PSA: Wichita in shop today, but nerfed version
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to __Helmut_Kohl__'s topic in General Discussion
In another thread, Mr Conway did suggest that a doubloon refund would be the way to deal with dissatisfied customers. However they were aware that doubloons are not so valuable/useful as they once were, so WG are looking at increasing the ways that doubloons can be spent. This would be done BEFORE any changes are implemented on Giulio Cesare. Of course by that time, doubloons will possibly be superceded by yet another new in-game currency, the flying pig. -
USS Wichita on sale in the SEA server, My wallet stays closed though
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to ___V_E_N_O_M___'s topic in General Discussion
Very, very true! But it is a comment that Wargaming should also think very seriously about. Judging by recent behaviour, they seem determined to put as many people off the game as possible. Especially paying customers - and they DO need these. -
Naval Battle: Clans Competition
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to The_EURL_Guy's topic in News & Announcements
I could comment on the whole post (which was very good) but I will restrict myself to just this point. I do not blame Wargaming for trying to get people to play more - there are many arguments in favour of it. However it is a "double edged sword". Like many players I felt very burnt out by all the event grinds in the last six months of 2018. (Yes, I know you don't have to do them - but it is easy to get caught up in them) Then in January I went on holiday and did some thinking. I was seriously thinking of quitting. I realised that when I play too much I get tired and make mistakes and get frustrated. (As in "Smash the keyboard against the wall" frustrated) Since I resumed playing after my holiday I made it a rule to stop when I feel tired. So I play a lot less..... BUT I ENJOY IT. I've not needed to buy a new keyboard in 2019 yet! -
[QUIZ] Meet the Ship of your Dreams
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to The_EURL_Guy's topic in News & Announcements
I am stunned. The "Quiz" predicted that my favourite ship would be HMS Cossack. You know what? At the moment it most probably IS! What sorcery is this? -

Brilliant! That's put my mind at rest. Before the GC gets changed I'll be long dead! -

Admiral_H_Nelson replied to Procrastes's topic in General Discussion
Actually, as far as RN ships go it would HAVE to be a premium ship ........ or a DD (love the RN DDs ) I have nothing but contempt for the [Extremely capable] circus freaks that form the regular RN Cruiser and Battleship lines - and have said so repeatedly. My pride-and-joy is my German fleet! -

Admiral_H_Nelson replied to Procrastes's topic in General Discussion
That's OK - move GC to tier 6 but just give me a balanced Tier 5 Premium battleship as a replacement. (Unmodernised HMS Barham maybe?) Or give me coal so that I can buy something useful from the Arsenal. You admit that doubloons are not attractive right now and promise that something will be done soon™. But with everything else going on at WG at the moment that's like waiting for Godot. I did. Preaching to the converted. As I have said several times: I am cool with the idea that "Something needs to be done with the GC". It's just that the twin ideas of moving it to tier 6 or offering doubloons as compensation stink like a week old fish. -
Discussion thread for "some interesting info around the world"
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to Deamon93's topic in General Discussion
I'm sure that all those players burning premium time so that they can act as testers for a CV rework that they never asked for are gratified to hear that. [/sarcasm] (And, no, I am not shooting the messenger. In fact, a big "Thank you " for sharing this information! ) -

+1 Nerf the GC at Tier 5 as much as you like in order to get it into balance. I'm cool with that. But I don't want another sodding tier 6 ship! -

Admiral_H_Nelson replied to Procrastes's topic in General Discussion
"Across the bord(Sic) she is number 1 on the BB leader board..." And whose fault is that? Before release Wargaming were told repeatedly by CCs that the ship was OP. They arrogantly ignored it. IMHO they used the publicity to generate sales. Wargaming created this mess. They created ALL the messes in the game. Maybe they should let the players drive the changes (specifically the best players - not me). In most cases, T0by, you often step in to the forum to defend Wargaming when they are being over-harshly criticisised. However in this case WG deserve a good kcking....Oh YES! I'm relaxed about the GC being rebalanced at tier 5......but uptiering is a no-no! (Not without cash refunds) -
Giulio Cesare to be changed to T6.
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to BanzaiPiluso's topic in General Discussion
1. I'm very relaxed about nerfing Premiums if it helps the balance of the game 2. I don't expect to get my money back (but large amounts of coal would be preferable to doubloons. At least with coal I can get flags. camos, or ships of my choice) 3. I don't even mind the principle of ships changing tiers as part of the rebalancing. The thing that gets me riled however is the idea that CG could move to tier 6. I absolutely loathe tier 6. The majority of the ships that I find the most dissapointing or "unfun" are there and MM is crap. (Sadly, most of the Operations are tier 6 also.) -
PSA: Free captain respec/demount ends tonight.
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to Verblonde's topic in General Discussion
I reset all 138 Captains. Then moved them about between ships to put my most skilled Captains on my favourite ships. (This did not take long) I now have 28 captains trained, and 111 with no assigned skills. Even that 28 is about 18 too many. -

