Rogue Wave Free XP to starting nation ship.
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to LordScarkathorp's topic in General Discussion
Only in your imagination, Colonel. Side note: In case you think this is me just having a go at you, please check the number of your recent posts in various threads that I have "liked" recently. I don't give a "like" unless I mean it! -

So what? We are discussing Rogue Wave XP being allocated to a tier 1 ship. -
Matchmaker Discussion Thread & MM Balance
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to Excavatus's topic in General Discussion
I can't speak for other people, but in my case it is an addiction, fuelled by a stupid hope that I will get better at the game (which never materializes). I don't understand the motivation of many players on here. (repeat "don't understand" - not "condemn out of hand"). It seems as if the last thing they want is a competitive battle between evenly match teams. "It all evens out in the long run", they say. Well in the long-run we are all dead! I think that maybe their stats are more important to some people because they are categorical proof of their superior ability (which I salute ) which is a positive payoff for them. This is where amateur sports have the advantage over stuff such as WoWS. You don't take up a sport in order to be immediately thrown into contests where you are outmatched, and sports clubs are not set up to make you do so. Golf even has a long-time handicap system so that you can have a competitive game with a much superior player. As for the MM system, a couple of years back someone who was highly skilled in stats explained in a forum thread why you get up-tiered so much in tiers 5,6,8,9 (and why protected matchmaking had increased this tendency). To test this for myself, I collected data from 947 Random battles into an Excel spreadsheet. I was bottom tier 3 times for every time that I was top tier. That's what hacks me off about the MM, basically. I don't mind +2/-2 provided that I am equally top dog, and underdog. But I'm nowhere near enough to fight against the odds so much. It saps the will to play. But then the addiction kicks in, and i play through gritted teeth. -
Rogue Wave Free XP to starting nation ship.
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to LordScarkathorp's topic in General Discussion
Of course having all this Rogue Wave XP credited to a tier 1 ship is useless unless you want spend money to convert it to Free XP Some Reward! It's like winning "One Free Left Shoe". Rather than do this, how about WG doing something like: "At the end of the event, all Rogue Wave XP will be converted to Free XP at the Rate of 10-to-1" -
Summer sale has begun - but this time it has offer I have never seen before!

I'm getting a bit fed up with these Random boxes, TBH. There are too many ships in the list of possible drop that I simply am not interested in.(Even though they may be good ships, I grant you) Wargaming, if you ever want me to open my wallet again, how about getting more creative and more customer focussed. e.g. Present a list with the option to SELECT any two ships for "x" Euros. or "Buy ship "Z" and SELECT one from a list for half price" -

Why is "Manual Fire Control for Secondary Armament" like it is?
Admiral_H_Nelson posted a topic in General Discussion
This is where I attempt to use the collective brainpower of the forum to educate myself. Wiki describes the Level 4 "Manual Fire Control for Secondary Armament" skill as: Tightens dispersion of shells from secondary batteries. -15% for Tier I-VI ships. -60% for Tier VII-X ships. Manually selected target only. Can anyone tell me the reasoning behind the restrictions of this skill. please? I vaguely remember some explanation behind restricting the benefit so that it was dependent upon ship tiers - but no details. Some other skills have restrictions (e.g BFT, AFT) but those are based on gun size. And of course the Survivability Expert skill varies by tier but on a progressive scale. -
Naval Legends: Destroyer Maillé-Brézé
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to The_EURL_Guy's topic in News & Announcements
Very true, but bear in mind that it was reported on the forum that next Christmas there will be only coal awarded for the snowflakes event - no more steel. IIRC it was Sub_Octavian who said this in a Q&A session or suchlike. (Can't find the actual reference now, and my search skills are only "raw amateur" level) -

