well IMHO. My judgement is that this Royal Navy Destroyers Collection gives very poor rewards compared to the "Congratulatory!" Permanent camouflage offered with the "2 Years of World of Warships" Collection . The rewards for that offered 4 camouflages for completing each of the 4 sections of the collection ( Z-23, New Orleans, Kiev & Charles Martel), plus a camouflage for Monarch for completing all four sections.

What is your most frustrating "Premium" ship?

Since you did not say "all", which is the one that is not frustrating? Campbeltown, Gallant or Cossack?
  12. When I get frustrated I simply stop playing. Well I have to stop, because my keyboard is a wreck after I smash it against the wall. Next day I go to my local PC store to buy another keyboard. I'm such a frequent visitor that the staff invite me to their Christmas Party each year.

    Ships you kept

Yes - Kuma is a nice ship. The way I played it my team mates think I ACTUALLY DID have my eyes closed. I keep almost everything because I tend to be a hoarder. Grinding the lines takes up almost all my time. After three years I have only grinded 12 lines. This means I have 10 lines still in progress, with at least 6 still to be introduced to the game. I play(ed) already grinded ships in Ops: Budyonny, Nürnberg, Pensacola, Lyon, Charles Martel (before MBRB gimmick) If I had the time I would play Phoenix, Königsberg, Yorck (buffed recently), Admiral Hipper, Bismarck, Lightning

    African-american pre-saturday

Sent you a nice, friendly PM.

    Jean Bart and Bourgogne

While you are waiting here is a taster. I am very impressed by the posts of @Reaper_JackGBR I particularly like this one. It's on the public record, so I don't mind stepping in to post this: My reply to this post, later in the same thread, began: "** Wild Applause ** If I ever write a post to the forum even half as good as this one then I will be delighted. (And I am too old and cynical to worry about anyone who thinks my reply is OTT)"

What is your most frustrating "Premium" ship?

If you can get Wargaming to arrange it, then go for it! I could do with some gold.

    African-american pre-saturday

In retaliation for US sanctions on European countries we should retaliate by sanctioning US Cultural Imperialism. Say No to Black Friday!

What is your most frustrating "Premium" ship?

Well done, OP, an interesting subject for discussion! I like the vast majority of my Premium ships. However, there are three which frustrate and sadden me. These are Imperator Nikolai I, Belfast & Gremyashchy. Three ships which are so OP that Wargaming withdrew them from sale! Yet I am mediocre in them. It's so frustrating that I can't even be one of the better players in a battle even when playing these ships.
  19. "Situational Awareness" (For those who need a refresh) Apart from a few rare builds, I feel that "Concealment" is such a strong skill for captains of all ships that it is (almost?) mandatory. Sure, you can make a case for some ships being able to do without it (such as speedster gunboats such as Khabarovsk, or brawlers such as the Bismarck) But these are the tiny minority. Is the "Concealment" skill now so much an automatic choice that Wargaming should consider doing something similar about it like they did with "Situational Awareness"? I think the possibilities for variety in Captain builds would be greater with 19 points rather than the de facto 15 that we now have.
  20. Admiral_H_Nelson

    Submarines! Submarines everywhere!

Then please add this to your "To Do" list @MrConway ! As for priorities, placing it just after "Develop Combat Rubber Ducks" will be fine.
  21. Good for you,Sir! I also have the Cossack. I bought it for sentimental reasons. It was the first Airfix ship I ever made. I have a different temperament to you though. I support fair +2/-2 matchmaking, but it drives me to rage quit when I am bottom tier over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over again.
  22. Admiral_H_Nelson

Is "Concealment" the new "Situational Awareness"?

My God! What horrors have I (unintentionally) unleashed by starting this thread?
  23. If the free stuff has a value - then fine. Maybe it might be something that you can sell if you don't want it. But when am I ever going to play the Lightning again (good ship though it is) after I have grinded past it? Who still wants to play tier 8 ships with the current matchmaking (apart from masochists or good players who want to challenge themselves - and I am neither)?
