  1. @ATH67 1) "If I understand you right, what you are saying is that the very real suffering of people in our planet means we should not raise any concerns that are of lesser importance." No. You do not understand me right. I am implying that you get a sense of proportion over this. I get that you are unhappy. I'm disappointed that I don't have the time to get 500 battles. I live with it. It's just a game. 2) "I suggest that a thread on warship gaming is by definition on matters which will always be trivial compared to real suffering." If it is trivial then why are you going ON and ON and ON about it ad nauseam? 3) "I presume you do not for a minute imply that somehow I am a cause of that suffering or insensitive to it?" No. What a absurd suggestion. My, you are touchy! 4) "Would me saying that all is perfect with the 3000XP mission make you happy and content in connection to world poverty? I am not sure quite see the connection." See the answer to point#1 about "a sense of proportion". You have been carrying on in this thread as though you had suffered some major hurt. 5) "Do you ever get upset if you football team loses?" No. But I support Spurs. I'm used to it. It's part of the lessons of real life that you can't always get what you want. You asked me some questions, so now I have some for you: Question 1: When did you decide that one of the missions was "undoable"? At the start of the event you obviously didn't think this, because you carried out a plan based on the assumption that it was. You were also assuming what the missions in future weeks would be. You say that you "feel cheated and misled." Question 2: What statements by Wargaming can you quote that show them telling lies or misleading people? The truth is that you made some assumptions about what was going to happen. Those assumptions turned out wrong. Get over it. Question 3: Why is it that you refuse to buy Premium time, when you know that it increases your chance of doing some of the missions? You seem to have a very, very strong aversion to giving Wargaming any financial contribution, when this could solve your problems. Go without a couple of pints or coffees and buy some Premium time and you problem will be sorted!
  2. LOL! You have to remember that the pension is based on 1805 prices though. It hasn't kept pace with inflation.

Some interesting info around the world

If they move Cleveland to a higher tier they would need to buff it (if only to avoid riots from people who already have the ship). Maybe WG aren't sure about how to buff it? If we are lucky the question of the future of the Cleveland will be put at a future Q & A session AND ANSWERED!
  5. 1) It obviously irritates you greatly that you can't get the number of diamonds 2) You blame (1) on the fact that you feel you need Premium Time to achieve the missions. 3) You a very good player, and you could easily do this XP challenge if you bought Premium Time. So why don't you buy a little premium time then? Aren't you prepared to spend even a little amount on the game that you love so much? If something irritated me so much, and there was a simple solution buy spending a few pounds then I would do it, instead of complaining on the forum. And no, I am not rich - just a poor pensioner.
  6. You are not being "stuffed". You are just not getting as much freebies as you hoped. You can't get everything that you want in life. Be thankful that you are such a good player of this game. Mediocre cannon fodder such as me would give their right arm to be so good a player! (I'd also give my right arm to be ambidextrous ...boom! boom!)
  7. As a casual player (and not the most talented) I knew that I was never going to collect the theoretical maximum number of diamonds. However, I saw that there were desirable freebies on offer, so it was well worth taking part. IT WAS ALL GAIN AND NO LOSS! So I worked out a "reasonable" target, then added an extra amount on top. This gave me a personal target a bit outside my comfort zone - to stretch me a bit. (Still on schedule - yay!). I posted earlier upthread that I had gained unexpected bonusses in experience and understanding of the game by playing CVs and Battleships. Playing this weeks missions I found yet another unexpected bonus. A combination of 1) desiring the "Admiral Hipper" in my port (separate story), and 2) the need to get cruiser kills, and 3) the tier 7 kills mission has made me buy & play the Yorck. This ship gets a lot of criticism, and I was dreading it. But it's been great fun. I wouldn't have been playing Yorck but for the event. It's been just great for me!

    Is "cyclone" rare?

    1) OK, I'll not call it RNG. I'll call it "chance". Yes - it affects both sides equally, but the severe restriction in spotting range reduces the game to blind man's buff. It is pure chance who you might encounter with a spotting distance of 8km,. And in those circumstances, ships whose detection range is less than 8km are at a big advantage. 2) A recent battle : "North" map with 4 cap points SITUATION: 2 caps each. Enemy ahead on points (ships sunk). Cyclone arrives. WHAT HAPPENS IN BRIEF: Enemy retreat to safety for remainder of game while clock ticks away for the win. I don't find this sort of gameplay enjoyable at all.

    Is "cyclone" rare?

