Santa's gifts are here! Please, share your loot.

Well, yes.....but Boise is more useful as a crew trainer of course. -
You get to play only 1 ship in 2019! Which one it is ?
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to imElitez's topic in General Discussion
Whatever is at tier X in the upcoming Soviet Battleship line. Who wouldn't like a ship with 12 x 18" guns and 15 second reload, with 90% Fire Chance. Plus, Stalinium armour (Impervious to all existing game calibres and also 100% fire resistant) Plus 8 x 20 km range 85 knot torpedoes Plus Radar, Sonar, Cruise Missiles and the best AA in the game. 45 knots maximum speed and the turning circle of a British Destroyer [/s] -
Good point! Happy to agree with you on that one.

"#1) If you can do well in Epicenter mode, why are you whining about it?" Because I hate playing the mode. It is unpleasant to me. Though there is a partial correlation there is no iron rule that says that if you do well at something then you actually like it. I was good at Rugby Football at school but I hated the game and wanted to play Soccer (as you North Americans call it) instead. "#2) I don't hate playin on any map." Lucky you. People like different things - or haven't you noticed. "'Ship' happens." Sure it does. And when too much of it happens players just get fed up and leave. I'm simply giving feedback to Wargaming. "Everyone gets the map at random, either spawn. Just play it & move on. Only map whiners complain about maps." Firstly, I am not complaining about a map. I am complaining about a battle mode. Learn the difference! And in any case, on the subject of maps, developers themselves "complain" about maps internally and have changed them frequently. By what logic is anyone who complains about something a "whiner"?

Co-Op Player - Got the Yamato, could get Musashi from Arsenal for Coal or save for Jean Bart - Which to choose?

Thanks for asking this, Ian - I was wondering exactly the same thing. And Thanks to everyone for the excellent replies! -
*Cough* Mutsu *Cough* To get properly in the mood, shouldn't that be "What do y'all think?"

Admiral_H_Nelson replied to Sehales's topic in General Discussion
Well you learn something new every day! I thought that the authentic pronunciation of "Yamato" was more like "Yamma-to", rather than the "Ya-Mah-To". Still, the Americans always know best. [/s] http://www.pronouncekiwi.com/Yamato battleship -
Hmmm...something a bit strange here. I am not a Beta Tester. However, yesterday I received a notification in port that I had been given the Beta-patch. You got a Beta-patch which is fair enough since you are a Beta Tester.

french ships, with premature guns.
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to Butterdoll's topic in General Discussion
True. Some ships or features are good in PvP but not in PvE (and the reverse situation can apply in certain circumstances). I guess that higher tier French cruisers fall into the "not good in PvE" category. I don't like it but Wargaming don't care much about PvE and they will be pleased by the fact that most PvP "mains" seem to like the MBRB feature. There are plenty of other nice ships to play - and hopefully the French DD line won't have this feature when it comes out. -

I have a 12-14 day break right in the middle of the Christmas/New year period where I will be unavailable to play the game. This happens every year. I think you can see my problem. (And since I am a big fan of my German Fleet i particularly want the PEF ) -

GOOD Warships Premium Account Excellent move for those of us who only play WoWS. Snowflakes! A good event which will benefit collectors. The "Steel Monsters" Campaign Looks like another nice event. QUESTION: What game modes are included for these missions? Is it just Random battles? In the Name of His Highness! This is obviously the favoured format for events at the moment. It's good except for the "Hall of Fame" which has a disruptive effect on PvE battles to be honest. Ranked Sprint Well done! Will be a very welcome event for those players who like that sort of thing (not me). A BIT WORRYING The "Mighty Prinz" Campaign "By a good New Year's tradition, we'll continue partying by rolling out a new temporary campaign that will be available for owners of battleship Prinz Eitel Friedrich." Depending upon the time (and based on the experience of previous years) you might be acting as a boost to the pitchfork and flaming torch industries here. The "Belle Époque" Collection "The reward for completing the collection includes a commemorative flag, Secret Santa container and Pickelhelm patch." Please tell my that this is the reward on the PT server, and that once it goes live this collection will get a "real" reward. -
You bet your life it is! This Royal Navy is the first collection where I have zero interest or enthusiasm for completing it. It's such a shame, because the RN Destroyers themselves have been a success IMHO, and Wargaming deserve credit for the job that they did with them.

