  2. Indeed. "We have no eternal allies, and we have no perpetual enemies. Our interests are eternal and perpetual, and those interests it is our duty to follow."Lord Palmerston.Twice Prime Minister and also Foreign Secretary, in the 19th Century. The difference between him and me (as someone inclined towards the Left), is that I consider that friendly, respectful, fair relations between countries is vital to our real interests.

    Destined to fail

  4. My record using CVs in Co-op.....6 battles....1 warship destroyed. (my stats are public and can be checked) The bots beat me up - I am that bad in a CV. At that rate I would need 30 battles to do the mission. No friggin way.

    RN CLs With New AP

Maybe Belfast will be allowed to keep the smoke+HE combo. It's a Premium ship, after all. Perhaps that's the radical new concept that RN cruisers will bring to the game: P2S ("Pay to Survive")
  6. I've done "Rise of the machines", but I'm not doing the other one. I won't be corralled into playing *&%$£*& aircraft carriers by you or anybody else. Utmost respect to CV captains. They make it looks easy, but it isn't. It drives me nuts. It's like the game of chess. Learning the moves is easy - but playing it well is hard.

New Japanese Destroyers - a Sneak Peek

This whole thing with moving ships down to lower tiers is will cause complications - but nothing that cannot be sorted amicably with some goodwill from Wargaming. Wargaming need to tell us their proposal for handling it NOW, however, so that players can make preparations for the split well in advance. It's no use leaving it until the last minute and giving players what might be a nasty surprise.

Will the RN cruiser make high tier battles worse?

Well they were going to get DP guns, but Wargaming decided that made them OP, so they got nerfed to just AA guns.

Will the RN cruiser make high tier battles worse?

I jokingly suggested in another thread that the Royal Navy Aircraft Carrier line would have ZERO planes, but really good AP for its AA guns. You never know. There is an old saying "Many a true word is spoken in jest"

+1 Similar position as you - except I have the Mutsuki and have upgraded it to 10km torpedoes. I've already sweated blood once to get these torpedoes - I don't want to have to do it again. Otherwise I'll be asking @Tirande for tips on "other means to get my point across to WG".

WG, please consult player base before doing this RN CL overhaul

These are some very good constructive suggestions IMHO.

    RN CLs With New AP

Well there is a lot of good old-fashioned common sense there. "And the removal of B/AFT and EM benefits from 140mm and up guns" Some people coped better than others - but it hit me hard. That's when I took a snapshot of my stats pre-nerf, and created a database to record my game data (715 games currently) so that I could analyse the changes to my performance.- Survival rate, average damage, kills, win rate - all sharply down with Königsberg and Nürnberg particularly badly affected. So I have good reason to be apprehensive.

It makes "Expert Loader" redundant at tier 1 as well. After all the guff from Wargaming about revising the Captains skills to offer real choice, and remove "obvious" choices - we come down to this.

New Japanese Destroyers - a Sneak Peek

http://worldofwarships.eu/en/news/common/sub-branch-japanese-destroyers/ "Of course, to those who have already upgraded all the ships the changes will be covered, so there is no need to upgrade your favourite ships one more time. " They still can't explain what happens to people who are currently at tier 6 with Mutsuki (which I upgraded to 10km torpedoes) When they shaft demote Mutsuki to tier 5 will I be given a tier 6 ship with 10km torpedoes or not? Come on Wargaming it's not difficult to answer!

WG, please consult player base before doing this RN CL overhaul

But "consultation" doesn't have to be that way Jethro. Everything you said about people and their preferred class of ships is true. Agree 100%. You expect that sort of feedback - it's built in. I'm not talking about including Joe Public in the actual design. However when you are proposing changes as radical as "Flame thrower HE spammer" ships, or "No HE at all" the most basic thing you need to find out is how the player base are going to react to it. Suppose you give the players a chance to try the ships on the Public Test server and they tell you overwhelmingly "Yes - we like this", or "No - we don't like this and we won't play these ships". That seems a pretty worthwhile type of consultation to me.

New Japanese Destroyers - a Sneak Peek

In my port I currently have a tier 2, tier 3, tier 4, tier 5 and tier 6 IJN destroyer (actually two tier 5 counting the Kamikaze R) After the reorganisation of Japanese Destroyer I expect to be given a tier 6 DD of my choice to replace the tier 6 (Mutsuki) that is being demoted to tier 5. I think that this is a reasonable request - but I may be missing something. What do others think?

