Well, I received a 12 point Captain - along with the ship. However, since I'm (sadly) not suited to torpedo-boat destroyer play, and annoyed at the latest reported nerfs to the upcoming British cruiser line, then he'll probably be on permanent gardening leave. http://forum.worldofwarships.eu/index.php?/topic/31444-some-interesting-info-from-ru/page__st__4540#topmost "In todays twich the developers mentioned that the RN cruiser line will be reworked, possibly getting Speed Boost, Improved Repair Party, better ballistics, orientation to AP, and may even lose HE." It's also been mentioned that the RN cruisers would lose the proposed ability to make a smokescreen.

Will the RN cruiser make high tier battles worse?
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to ThePurpleSmurf's topic in General Discussion
Sorry, I don't understand your reply. Is it connected with your avatar? I hoped to make it clear by what I said subsequently. The RN is what I've been waiting for, and if it turns out to be garbage, then I'll naturally feel so disappointed that I'll take my time and money elsewhere - that's all. Nothing sinister! -
REQUEST for Premium Ships (wishlist)
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to 1MajorKoenig's topic in General Discussion
ADMIRAL GRAF SPEE (I sense a trend here!) The real ship: Admiral Graf Spee was one of three "Deutschland" class Heavy Cruisers (called "Pocket Battleships" by the British) and one of the most iconic warships of World War 2. She took part in the famous "Battle of the River Plate" in December 1939 (later dramatised in a motion picture). Her Captain, Hans Langsdorff, won the respect of his countries enemies by his humane treatment of capture ships crews and by his suicide after the scuttling of his ship to demonstrate that his actions were not caused by cowardice on his part. Before her luck ran out, this feared ship had eluded eight allied hunting groups during a cruise in the South Atlantic in which she sank 9 merchant ships. In WOWS: The final form of Graf Spee as she took part in the "Battle of the River Plate". Speed: 28.5 kn HP pool: around 25,000 Guns: 2x3 28cm - reload 20sec / range 17km (approx) Secondarys = 8 x 1 150mm Torpedoes = 8 x 533mm AA = 8 x 20mm at time of battle. Pros / Cons: At Tier 6, Fast enough to outrun anything that can kill her; Powerful guns to sink anything that can. Good accurracy of main battery Only cruiser armour, but slightly better than Nürnberg weak AA Special Feature: Arado floatplane replaced by fighter for better AA. Low cooldown? Good concealment to reflect ships famous skills in disguising the ship -
Fears about the IJN destroyer line rework
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to Kanmen's topic in General Discussion
I think that players need to know more about Wargaming's intentions so that they can plan for them. SCENARIO 1 Current situation is this. A player wants to get T7 Hatsuharu and has T5 Minekaze, elited, 0 XP T6 Mutsuki with 50000 XP Since T7 Hatsuharu needs a total of 63000 XP to research, player is currently 13000 XP short. After the re-organisation the player now has: T5 Minekaze, elited, 0 XP T5 Mutsuki with 50000 XP Next ship is T6 Fubuki, which should need 38000 XP to research as a tier 6 ship. What do WG do? Give the player the T6 Fubuki, and leave 12000 XP with Mutsuki? Give the player the T6 Fubuki, and give the 12000 XP to it? Presumably the player has to start from zero in grinding towards the Hatsuharu, but this time go back to Minekaze again. SCENARIO 1 (modified) Current situation is this. A player wants to get T7 Hatsuharu and has: T5 Minekaze, elited, 40000 XP T6 Mutsuki with 50000 XP Since T7 Hatsuharu needs a total of 63000 XP to research, player is currently 13000 XP short. After the re-organisation the player now has: T5 Minekaze, elited, 40000 XP T5 Mutsuki with 50000 XP Next ship in the Minekaze line is Hatsuharu, which should need 38000 XP to research as a tier 6 ship. What do WG do? Give the player the T6 Hatsuharu, and leave 2000 XP with Minekaze? -
New IJN DD, what happens to old perma camo?
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to Charger76's topic in Destroyers
Maybe, just maybe, Wargaming will do something for the players that are affected by them moving ships from one tier to another. However, they didn't provide compensation for anyone who bought permanent camo on a cruiser that got nerfed by the "Basic Firing Training"/"Advanced Firing Training"/"Expert Marksman" changes in patch 0.5.3. I bought permanent camo for my Nurnberg. Loved the ship. Thought that it was a "keeper". Never got it to work properly since the nerf. (Though to be fair, I have managed to compensate on my Konigsberg) -
What's the incentive to tier up? I play the game because I enjoy certain ships, but also because I want to get better at it. I can improve my skills by practice and playing against more challenging opposition. The correct tier for me is where I feel the balance is just right between a) struggling against the other team, and b) making a significant contribution to the team. For me right now this is Tier 6. There is a bit of a power jump to Tier 7 which I have found to be a stumbling block. After over 100 matches I decided to stop playing it until I am good enough. No worries! I'll keep practising and get there again one day.

