[0.8.0] First CV rework tweaks and changes
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to Sub_Octavian's topic in Development Blog
Congratulations on reacting quickly to the gameplay data so far, and introducing the first set of balancing tweaks. However, could you please, please, PLEASE put this item at the bottom of the priority list: " Finish the development for CV bots (Cooperative Battles); " (or at least remove the cheat whereby the bot carriers know where you are in a destroyer and send their scouts in a bee line directly at you!) -
What do you like about patch 0.8.0?

Greetings Forumites! I received a message in game that I had been awarded a coupon. This is how it appears in the shop: The thing is, it does not tell me which "selected World of Warships packages" are applicable to the coupon. Does anyone know how you are supposed to use the thing, please? Thanks in advance.

CV Rework - the other Elephant in the Room
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to Gvozdika's topic in General Discussion
The Producers is a 1967 American satirical comedy film written and directed by Mel Brooks and starring Zero Mostel, Gene Wilder, [edited] Shawn, and Kenneth Mars. The film was Brooks's directorial debut, and he won an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay. (Wikipedia) The main theme of the plot is that the producers of a Broadway musical realise that they can actually make HUGE money by sabotaging their own production - so the comedy revolves around their attempts to make it fail. Don’t buy PEF - she sucks hard
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to 1MajorKoenig's topic in General Discussion
@wilkatis_LV Thank You! Good reply! I've been trying these items, and agree with you 100%: - Usually keep your speed up - Keep wiggling a lot, similarly to how you would do in ships like Nagato - Angle against AP, you are absolutely able to tank it. Don't go bow in to it, this isn't t8+ - Dropping speed + turning makes you lose speed insanely fast. Use this to dodge effectively I've not tried a captain with concealment skills yet (used a 19 pt brawler), but will do so. Thank you. - Never underestimate concealment builds regardless of what else you are going for These don't work for me: - Don't bother shooting BBs waterline (main belt) past 13km I only ever recall getting one citadel (on a Vanguard) at 5/6 km. Forget it unless you are point-blank range. I find I'm better off trying to hit the upper hull and superstructure. Even then the rewards are low. - Cruisers can be citadelled at any range I make cruisers and DDs my main targets and get patch results. Yes, a few citadels but the dispersion has been so bad that I think that wargaming are taking the pish with me. The problem for me is that PEF seems so weak offensively. It seemingly fires marshmallows and has awful dispersion - never mind what the stats say about these items. (Sometime "real life" seems better than stats - *cough* Imperator Nikolai shell grouping *cough*) Defensively, it is a competent ship with good AA and better speed than most at the tier. I truly believe that the skill ceiling for this ship is very high, and to do well you need a long battle where you can use the weaker punch of its guns to do damage over time. It's a "Death of a Thousand Cuts" ship. Random battles only, maybe - not Ranked, Operations or PvE. -

I'm rubbish in all tier 6 battleships - but why am I so much more rubbish in Prinz Eitel Friedrich? I am not imagining it. I just need to look at my stats for evidence. Taking Average damage for example. My best damage dealer is the Japanese Battleship Fuso. Give it a value of 100. My next best ships get a value of 92 (i.e 92 HP of damage for every 100 dealt in Fuso). These are Mutsu and Queen Elizabeth. (The list goes on through Bayern, Dunkerque, Warspite, Arizona, Normandie, New Mexico.) In last place at an index of 55 is Prinz Eitel Friedrich. That's only just over half of the figure for my best ship. I don't get this variation on any other tier/ship type. For an average player it's crap. @wilkatis_LV you are a very good player and have recounted that you yourself have not been suffering in the Prinz Eitel Friedrich. How about using your considerable brain power in trying to help us (those of us struggling) to help why we find this ship so very difficult? (Without the juvenile cliches such as "LTP" or "git gud", please) -

Then Tier 4 ships will need rebalancing also. ..and then tier 3 ..and tier 2 ..and tier 1 Or OTOH Wargaming could fix this putrid matchmaker of theirs that seems designed to cause frustration for the average joe, and give the better players the opportunity to wave their willies saying "Oh! it's no problem for ME!" [Smug grin] and trot out glib slogans that sound more like they come out of the mouths of adolescents than grown ups ("LTP", "git gud" ) And yes - I'm burnt out if you hadn't noticed. Merry Christmas! -

Admiral_H_Nelson replied to Deamon93's topic in General Discussion
If Wargaming are going to leave Tier 5 matchmaking as it is, then they should: a) Introduce HMS Exeter with the stats as leaked b) buff ALL THE OTHER tier 5 cruisers to make them closer to HMS Exeter And once they have done that they can do a similar exercise with tier 5 battleships. -
How is your "Dreadnought Marathon" coming along - will you be able to get her in time?
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
Finished the marathon yesterday. I already had Dreadnought because I bought it in a package with Vanguard. I got a port slot, 3 point commander and 3500 gold (in lieu of Dreadnought) Very happy with that. A nice reward for just playing. Some of the other Christmas missions will be a problem though. The time-gating isn't so severe as previous years, but real life will still take a big chunk out of available time. -

WTF Wargaming? -
This is the most important warning of all IMHO. Skilled carrier players have reported back to the forum and pointed out that this does not solve the current issues with CVs. In my view the only people who can rework CV play to the benefit of the game in general are these same skilled carrier players "Experto crede" as the Roman motto has it - Trust the Expert.

