  1. Yes, but since I am unlucky with matchmaking (I actually have data which proves this), I would prefer to be only ONE tier below top tier, rather than TWO tiers.

    incentives for playing elited ships?

Indeed. Since Patch 0.5.3 I have been keeping stats on my games. (Once the database is set up it only takes a few seconds to record the key data for each battle.) The actual data that I have experienced over 259 battles is: I am Mid Tier in 20.9% of my battles. I am Bottom Tier in 44.4% of my battles. I am Top Tier in 34.7% of my battles. Given that the Top Tier and Bottom Tier SHOULD BE EQUAL (in the central point of a normal distribution) then I consider myself mildly unlucky.

[rant] The Pensacola and her stupid detection range

    (1) I just bought the Pensacola as a "long-term project" ship. At this rate, everybody will be leaving their Pensacola's in port and buying the Indianapolis instead.Maybe it's just the latest installment of "Buy a Premium ship to get a competitive edge" plan? (2) 16.9 km range does seem a bit high, when you compare it to Pensacola(15.7 km), or Myoko (15.6 km). However an upgraded Shchors has 16.8 km (+20% with spotter plane), and an upgraded Yorck has 17.3 km.

So sad... Just to get Nº of battles...

    @Admiral_noodle @Martaloc801124 Good ideas!

Some interesting info around the world

Thank You! I collect all the Russian ships (though I'm not a ship collector in general). That price for the Molotov doesn't seem too bad.

Interesting. Any idea what they are selling it for? Is it in a bundle or can you just buy the ship_port slot?

"...a lower C hull". Please let this be true. Please. (Crosses fingers, toes, arms)

Someone forgot to adjust 'Situational Awareness' in 0.5.5

"Why WE should provide anything to you?" Because we all want this fixed, and "_FTD_" and his friends have done some excellent work already to demonstrate what is happening. It's a perfectly polite and reasonable request from Tuccy to see the replays. Refusing this request would be (to use the old saying) "cutting off our nose to spite our face".
  9. Just as a bit of lateral thinking.... Instead of setting the criteria as either: A) Sink 10 ships using a Battleship, or B) Cause 100,000 HP damage using a Battleship Is it beyond the skills of Wargaming Devs to set the criteria as: C) Sink 10 ships OR cause 100,000 HP damage using a Battleship (whichever comes first)

    Which cruiser next

Excellent post. Lots of good information about the ship, in nice clear language. I've copied the entire post into my own notes, if you don't mind.
  11. True, but being a bad CARRIER player (especially when the teams only have one carrier each) has far more impact on the game than being bad in any other class of ship. A huge difference in performance between each team's carrier CAN be overcome, but it is very difficult. In most cases it's a certain loss - and heavy insults from "team mates".

Wargaming must have gotten their ideas from the "Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch" and the lord spake saying, first shalt thou take out the holy pin. then shalt thou count to three, no more, no less. three shall be the number thou shalt count and the number of the counting shall be three. four shalt thou not count neither count thou two excepting that thou then proceed to three. five is right out. once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then lobbest thou thy holy hand grenade of antioch towards thy foe, who, being naughty in my sight, shall snuff it

Nuernburg is a joke. Heck everything in the German tree suffers. Everything.

Completely agree with this. Both ships are favourites of mine. Both are great when they are "top tier". However when "bottom tier" in a battle, I prefer Königsberg because I feel that the gap between tier 5 & 7 is smaller than between tier 6 & 8.