First off - I respect that your opinions on what constitutes "fun" to YOU are 100% valid. My opinions on "fun" are equally valid to me. "The Conditions are actually fun to play in..." Not to me. I dislike two main things in any game: Hectic gameplay and a high degree of confusion (beyond the usual "Fog of War"). "You can totally avoid it by sailing arround it.." And maybe miss most of the battle, unless the other team hates thunderstorms just as much. "....greatly adds atmosphere." Not to me. It just adds confusion. It feels like yet another shift towards the "arcade feel" of the game. "Since it is not part of every battle i can not see how it is ruining everything". Correct. It only ruins the battle in which it occurs. If this is infrequent then it is tolerable, in the same way as EPICENTER. If it becomes more frequent then it is time to look for another game. The major problem that I have with weather is that as a (squishy) cruiser main I feel that it shifts the balance even more to other classes.

Ticking clocks and my hard time recommending this game
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to KruppStahl14's topic in General Discussion
Great point! I have missed every big Christmas Mission (so far) because Wargaming insist on time-gating the requirements. So I learned that Wargaming's Christmas message is basically "Merry Christmas - but only if you fit your life around us"- 53 replies

Black Friday Missions, 50k BASE XP
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to ApesTogetherStronK's topic in General Discussion
I find it deeply disappointing (to say the least) that Wargaming are not obliged to publish the drop rates for the contents of paid-for containers. Only Belgium and the Netherlands have consumer protection laws relating to this (so I understand). This is something that the EU and/or national governments should fix by passing new laws, or applying any existing ones which are relevant. -

Naval Underdogs: Poland - Discussion Thread
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to The_EURL_Guy's topic in News & Announcements
Bravo Poland! I find this story very moving for some reason (extracts from Wikipedia) ORP Piorun was an N-class destroyer operated by the Polish Navy in World War II. The word piorun is Polish for "Thunderbolt". Ordered by the Royal Navy in 1939, the ship was laid down as HMS Nerissa before being acquired by Poland, before completion, in October 1940. ... Piorun was based in Great Britain and commanded by Commander Eugeniusz Pławski. ... Piorun took part, along with the British destroyers, in the search for Bismarck (she was the first of the destroyers to spot the German ship). She joined in the shadowing of and torpedo attacks on the German battleship the night before Bismarck was sunk. ... According to one report (detailed at the Auschwitz I exhibition, Oświęcim, Poland), Pławski transmitted the message "I am a Pole" before commencing fire on Bismarck; other sources say the signal to commence fire was "Trzy salwy na cześć Polski" ("Three salvoes in honor of Poland"). -
As if we don't have enough Battleships filling that role already!

This how to get the 2500 Doubloon missions if you have a Black and Non-Black version of a ship.
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to IanH755's topic in General Discussion
Thank you for putting it in "Black and White" -
I encountered a Thunderstorm in consecutive PvE battles. According to the patch notes these should only occur in Random Battles (https://worldofwarships.eu/en/news/game-updates/update-0711-rule-britannia/) " The mechanics received a warm welcome from players, so we decided to test it further in Random Battles. " -------------------------------------------------- For the record, I personally was not impressed by the Thunderstorms, any more than cyclones. As a cruiser main, I feel that cruisers lose more than they gain by such weather, whereas other classes are net gainers.

Discussion thread for "some interesting info around the world"
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to Deamon93's topic in General Discussion
That is part of my "Outstanding Questions" #1 i.e. Do you get the cost of XP & Silver refunded -
This is the first collection that I am NOT monitoring progress. Don't know how many of the free containers I have received. They have a nice camo and a flag - which is nice. The rewards for this collection are (sadly) not relevant to me. a) I respect that some people value being able to fly two flags - but I don't personally. b) The camo for HMS Lightning is good - but I already grinded past that ship c) The camo for HMCS Haida appeals to fans/owners of that ship. It's a fine ship, but I don't have it or plan to get it. But for everyone who is aiming to complete the collection - GOOD LUCK!

PSA: Black Friday 2,500 doubloon mission
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to Miscommunication_dept's topic in General Discussion
Yes - 10 games isn't much . . . . but let me put it this way. If you got a 100 Euro refund from a store then what would you rather have - the 100 Euros all at once or 10 Euros the next 10 times that you bought something in the store.