What is your estimate for earning of "Steel" & "Coal" in upcoming "Snowflakes" event?
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
Very true! But an awful lot of coal for ships that I will only play once! (Both ships are fatally blighted for my taste - though JB does have the advantage that it is a French ship)- 42 replies

No USS Alaska in update 0.7.12?
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to koliber_1984's topic in General Discussion
I trust you judgement on this T0by (as in many other things) I actually have Musashi, and I am sure the JB is strong but the thing is...... I hate the playstyle (All front turrets, god-awful dispersion and MBRB). I'm just hoping that some ship comes into the Arsenal that is attractive enough to spend my current coal mountain (never mind the additions from the Snowflakes event) -
What is your estimate for earning of "Steel" & "Coal" in upcoming "Snowflakes" event?
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
I know of at least two previous schedules for awarding steel to premium ships, and the estimate were revised DOWN in each case.As the announcements came in I've been keeping track of the figures on a spreadsheet. Plan #1 would give me 6900 steel. Plan #2 would give me 5850 steel. In the live plan in 0.7.12 I can get 4350 steel. ("Snap! @Aragathor) As for Coal, I can get 67,500 to add to the 330,000 I currently have. Nothing desirable to spend it on in the Arsenal. (Ships that I'll never play. Got camos, captains, upgrades etc)- 42 replies

You make a very good point! May i just sugest a slight modification though, please? ".... somebody downright refusing to play Ranked and Clan battles ..." should just read ".... somebody downright refusing to play Ranked battles ..." Don't forget that some players just are not good enough to make the Clan's CB team. -

Admiral_H_Nelson replied to Hedgehog1963's topic in General Discussion
Yes - it is something for nothing (well, playing a few quick coop games, and ruining it for the regulars) Thank You Wargaming, and Merry Christmas! Where they could have improved things in the Snowflakes event is not raising expectations in the first place. I know of at least two previous schedules for awarding steel to premium ships, and the estimate were revised DOWN in each case.WG should have started LOW then raised the amounts if necessary. As the announcements came in I've been keeping track of the figures on a spreadsheet. Plan #1 would give me 6900 steel. Plan #2 would give me 5850 steel. In the live plan in 0.7.12 I can get 4350 steel. -

QUOTE The range closed rapidly from 20,000 yards to 12,000 yards with some damage being inflicted on the graf spee although in reply Exeter lost four of her six guns and most of her bridge personnel. “We might just as well have been bombarding her with bloody snowballs” Harwood remarked later. Both sides used smoke to conceal their manoeuvres. Exeter eventually retired from the battle, burning fiercely and listing. END-QUOTE https://hmsexeter.co.uk/resources/ACM219 - Tidings of Comfort %26 Joy.pdf The real question is: "Why does the Admiral Graf Spee" not have smoke? (I know that this will be one of the "things" of the the Soviet battleships (along with the 20 km torpedoes, and Stalinium armour) but they could make an exception for such a fine ship as the Graf Spee.) -

Admiral_H_Nelson replied to Deamon93's topic in General Discussion
Possibly due to her famous action in the Battle of the River Plate. The gunnery of Graf Spee was good and caused heavy damage on the Exeter, which nevertheless managed to repair sufficiently to re-enter the battle with one turret and.... "... Exeter dealt the decisive blow; one of her 8" (203mm) shells had penetrated two decks before exploding in Graf Spee′s funnel area, destroying her raw fuel processing system and leaving her with just 16 hours fuel, insufficient to allow her to return home. " Even so, Graf Spee hit Exeter hard again and forced her out of the battle. -
What are you the most unsatisfied with?
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to Humorpalanta's topic in General Discussion
Enforced brawling via weather, epicenter, arms race, halloween mickey-mouse modes etc. Yes I get it that sniping from long distance is a bad thing, but as a cruiser main I don't find forced brawling the least bit enjoyable. P.S. and using credit-eating gimmicks to balance ships (such as MBRB on French ships) instead of the main ship factors such as rate of fire, turret traverse. -

I hope that "Carpet bombing" is not "level bombing". To my knowledge, few ships if any (at least Destroyer-sized and upwards) have ever been sunk while underway by level bombing. But then realism and Wargaming have a distant relationship, even allowing for the fact that WoWS is an arcade game. -

Prinz Eitel Friedrich: Winter Event, Campaign and Rewards! - Discussion Thread
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to The_EURL_Guy's topic in News & Announcements
As I read it from here:https://worldofwarships.eu/en/news/game-updates/prinz-eitel-friedrich/ "The rules of this event will be similar to the rules of the "Royal Navy" Campaign, but this time it will contain one Stage and four Directives, each offering 10 to 11 combat missions. All available combat missions can be undertaken simultaneously. The next Directive will become available upon the completion of six combat missions, but not before its scheduled start date." "The final Directive is comprised of 11 combat missions, each to be completed with ships of a specified nationality only." You have to complete six combat missions, but that means you'll need to use ships from six different nationalities. ( I chose Germany-North, Germany-West, Germany-East, Germany-South, Royal Navy & France)