Discussion thread for "some interesting info around the world"
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to Deamon93's topic in General Discussion
MK also has very good range on its Main Battery. The kind of range that other 6" gun cruisers used to get when their Captain had the "Advanced Firing Training" skill. -
Will the RN cruiser make high tier battles worse?
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to ThePurpleSmurf's topic in General Discussion
nah! You gave the real answer yourself earlier in your post: "However i am seriously concerned that WG have no idea what they are doing." "Never ascribe to malice that which is adequately explained by incompetence." (a quote sometimes credited to Napoleon) I am overwhelmingly a cruiser player - though I have been enjoying playing my German battleships recently - and the one thing that I have been looking forward to most of all is the RN Cruiser line. IT MUST BE STRESSED:We still don't know how the RN cruisers will turn out - they may be considered OP for all we know. However this news is worrying if there is any substance behind it. If WG mess this up I don't know what to do quite honestly. I'm an idiot who has paid embarrassingly large amounts of money to WG on World of Warships (Premium Time, 13 Premium Ships, Gold, Flags, etc). I took a long break from the game in the summer and hardly missed it. It doesn't make business sense to annoy useful idiots so much that we give up on the game in frustration.. -
Proposal for WG: Creation of special ship "WWI Hulls" and "Random Battle WWI" and "Co-op Battle WWI" game types!
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
I love this idea. We don't need full ship trees for it, which is one of the things that makes including the Austro-Hungarian navy so difficult at the moment. A Tegetthoff class battleship would be an interesting brawler, I reckon. -
Checking my stats on Warships Today, it has to be Fuso (even though I like this excellent ship) I have better than average stats in every category except one - Win Ratio. It is only 30.4%! (admittedly in only 23 battles, but still) Meanwhile, in USS New Mexico at the same tier I perform worse in every category than Fuso.....and have a 77.% win rate.
-
Nah - WG would never add Fuso. It would be too overpowered. It's just the OP trolling us.

Prince Eugen Available to purchase now !
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to TycBrum's topic in General Discussion
Fortunately for my wallet, the ship that I wanted to have was a silver ship - Admiral Hipper. I've never played a battle with the ship (Tier 8 is still beyond my ability at the moment). I had three German ship models, and I thought that they were extremely handsome ships. I have two of them already (Hipper & Scharnhorst) and will grind my way to the third (Bismarck). Of course I had my beloved Royal Navy ships also, and hope that WG add them to the game: Hood, Nelson, Cossack, Suffolk, Ark Royal, King George V, Hotspur -

...but that is OK, since HMS Belfast will only be Tier 7. -
Playing for fun - a question of philosophy?
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to Procrastes's topic in General Discussion
100% Agree with that! The desire to help the team and to win is the main reason that I stick to the mid-tiers. It's a struggle but I can still compete and help the team. Higher tier games (7 and upwards for me) are more than a struggle. I fell a little bit overpowered TBH and a passenger on the team. I do collect stats from my games, but only so that I can measure personal progress, and so that I can confirm or deny certain questions, such as: - Are certain maps good/bad for me? - Do I seem to be bottom tier rather a lot in certain ships? - Which ships gain most from being top tier? - Which tiers (in general) do I do best at? and so on. I don't always get the answers from the stats that I expected - but surely that is a good thing.- 51 replies