Admiral_H_Nelson replied to Verblonde's topic in General Discussion
Excellent point! Wargaming have announced: "We agree with you and hereby announce that there will be another 1-week period of free reset in approximately 2 months, around the release of Update 0.8.2." (https://worldofwarships.eu/en/news/game-guides/re-spec-my-authoritah/) In the meantime, many captains will be left with builds which were once the best ones, but which are now "sub-optimal" (to use the moder terminology) Maybe we should just stop playing until we get the respec? -

When the the Russian BBs come...

It doesn't make any difference to Wargaming. You could describe juggling as "Generating a balls-up situation" Wargaming are masters at generating a "balls-up" -
A solution to all issues - Double Random games
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to loppantorkel's topic in General Discussion
Thank you for your excellent reply. Your arguments make a lot of sense IMHO. In fact, your example also reminds me that a three-player unicum division in general has an unbalancing effect. However, Wargaming will never do anything about it of course. -
A solution to all issues - Double Random games
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to loppantorkel's topic in General Discussion
So in other words, .... It's OK to buff your ship as a DD hunter It's OK to buff your ship as a cruiser killer It's OK to buff your ship as a tormentor of battleships with HE spam But it's not OK to buff your ship as a plane killer (in your opinion)? We may have to agree to differ but that seems grossly unfair to me. -

0.8.0 AFT Vs Manual AA (Minotaur)
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to Captain_KriegWurst's topic in General Discussion
Many thanks for that info - it is very useful for my planning! I've been partly unavailable due to holidays recently, and the WIKI is not fully up to date. Anyone know the location of an offical tutorial on how AA works now? - with all the relevant stats included? Or do Wargaming expect to just throw the changes on us and we have to work it out for ourselves? (I had to use google to even find out how to change AA sector) -
0.8.0 AFT Vs Manual AA (Minotaur)
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to Captain_KriegWurst's topic in General Discussion
I'm rather confused about this myself. Flamu posted a video today showing a battle in his Montana. As usual he shows his recommended build at the end. He seems to value Manual AA over AFT at the moment. I haven't seen a numbers showing the effectiveness of each. IMHO the advantages of Manual AA are - No longer any restrictions on calibre of guns affected - 20% more damage of all guns - 20% faster time to switch sectors Advantages of AFT are - Extended range (20%) helps you to support team mates with your AA - Also applies to main battery (good for secondary build BBs, and the Atlanta) I'm still undecided what to go for on a ship-by-ship basis, though -
Cv rework poll - keeping dementia at bay
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to loppantorkel's topic in General Discussion
I don't like the changes and, yes, I am very much part of the older section of the player base. I am aware that many older people tend to be resistant to change, but I am actually very keen on changes in all aspects of life (so long as these changes are "progress" in some form) My main objection to the changes is that carrier play has been transformed from a strategic RTS style to an arcade fly-a-plane style. I've tried several aeroplane games over the years ranging from flight simulators to the moronic blam-blam-blam attack style of the CV rework. I have disliked all of them. I would have tried to work through a CV line or two in the old RTS style, but I won't touch CVs in the reworked format. It saddens me that one of the 4 "ship" types is now closed to me. -

Admiral_H_Nelson replied to Deamon93's topic in General Discussion
Perfect sense! But they were warned over and over again about GC BEFORE it was releases - and in their OVERBEARING ARROGANCE they ignored the warnings. If they get a sh*tstorm then they deserve it.