French Destroyers: The History
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to The_EURL_Guy's topic in News & Announcements
This is how bad things have gotten between me and the game. 1) Love the French BBs 2) Love the French Cruisers 3) Even came to like the Aigle after a terrible start with it. 4) I'm probably biased anyway as a Francophile. I have no interest in this unusual line of French DDs. -
Voodoo Magic attempt to complete Azur Lane Collection
Admiral_H_Nelson posted a topic in General Discussion
I have gone to the trouble of creating this post in the hope that by doing so the problem will go away. i.e. Sod's law will apply I wish to complete the Azur Lane collection. I have 29 out of the 36 necessary tokens. In fact I have had this number for weeks now! Since my last unique token I have had 32 duplicates (and many of the containers that I have received have not contained a token at all of course, which is WAD) The odds of a sequence like this is 1 in 1,011 so I am feeling pretty unlucky. It is beginning to feel like the days of my youth when I collected bubble-gum cards. There were always one or two which were very rare and hard to get. Of course that made you hand over more of your pocket money! Ordinarily I would just swap some duplicates and complete the collection - but this has become mildly annoying and I want to see if I can get closer to completion before doing that. Anybody else had large sequences of duplicates for this collection? -
Naval Training Center - Ideas & suggestions
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to Crysantos's topic in General Discussion
Have generic missions for each ship type/ tier, e.g. tier 6 cruisers must complete 6 of 8 missions. needs a bit of thought because US cruisers don't have torps at that tier, and RN cruisers can't start fires easily. Mission can be grinded "x" times. First time gets a 14 point captain withe the players name Second time turns the ship into a premium but without the premium rewards Third time give you the ability to retain the port that you selected when a new patch hits AND NOT HAVE IT TURNED INTO SOMETHING WEIRD! -
Voodoo Magic attempt to complete Azur Lane Collection
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to Admiral_H_Nelson's topic in General Discussion
PERSONAL UPDATE I carried on until I finally got a new unique token, which was my 30th. By that time I had received a straight run of 35 duplicates. The odds of such a run is 1935 to 1 (to the nearest integer). I then cashed in duplicates to complete the collection. This was a good collection with a nice reward. Well done Wargaming! P.S. The new (Russian) collection is bo11ox as far as I am concerned, however I fully respect that some people will like them....... chacun à son goût -

I came to the game because I have a lifelong interest in Naval History, and I saw a vieo of the game in Beta Test which looked really cool. I stayed because I eventually began to improve and become more effective after a bit of a slow start. I will leave because:- a) My improvement has levelled out, but nowhere near to a good enough level for me to compete at the higher tiers. (6 and upwards) b) I don't like the way that the game is going in terms of monetization and fantasy content. c) I have all the ships that I want and it is getting rather stale with no new operations being produced.

About the earnable USS Texas from that mission...
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to MoveZig's topic in General Discussion
@LemonadeWarrior66%Win rate gifted player looking down on someone with much lesser abilities. What a surprise! Some gifted people wear their talent with humility and grace, others with arrogance. Guess which is the most appealing human quality? -
About the earnable USS Texas from that mission...
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to MoveZig's topic in General Discussion
Ditto, but in any case I have the ship already, and I don't like the compensation being credits. You used to get gold when you already had a ship. So Wargaming is "Generous with it's rewards"(1) , is it? (1) As claimed in the NTC presentation LOL -
July Combat Missions: Ride the Rogue Wave!
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to The_EURL_Guy's topic in News & Announcements
"Road to Independence" mission to get USS Texas. ( a ship I already have). Two points: #1 Compensation "If you already have V Texas and the permanent Stars' n Stripes camo in your Port, you'll receive compensation in credits." You reduce the rewards again and again. Credits! pah! Compensation should be in Gold, like it used to be when you already had a ship. #2) Battle mode "Battle type restrictions: Random and Savage Battles" Message to PVE players is "Go away and take your money elsewhere. We don't want you" -

You have the absolute right to your opinion, of course. (Believe me, I know what it is like to be in a small minority) However, given the strength of feeling of the opposite opinion shown in the forum ... ...I have to say that you may enter battle and find that you are just playing with yourself. -
Unread news (1) will not clear in port ui
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to BjornMoxica's topic in Archive
Same thing happens to me. Same thing happens with the token next to "Unread news" I got a token in a container and a red (1) appears on the token Go to the screen to change tokens, change to new token and back again. This used to clear the notification NOW IT DOES NOT As you say, not a big bug - but annoying to my OCD. -
What is your most played ship?
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to That_Other_Nid's topic in General Discussion
PvP - Phoenix (If Wargaming allowed tier 4 ships in missions then no grind would be too much) PvE - Atlanta Two American cruisers - which is odd because I don't enjoy the other US cruisers from tier 6 upwards, though I recognize them to be good ships. -

Are you grinding (or will grind) USS Tier IX DD "Benham" for 800 "Fuel Tokens"?
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
No, not going to be grinding to get 800 fuel tokens. Not going to be grinding to get ANY. Mr Fingers excellent post explains why. Two points of my own to add. 1) The competitions & events are supposed to encourage players to play MORE. The current one is so grindy that it encourages me to play LESS. I'm sure that I am not the only one thinking this. 2) Wargaming are up to something with Rogue battles IMHO. They are testing something which is very important to them and they are pushing people into Rogue battles by dangling a decent prize in from of them (compared to PEF & Exeter in previous events), and making the directives "Rogue Battle Heavy" - never seen directives so dominated by the current event before. What is it though? New torps? "Ring of Fire" mechanics to enforce late battle brawling? Objective based supply of consumables? See how far they can pi$$ offf the playerbase?