XP Ratio incredibly low after the Patch
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to _FTD_'s topic in General Discussion
I played five games today in Königsberg. Average damage = 50244. Average base XP = 685. On that scale, your battle seems to be about right - but it certainly does SEEM lower after the patch. Regarding the "nerged armour" question. No. Armour was always weak. The problem now is that you are facing more Battleships, and playing more games lower tier against more powerful guns in enemy cruisers (T7 Pensacola, Myoko, Indianapols, Yorck). -
Cyclones don't actually last forever - it just seems that way. Mind you, they are a joy compared to the new Epicenter game mode. I know that people hate border hugging snipers, but forcing us to brawl at close range is just taking it to the other extreme. (Thus speaks a cruiser player - can't you tell! LOL)

FULL CAPTAIN SKILL TREE SUGGESTION POLL
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to aleksandrov2's topic in General Discussion
Some interesting ideas there, and I'd be quite happy if some of them were developed further. WG refreshed the tree earlier in the year, because they know that there are too many "no-brainer" choices. My particular grievance with Captains skills is that you are forced to choose something from each tier. My own view is that if you have 10 points to "spend" than you should be able to spend them how you want. For example, If this means 1 x Tier 4 skill, 2 x Tier 2 skills, 2 x Tier 1 skills and zero Tier 3 skills, then so be it! -
New Premium | König Albert Detected
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to Tuuletar's topic in General Discussion
König Albert is a handsome ship IMHO, and I have enjoyed playing the German Battleships (just started Bayern) so I'd like to have her in my fleet. However since I am mainly a cruiser player, I have to make myself unpopular here and say that I think it would be better to delay her sail until the present glut of Battleships has passed. The gameplay can be surreal in some battles at the moment. -

According to "WarshipsToday" stats for the last two weeks that I just looked at, most IJN Cruisers perform favourably when compared to their peers. (minimum 100 battles) At Tier 3, Katori outperforms other cruisers in every single category (sometimes by a sizeable margin). These categories are Win Rate, Average Damage, Average XP, KIll/Death Ratio, Ship Kills per game, Aircraft kills per game, Survival rate, Main Battery Hit Rate, and Torpedo Hit Rate (tied with Tenryu) At Tier 4 it's a similar story with Yuubari. Amongst regular cruisers Svietlana has a small edge over Kuma. At Tier 5, Murmansk/Marblehead are kings of the hill, but Furutaka is now in the middle of the pack in terms of stats, rather than at the bottom like in the bad old days. At Tier 6, Molotov leads in every category. Budyonny is clearly ahead of all the other silver ships. Cleveland & Aoba compete for 3rd place. At Tier 7, (Leaving aside the special case of USS Flint), Shchors has a narrow edge of the IJN ships - both regular and ARP versions perform fairly equally. At Tier 8, It’s a toss up between Mikhail Kutuzov and Atago, with Mogami in the middle of the pack. At Tier 9, Dmitri Donskoi just manages to outperform Ibuki/Roon. Finally, at Tier 10, Zao is king of a very decent performing group of cruisers. I've only played up to Tier 8, and I don't enjoy heavy cruiser. However I love the Kuma. At the end of the day it's about fun!

Ships that you don't have - provided that they appear in the Tech Tree in-game. It would be nice to be able to see Premium Ships that are NOT listed in the Tree - but you can't have everything I suppose.

Spawning miles away from my team on my own?
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to xHazzH's topic in General Discussion
I saw this kind of spawn personally on the Public Test server recently. In fact I saw it TWICE, and in both cases we were the team that suffered the instant death of our carrier - but it was only PT so that's OK. Other people saw it as well, and commented on it in the PT section of this forum. It looks as if WG did not manage to fix the bug, but released 5.11 anyway. Poor show! -
Perhaps you could try merging the two ships into one, and call it the "Hari-Kirishima". Colour it orange, and get Karma on your side.

Apart from Belfast, there seems to be another upcoming RN Premium: HMAS Perth
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to MrFingers's topic in General Discussion
Absolutely! Mind you the poor Germans don't even have a tier 5. There is a yawning gap between T2 Emden and T7 Scharnhorst. A T5 Premium cruiser would suit me nicely, especially if its "unique" point was that it had good HE for a German ship. -
Blimey! Zechariah Chapter 10, Verse 11"And he shall pass through the sea with affliction, and shall smite the waves in the sea...." But only when RNG is being unkind.