Pretty sure it's the 3s "delay" between SA saying you're no longer detected and that actually being true I object to. - me too. What next? Lying about the range of enemy ships? Telling me that "Our Victory is in sight" just seconds before the enemy wins? its not the most game breaking thing ever I suppose. I can count to 3.- Well, yes. But while you and I will know about this (because we read the forums), many players out there will NOT. i.e They will not be aware of the situation regarding "situational awareness" (to use playful language) Even those of us who do know will still get caught out sometimes. Besides, a three second delay mechanic is stupid. What possible purpose does it serve to gameplay in an arcade game?
  15. I kind of feel the same way. However I already have TWO carriers in my port that I have never played. I told myself that "I will get around to playing them someday" - and now is "someday". The contest has had the effect of forcing me to give carriers a try - so it's a good thing. I have watched about 6/7 videos so far and read several guides on how to play carrier, so I am making an effort to do it properly. That said. I will be taking part in my first training battles in a carrier later today and I am very nervous about letting my team down - even in co-op.
  16. One of the missions in week #1 has an explicit limit of tier V. "Sink 10 ships using a Tier V ship" So, tiers will be involved ..... and tears also I am sure. (Sorry, pathetic English Language joke)

Finaly a discount on Port slots

  18. Your prayers have been answered, My Son! http://worldofwarships.eu/en/news/special/special-fleetreview/ "Get Port Slots with 50% Doubloons discount" Doubloons discount
  19. True, but here is a FUN FACT: With a range of 13.5km its guns fire further than Furutaka! (11.8km stock, and 13.0km upgraded).
  20. I don't want to upset any fans of the ships on offer in GNB - but none of them appeal to me in the slightest. However, the port slot that comes with them IS appealing. I know that you can get a port slot for opening Supply Box #4 (for 100 diamonds), but you can only open each box once.
  21. I am sure that you are aware of this already, but just in case..... I notice that you say "slots" (plural). Remember what MrConway said in post #555 up-thread: "Each chest can only be opened once." So if you want more port slots after opening Supply Box #04 (free port slot, 100 diamonds) then you need to go for: Supply Box #09, Tachibana + Port Slot, 150 diamonds Supply Box #10, Smith + Port Slot, 350 diamonds Supply Box #08, Albany + Port Slot, 400 diamonds Supply Box #11, Katori + Port Slot, 400 diamonds

    Stay at Cleveland or Continue?

Two excellent replies. Thank You! @KL_7: "I'd suggest you try it again next PT (or even buy it on the normal server)." - good advice. In fact, your whole post is a very persuasive argument for keeping an open mind. @T_H_0_R: "And Pensa guns are very easy to use, unlike Cleveland's." - A lot, lot easier, I will admit. You make an extremely strong point! I'd miss the Rate of Fire, though - and the AA. (I had an awful time with carriers on the PT server, even running full AA setup at one point!) Considering that I have plenty of silver doubloons at the moment, . . . . AND no target ships to grind, . . . AND it is already researched, . . . . I may just get the Pensacola and give her a go! If I feel OK in her, then I have gained something. If I do badly in her, I can always mothball the ship temporarily until I feel ready to have another go with her in the future. I could stick my spare US Cruiser captain in Pensacola. (Current skills: 1-SA, 2-EM, 3-Vigilance, 4-DE, +1 spare point) may need a respec?
  23. This caught me out initially. It's actually 100,000 XP (for a prize of 20 diamonds) See: http://worldofwarships.eu/en/news/special/gnb-week1-coral-sea/ Due to not being able to play WoWS these days as much as I would like, and being such a noob of course, I only managed 149,000 XP for the whole of April. i doubt that I'll ever be able to get that much XP in just a week.
  24. I was hoping for money and flags from this event (As in the "Kamikaze R" challenge) and it looks as if I'll be able to get some, plus a port slot as a welcome bonus! So, Wargaming, thumbs up! I was worried about the missions because I don't play lots of games per month and I suck in anything but cruisers (though I suck in them also, but not so much). Thankfully, several missions look achievable. I believe that a personal target of 380 diamonds is possible, but if the weekly missions change and insist on using BBs or DDs then I could be struggling. However, a minimum of 220 diamonds should be probable - more than enough for some decent freebies. I have a moral dilemma about carriers. Please advise. I have two carriers in port since last October (Hosho and Langley) and I've never played either of them. I have no desire to play them, TBH, but the potential of an extra 100 diamonds is tempting - even if I just load up with fighters and try and protect my team (I think that the Bogue is supposed to be good at this?). However in my heart of hearts I feel that I would be letting my team down for personal gain. What to do?