I hate cyclone. It turns everything into a lottery. There is far too much RNG in the game as it is. The only way that you can use the cyclone effects offensively is if your team is prepared to work together so that individual ships do not get ambushed. Teamwork in WoWS . . . . . yeah . . . . right.
  10. Agreed. I was thinking of people who (for example) wanted the "Tachibana" and the "Smith", but did not have enough diamonds for both ships. Knowing that they can get the "Tachibana" by another means than spending diamonds, they can go ahead and get the "Smith" without feeling that they have missed out.

You obviously were not playing WoWS (for whatever reason) when the Tirpitz first went on sale . . .

Premium Ships added to tech tree

Nice detective work! I presume that the cost of the requisite port slot (if you don't have a spare one) is 300 doubloons in Japan as well?
  13. All those thinking about how to spend their diamonds should take this into consideration. [Post #21 in thread http://forum.worldofwarships.eu/index.php?/topic/51772-premium-ships-added-to-tech-tree/page__st__20#topmost] Premium ships will be sold IN_GAME FOR DOUBLOONS (just as in North America, but a different list of ships) From Ectar..... And here is the EU list Japan: Tachibana (Destroyer; II) Mikasa (Battleship; II) USA: USS Marblehead (Cruiser; V) USS Saipan (Carrier; VII) USSR: Diana (Cruiser; II) Germany: Emden (Cruiser; II) UK: HMS Campbeltown (Destroyer; III) HMS Warspite (Battleship; VI) Tirpitz and Blyskawica will come at a later date. On the plus side for EU we have the Mikasa

    The amazing Chapayev

    (Sorry about the formatting) From "Patch Alert 0.5.4.1" Radar Consumable has been added for Tiers VIII-X on US cruisers. • For US cruisers, the radar works for 30, 35 and 40 seconds for Tiers VIII, IX and X respectively. • In comparison, for Soviet cruisers of the same Tiers the numbers would be 20, 20, 25 seconds respectively. Nation Tier Range (Km) Effective time Standard Cooldown/Amount Premium Cooldown/Amount USA VIII 9 30s 360s / 2 240s / 3 IX 9.45 35s 360s / 2 240s / 3 X 9.9 40s 360s / 2 240s / 3 USSR VIII 11.7 20s 360s / 2 240s / 3 IX 11.7 20s 360s / 2 240s / 3 X 11.7 25s 360s / 2 240s / 3

    HMS Campbeltown

Thank You to all the enthusiasts for putting my mind at rest. I hate mysteries. Lovely view of Grand Harbour. I can't look at that paticular view without seeing the oil tanker "Ohio" limping into port during Operation Pedestal (Or the "Santa Maria Convoy" as the Maltese call it - a better description IMHO).

Magazine detonation - remove it already

I am grinding the Yorck at the moment. Let's face it you need all the help you can get there! Just played a game where I got a few quick hits and was on full health, nicely angled and *BOOM* detonation. I can cope with being one shot by a BB, or a good torpedo drop from a carrier - but not detonations. And the worse thing about it is that I have to grind an extra game in Yorck to compensate for the game where I was detonated.

I think that they are Risalan's stats when playing the "Imperator Nikolai I".
  18. Gremyaschy is better than Gnevny in the following ways (Gnevny figures first):: • HE damage (1600 vs 1900) • Fire chance (7% vs 9%) • Camouflage fire penalty (5.9km vs 3.9km), which allows it to invisifire without Advanced Firing Training, unlike Gnevny. • Torpedo range (4km vs 8km), which allows Gremy to invisitorp, unlike Gnevny. • Rudder shift time (4.4 vs 2.7) • Turn radius (610 vs 510) Gnevny only has better speed (38 vs 37) more health (+800) and faster torpedoes (65kn vs 55kn)
  19. I wasn't around for the original sale. I never heard of WoWS until it was released to everybody, and even then I only found out about it by accident. I collect the Russian ships, so I would have to buy Gremyashchy, even if they do nerf it. On a completely different thread a couple of players who have the Gremy were gloating over the fact that they have this great ship, and boasting about their achievements with it, and the fact that nobody else is going to get it. It's only human nature, I suppose, and the vast majority of owners certainly don't behave like this. However I have to say that I find it mildly irritating.

Now this is interesting. From the Patch Notes for 0.5.6, posted in thread "0.5.6 Patchnotes anyone?" http://forum.worldofwarships.eu/index.php?/topic/51753-056-patchnotes-anyone/ Indianapolis: radar consumable added
