4th Ranked Season Starting on the 10.06.2016!

Sadly, I can. A fear of confirming what I already suspect. However, let me give a word of praise to Wargaming here. This looks like a much improved version of Ranked Battles which I'm sure that the players will appreciate.

Which forum members have you seen in random battles?

creamgravy modestly fails to mention that he went to the West flank in "Solomon Islands" and caused absolute panic in the enemy in his Campbelltown! After he got 3 kills and sent the enemy fleeing, he kindly left me a couple of cripples to finish off. A very nice game with some friendly banter before the start.

Some interesting info around the world

Very good post. I agree with you 100%, especially this bit: "In general I'm absolutely against having premium ships that you can only get in extremely convoluted and difficult ways (like clan war tanks in WoWs for example). But this is the collector in me speaking." The casual, average player (such as myself) simply cannot do massive grinding missions. The GNB event has been a bit "grindy" it's true, but overall excellent for me because I've been encouraged to push myself a bit further, and the rewards are both achievable and welcome. (I got Katori!)

WG Premium Shop: Please Consider Better Flag Packages

I think that you should be able to buy individual flags in units of, say, 50.

    USS Indianapolis

    - If you take the radar consumable it replaces the catapult fighter. - The radar has a ship acquisition distance of 8.49 km - Radar is active for 25 seconds - Surveillance Radar 1 has TWO charges, with a reload time of 360 seconds, and is free - Surveillance Radar 2 has THREE charges, with a reload time of 240 seconds, and costs 15 Gold or 22,500 silver

Got her! I won't be performing at "star" level, like the Youtube reviewers, but she looks a fun (and slightly challenging ship for me) ship to play. I must, however, finish my GNB mission targets before having a serious run in her.
  7. I have always been suspicious of the term "average", ever since it was proved to me that I have more than the average number of legs.

    USS Indianapolis

iChase says (in the comments below the video) "I played other battles with her against many tier 8 and 9 teams and faced off against BBs and she does much better than she did before. Heck, before the fix, even 120mm HE could citadel the Indianapolis, but after her protection fix, that's no longer the case. " I am very much looking forward to trying out this ship, to put it mildly.

    Koningsberg

I love my Königsberg (see my sig) - and maybe it really IS the best Tier V cruiser as you say. However I feel more powerful and effective when sailing my Murmansk TBH. Just my opinion.

Some interesting info around the world

I'd hoped for a tier 5 ship, to correspond with the tier 5 premiums available to other nations (USN=Texas, Marblehead, USSR=Murmansk, IJN=Kamikaze R) Tier 6 is a strange tier for me. Some ships at that tier I like. Other ships I feel "meh" about. I do better in the "meh" ships than the "liked" ships. Weird!
  11. Just played a set of 5 games before going to bed. In three of them there was the same player (who I am not allowed to name and shame due to forum rules) He was AFK in all of them.

    Permenant premium camo

I was put off the idea of premium camo by what happened with my Cleveland. I bought the candy cane camo for her, because I thought that she was a keeper. It turns out she wasn't. There were big changes to cruisers in Patch 0.5.3. I was able to adjust my play style to compensate in ALL other cruisers except Cleveland. (Murphy's Law!) This is personal, of course, and I am not knocking the ship. Other players love the ship in her present configuration.

Someone forgot to adjust 'Situational Awareness' in 0.5.5

Thanks for keeping us informed. It's very much appreciated.

    Other changes

+1 I've had to turn the sounds down - which is a big nerf to the "immersion" in playing the game.

    "Leave Queue"

    +1 Great Idea!

    Does MM overvalue Divisions

You make an excellent point. That is exactly what has been happening to me. I don't willingly play Tier 8 or above, because I tried it and I am simply not good enough to be anything other than Free XP to the enemy. The only reason that I get dragged into these maps is as a low-tier ship (which is OK since higher-tier players want to be top tier sometimes!). I play cruisers, and I think that this class has more difficulty in adjusting to being two-tiers below top tier than, say, Destroyers. This is especially true at higher tiers because it has a higher proportion of good players than low tiers IMHO. So I usually die quickly - which is great for my chances of grinding the most games possible to complete GNB Missions!

    Does MM overvalue Divisions

Divisions don't "work" for me, excpet for training purposes. I'm a solo player and I get to be bottom tier rather more than top tier. Subjective impressions can be misleading. That's why I set up a database after Patch 0.5.3 to record my games (419 battles ATM). This leads to surprising revelations such as:- Although I hate the "Strait" map, I have one of my best win rates on it (61% in 59 games)- On the "New Dawn" map I have been top tier 32 times and bottom tier only 17 times- On "Land of Fire" I have been top tier ONCE in 28 games- On "Hotspot" I have NEVER been top tier in 20 games

    Furutaka

I provide this data for the discussion of wiser heads than mine. I am genuinely confused as to which is the more desirable ship to play now. (All corrections will be gratefully received.) I compared my Furutaka and Aoba in port. They are full upgraded, and I removed captains skills from the comparison. Same in both ships - Armour - AP Shell Damage - HE Shell Damage - Fire chance of HE shell - Secondary Armament - Torpedo Range - Torpedo Damage - Detectability by Air Aoba better - Hit Points (31,900 vs 30,700) - Main Battery Firing Range (14.9km vs 13.0km) - Main Battery reload time (11.0s vs 15.0s) - Anti Aircraft Defense (33 vs 23 rating) - Maximum Speed (35 kts vs 34.5 kts) - Turning Circle Radius (710m vs 750m) - Rudder shift time (5.2s vs 5.7s) - Detectability by Sea (11.7km vs 11.9km) Furutaka better - Torpedo Damage Reduction ( 7% vs 4%) - Yes, I was surprised also - Torpedo Tube reload time (94.0s vs 102.0s) - Torpedo firing arcs - one lower tier matchmaking

    Furutaka

Yes - but it's not a 2-skill Captain who is at the keyboard!

    Stealth firing nerf

Yes, it is annoying when you are being fired at, and you can't see the ship that's doing the firing . . . . . . but enough about Destroyers and their Torpedoes.

    Stealth firing nerf

There are two issues here: a) The rights and wrongs of stealth firing I'll leave others to discuss this, but let's not just confine the discussion to stealth firing of guns - include stealth firing of torpedoes also. b) The issue of poor communications This is the OP's MAIN grievance, I believe. It is simply outrageous that a major change is made to the game such as this without it being included in the patch notes.

Good spot! I've suddenly become interested in the ship again.