    RN CLs With New AP

@LilJumpa TL;DR Yes, you are right that the reaction was predictable. Yes, it is premature. Yes, we are all getting too excited. But when you look at all the factors it is perhaps understandable (at least a little bit) Yes - I am on the forums a lot, LOL! I don't have much time to load the game and play, but I can quickly scan and post on the forums. I would also like to say that I respect your opinion, and have said so recently in another thread. You are correct. The reaction was predictable. There is a mixture of professional complainers, anti-Wargaming Warriors, whiners, and people extremely fearful of being unfairly treated. I can identify with the last group, since I believe that WG have got previous form (allegedly) with the treatment of British Tanks in "World of Tanks". You are also 100% correct in your comments about German BBs. There was a lot of anxiety and complaining BEFORE the release. They turned out very well. Even I (a dedicated cruiser player) am enjoying them - up to Bayern now! IMHO what has caused the uproar over Royal Navy cruisers is that a) the original concept has been abandoned (AT WARGAMINGS OWN ADMISSION) and b) the suggestions of alternatives (again some from Wargaming themselves, some from 3rd party rumour mongers) are deeply worrying. It's also unprecedented. Up to now, for each new line three has been a iterative cycle of "Test-Make Changes-Test-Make Changes" when developing new lines, not "Test-Abandon Concept-Throw out suggestions of alternatives which just provoke a backlash". People have seen video of RN cruisers in action (e.g. Jingles) and been in games with these ships and they seemed to be "competitive". (Wargamers own testers may have handed in completely opposite reports of course). We also hear from a respected Supertester (no naming-and-shaming) that there were complaints about them from the RU forum that these ships were "too competitive", and complaints about all the smoke. A lot of British people have a strong attachment to the Royal Navy. (Don't forget it is one of the few countries in the world where the Navy is the "Senior Service"). We have been waiting a LONG TIME for a British line when we have seen no less than eight lines from other countries developed (including two from a country with a magnificent army and air force but a rather ordinary navy). Wargaming are not handling this well at all. A few diplomatic "White Lies" while they took stock of the situation and worked out a coherent alternative would have been the best approach.
  18. Since the other thread has gotten out of hand, I'll ask my question here. I did a bit of research, and this is what I found (possible incomplete info) SHIP IN GAME EQUIVALENT Harekaze Kagero Musashi Yamato Hiei Kongo Maikaze Kagero Hamakaze Kagero Admiral Graf Spee None Tenjin ???? So would it be fair to assume that the only reward ship for this event will be a Kagero-class DD?

Best JPN CA at it's tier.

Many thanks for the reply - especially since it was an interesting one. I'm kind of hooked on AP in Heavy Cruisers - because in all the videos on YT the star players take HUGE chunks of damage with it. It never happens with me though. This is probably where I am going wrong. Funny thing is, when I play Light Cruisers I always try to use the "correct" ammunition. I turn into an AP zombie with CA's. PS. I am impressed that you have an 18pt captain. I'm a casual player due to limited time available to play the game. I just worked out that I would have to play my best captain AND NO OTHER for almost six months to get an 18 point captain.

Chatham dock event , whos going ?,

Actually, that is a good idea. If Wargaming explain that it is purely experimental and that they are actively seeking feedback from the players it would be good PR AND they would get valuable feedback.

    RN CLs With New AP

I don't know about the Government in the country where you live, but in mine there is a long tradition of issuing informal leaks to the media to test public opinion. The media publish the stories and the public reacts. If the reaction is positive, the Government push ahead with whatever they are proposing in the leaks. If the reaction is negative, the Government say something like "We never had any intention of doing what was in these unsubstantiated reports" I think that Wargaming might (just might, mind you) be trying these tactics to see what would be acceptable to the players, before committing to something which turns out to be extremely unpopular. British Cruisers ....... Wargaming's Red Headed Stepchild.

Best JPN CA at it's tier.

Very impressive! What is it that is getting you all this damage? A large number of fires? Success with AP shells? Lots of torpedo hits? Also, do you have any replays to upload to wowsreplays? These games that you had could be valuable teaching material. I'm particularly interested in observing how the ship is positioned on the map and how it works with/without the team. Once again.

Chatham dock event , whos going ?,

I'm in North London, and have visited Chatham before. I was thinking of going along to the event, but after this evenings revelations about the latest ideas for Version 2 of the British Cruiser line (after Version 1 got cancelled following playtesting) I think that it would be wiser not to go. I would only be arrested if I did.

Will the RN cruiser make high tier battles worse?

Pretty much this. The thought of a Tier 6 Leander against a Budyonny is frightening (whose armour is buffed in the same article that announced that the unique feature of the RN Cruiser line would be that it would be the "Free XP" for everyone else). How would a Leander counter a Budyonny? It can't even run away - Budyonny will catch it eventually, even if Leander does use the ridiculous speed boost that is being proposed. The only problem the Budyonny will have is in deciding whether to kill the Leander with HE or AP.

Some very nice shots in that album. I like the way that you have varied the "mood" of each picture, and use lots of different camera angles.
