Discussion thread for "some interesting info around the world"
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to Deamon93's topic in General Discussion
You've got to remember that Communications are not Wargaming's strong point (Along with balancing) The worked example is very poor IMHO. Don't forget that in the original version they used Ryujo, not Zuiho! How I read it is this. You have Hosho and are grinding Zuiho. You have 5,000 ship XP on Zuiho. Zuiho is removed and the 5000 ship XP gets credited to Hosho PLUS you get 9,300 Free XP as a bonus. The XP used on researched modules on Zuiho is credited to you as Free XP. The cost of any purchased modules is credited to you in full. Oustanding questions: 1) Do you get the cost of buying the Zuiho credited back to you? 2) What happens to any upgrades fitted to Zuiho? Are they dismounted for free and placed in the Inventory? -
PSA: Black Friday 2,500 doubloon mission
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to Miscommunication_dept's topic in General Discussion
As posted in the other thread on Black Friday deals (before I saw this one). The 2500 doubloons offer is horse excrement. If they are offering compensation to people who buy Atago B and already own the regular Atago, then they should just give the owners 2500 doubloons straight up AND NOT MAKE THEM PLAY 10 GAMES. It almost looks like another Wargaming plan to make people play more -

PSA: Aircraft Carrier bots removed from four Operations
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor's topic in General Discussion
Why have Wargaming removed the carriers? There is no actual need yet. Is it a long-term move because they don't think that the rework carriers will fit in operations? Or is it a subtle way of making operations harder, and using the CV rework as an excuse (he said, cynically).? -
Tier 8 MM after the change. Poll included.
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to Blixies's topic in General Discussion
matchmaking has gotten WORSE if anything. Tried 5 Tier 8 ships. Bottom tier in all games. In three of them the majority of ships were tier X. Wargaming. Marks out of 10 for effort = 10 marks out of 10 for effectiveness = 0 -

And YOU have the hypocrisy to accuse ME of personal attacks. I've had many dealings with you on the forum and the overall taste is bad I'm afraid. Can we make a pact, please? I will refrain from commenting on your posts, and in return you will refrain from commenting on mine? Thank You in advance.

Rather too frequently in Wargaming's case. I can also refer you to the case of the Aigle - which was sold with a known bug WHICH WAS NOT COMMUNICATED. But what's the point @ColonelPete? You are notorious for defending Wargaming whatever they do. If they demolished your house "by mistake" you would probably still defend them!

BUT NOT BEFORE RELEASING IT! You are supposed to catch errors before you release then to the public. Don't forget, either, the Vanguard thread to which you have contributed. Also a foul-up. They make rather too many to be considered a quality software outfit. Or maybe it's just that my standards are too high - or yours are too low.
-
Dude - you are way, WAY too trusting about Wargaming's competence. These guys just released a premium ship without noticing that its camo was not being rendered in Port! This is the mindset of a software company that makes changes without checking or announcing them. I've (sadly) worked in such organizations.

Well, technically it is more true to say "would have had", rather than "had". -
T8 Matchmaking the umpteenth - except this time it's good!
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to Tyrendian89's topic in General Discussion
This appears to be a very good move from Wargaming, so I offer a well deserved salute. The only fly in the ointment is the introduction of the "Thunderstorm Front". I hate these bad weather effects. "Battles featuring the Thunderstorm Front will only be available for ships of Tier VIII, IX and X." Note: I fully accept that I am in the minority here. As the Patch Notes say: "In Operation Hermes, we tested the Thunderstorm Front, a new mechanic that affects events happening within a particular region of the map. The mechanics received a warm welcome from players..." -
Who will be able to afford new "Bourgogne" for 30.000 Steel?
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
Great point! I've often wrestled with this question and tried to make sense of it. -
I'm gonna regret this...

Everyone knows that the real Dunkirk operation was carried out by Glorious Soviet Navy, who rescued Capitalists. Leader of Soviet Squadron was famous Russian Admiral Sergei Dunkirkovitch! -

Sunk without being hit! Please help with technical explanation
Admiral_H_Nelson posted a topic in General Discussion
In my last match I dodged a salvo from a Yamato. As the post match report says, none of them hit. Yet the salvo sunk me. I'm not clever enough to understand what went on here. Can any technical whizz explain please? A couple of screenshots to illustrate what I mean. -
How to improve your Personal Rating (PR) - Stop Playing!
Admiral_H_Nelson posted a topic in General Discussion
A few days ago I checked my stats on a well-known website. It shows graphs for several categories - Win Rate, Average Damage, Average Experience and Personal Rating. Since I had not played Random battles from late August to the present day the graphs for the first three categories was flat, but the graph for PR showed an improvement! Graphs Could this be because better players are not playing so much (or leaving) and worse players are playing more (or joining)?- 6 replies

Fuse time on Vanguard [is it bugged?]
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to __Helmut_Kohl__'s topic in General Discussion
Yeah - noticed something similar...and I'm just a potato. So I'm dying to know what this is. Is it a) A Communications F-up. or b) A Developer F-up. -

Doubloon Haul Up For Grabs - Super Sub Challenge - Discussion Thread
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to The_EURL_Guy's topic in News & Announcements
Thanks...but No Thanks. A hearty "Well Done" to all at Wargaming who participated in creating a very good event for Halloween. The designs of the ships was great and in keeping with the Halloween theme. The technical & gameplay challenges were overcome really well to create an experience of submarines, while staying within the overall "Kill Rasputin & the Bad Guys" story. IMHO the best Easter/Halloween novelty event ever, except maybe the Captain's bath Tub. However, I am bored to death with subs by now. I can't see how they can be bought into the main game ( in anything like their current form) without getting stale very quickly. -
Sunk without being hit! Please help with technical explanation
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to Admiral_H_Nelson's topic in General Discussion
Many Thanks for all the replies. A near miss causing damage is actually realistic, (Seems a bit extreme to actually sink the ship with one though) I'll add this to the list of frustrations of the game. I'm now up to 1,988,378,341,904,259,337,340,217. -
WG, for the next events, can we PLEASE return to a situation where not everything is time-gated and drip-fed with ridiculously short intervals?
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to MrFingers's topic in General Discussion
Best point made in the entire thread, IMHO!
