Admiral_H_Nelson replied to Takru's topic in General Discussion
Brilliant! - but if I may suggest an slight change : Space Race 1957-1975 (only CCCP for now, USA in a year or 3) .. and complete with a "Moon Landing was faked" module.- 19 replies

Thanks to Nechrom for this information in post #16 in thread: http://forum.worldofwarships.eu/index.php?/topic/44521-destroyers-are-having-range-of-mid-tier-crusiers-now/ Myoko is getting a range nerf and Mogami is getting a range buff in 0.5.4. Not by much, but it fixes the comparative imbalance between the two. -0.5 and +0.5 km respectively, landing the Mogami with a 0.1 km range advantage over the Myoko. So, if you are grinding through Myoko then take advantage of the extra range while you still have it. And once you have finished the grind the reward will be Mogami! . . . . Ah!.....Yes....I see the problem.

Good explanation! Think of the joys awaiting those new players, as they finally step into the big wide world at Tier 4 - and immediately get thrown into a tier 6 game with their stock Karlsruhe, playing against fully-upgraded Fuso, Cleveland, Aoba, Anshan etc (also with highly trained captains).

Destroyers are having range of mid tier crusiers now?
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to MATREKUS's topic in Destroyers
Thank you for that information! I would have been happier if Wargaming had just LEFT MYOKO ALONE - and then increased the range of the Mogami's guns (and by more than a derisory 0.1km) It almost seems as if Wargaming are having a huge laugh at cruiser players. So after 0.5.4 the ranges of cruiser guns at tiers 7 & 8 will be. Tier 717.3 Yorck16.8 Shchors (or whatever the wretched thing is called)15.7 Pensacola15.6 Myoko15.3 Tone (if we ever get it)11.1 Atlanta Tier 819.1 Mikhail Kutuzov17.7 Admiral Hipper17.3 Chapaev (with 152 mm guns ...yeah, right)16.2 New Orleans15.8 Atago15.6 Mogami -
Some premium ships need some updrades
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to BlueManCa's topic in General Discussion
I disagree. Jethro_Grey is CORRECT. Mikhail Kutuzov should stay as it is. The problem isn't that Mikhail Kutuzov is OP. The problem is that the other tier 8 cruisers are UP, and need to be made more competitive (especially the poor New Orleans). Only a masochist or someone who relished really difficult challenges wants to play higher tier cruisers.- 23 replies

It is still needed. All guns get some benefit from Expert Marksman. - Guns up to 139mm get faster turret rotation of 2.5 degrees/second - Guns larger than this get faster turret rotation of 0.7 degrees/second. This doesn't sound like much, but the guns need every bit can get on cruisers, where you out-turn your own guns frequently, and you need fast turrets to DO YOUR JOB OF KILLING DDs. So far, I've found that ships such as Phoenix are not so affected by the expert marksman nerf because they have a lot of single guns dotted around the ship in casemates. Kuma, Königsberg, Cleveland, Aoba, Myoko are examples of ships with (mainly) centre-line turrets that need fast turret rotation - so I stick with Expert Marksman. Hope this helps.

0.5.3 0.5.3 New Map: Tears of the Desert Feedback
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to Ph3lan's topic in Archive
It may just be the joy of playing on a new map - but I like this map. Visibility is good (as in nice and bright), unlike some maps. I hope that this will be available for mid-tier games and not just high-tier ones. -
Pre Release ships [Sims, Gremea- ... I can't spell that, Yuubari]
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to DD_Amatsukaze's topic in General Discussion
Oh - a few more buffs than that! Reposted from up-thread: Quote from the Russian dd's thread "The Gnevny is similar but at the same time significantly inferior to premium Gremyaschy in many aspects. Gremyaschy has better: HE damage (1600 vs 1900) Fire chance (7% vs 9%) Camouflage fire penalty (5.9km vs 3.9km), which allows it to invisifire without Advanced Firing Training, unlike Gnevny. Torpedo range (4km vs 8km), which allows Gremy to invisitorp, unlike Gnevny. Base surface camo (7km 6.8km) Rudder shift time (4.4 vs 2.7) Turn radius (610 vs 510) Gnevny only has better speed (38 vs 37) more health (+800) and faster torpedoes (65kn vs 55kn)" You seem a fair-minded and logical person. I'm sure that you can understand what I am on about - even if you disagree with it (which is cool). -

Well, I kind of see your point . . . . .but you actually have the Gremy, and some of us stuck with the Gnevny sort of feel "second class citizens" -
How should we spec Captain skills after patch 0.5.3?
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to Vogel's topic in Destroyers
The well-known video blogger "notser" tries out torpedo acceleration in Shimakaze, and gets really good results with it. The apparently small increase in torpedo speed seems to make it really difficult for targets to get out of the way once they have spotted incoming torpedoes. I don't play tier 9/10 battles. Did Shimakaze need a buff like this? -
Great job!

The justification for buffing Mikhail Kutuzov in 0.5.3 was that it was needed so that the ship would be competitive ("balanced") with other tier 8 cruisers. Wargaming looked at the data, they said. That told them that the buffs were needed. Fine. I own a Kutuzov and know it can be difficult to play, It has some serious weaknesses. They don't knickname it "Citadelovitch" for nothing! So I applaud the concept of buffing ships to make them competitive. And of course we have to apply it to all tier 8 cruisers - since we don't want double standards - do we? So Wargaming.............. What buffs do you have planned for USS New Orleans?
-
Yes, it is a small issue. You are quite correct. That's why it is so irritating. If they had played just one game in testing - ONE GAME - they would notice the problem. This means, either: a) They didn't notice it because their testing was virtually non-existant b) They DID notice it and couldn't be bothered to warn the players in advance that there was a little bug that still needed to be fixed Either way, it's not a good look for Wargaming. P.S. "Most of the stuff thrown into the new patch does work and adds to the game." Glad you like it. As the saying goes it's an "ill wind that blows nobody any good". As someone who plays light cruisers, which have been nerfed quite strongly, my feelings towards this patch are understandably completely different. But we are both entitled to our opinions, of course.

Atago may well be the best T8 cruiser. It's a matter for discussion. But "clearly" the best? No - I think that is a claim too far. Mikhail Kutuzov has slightly better stats. Now, stats don't tell the whole story, but I would expect Atago to have better stats if it was really "clearly" the best. (And as premium ships we can expect the player profile of both ships to be similar) I'd say the margin between the two ships is quite small, whichever one you think is the better.
-
Yes, but you are a very very good player (maybe in the top 5% of the game) However like a lot of top players, you seem to have a blind spot in that you sometimes forget that the average player does not experience the game in the same way that you elite players do. The crippling lack of team play, coupled with unbalanced spawning can sometimes make Strait a nightmare. Think about it - it's only your superlative skill that gets you through the battles on this map, if your tactics are really as aggressive as they sound. If the average player takes on multiple full-health opponents they just get focus fired to death, unless they are such potatoes that they only take you on one at a time (like in Kung Fu movies in the 1970s )

Well, there are cruisers . . . .and there are cruisers.... My first game in my new USS Atlanta was on Ocean. It took me a week to get over the shock.

Brilliant! If you were a politician I would vote for you (and this from a serial non-voter!)

I like the Gnevny and have kept it. I'd love to get a Gremy, but I doubt that it will ever be sold again (which I think is a little bit unfair on those unable to get one - but only a little bit) This post (#6) from thread; http://forum.worldofwarships.eu/index.php?/topic/42713-gunboat-us-or-ru-line/ Quote from the Russian dd's thread "The Gnevny is similar but at the same time significantly inferior to premium Gremyaschy in many aspects. +1 Disappointed . . . . . but, sadly, not surprised.

0.5.3 0.5.3 Team Battles - Port Interface Feedback
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to Ph3lan's topic in Archive
+1 ...and I don't want the warning appearing the "Team battles start in "n" minutes" blatting the screen either. Whilst wargaming seem infatuated with them, they should not be rammed down everybody's throats. We should be able to turn off ALL Team Battles content! -
Yeah - but how small is a tank compared to a ship? You need a lot more paint for a ship.
-
Well, I am hardly the biggest fan of patch 0.5.3 (masterpiece of understatement!), but pick just a couple of items and explain WHY they seem crap to you. (Ideally something that hasn't been done to death already, which AFT & AA have been) You are a Beta Tester, and experienced in this game. I expect your views to be well worth reading, and I'm sure that they will be.
-
Yubari - what's your opinion about it?
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to Crysantos's topic in General Discussion
+ increase turret traverse time speed, so the ship can actually reliably participate in a battle outside the AA role. (which will decrease turret traverse time) Please pardon my amendment. No offence intended. -
Radar - Maybe a Future for Cruisers
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to Crusherheads's topic in General Discussion
The trouble with radar is that it gives cruiser captains some hope.
