One day you and I will actually agree on something. Nah! That's just a fantasy!
-
Very interesting. This is just one example, however if you find that there is a pattern here please post to the forum. Wargaming have said that they are thinking of producing some sort of guide on the new mechanics, but until they do the only thing that we have to go on is the information that we get back from the players. Reports such as this one are therefore very useful, but we need more of them.

Nuernburg is a joke. Heck everything in the German tree suffers. Everything.

LIKED. An error occurred You have reached your quota of positive votes for the day -
How very gracious of Wargaming. In the meantime we have to try and work out the principles. This reminds me of how the damage mechanics had to be teased out - with a lot of sheer trial and error and players experimenting in training rooms. If Wargaming made physical machinery they would deliver it without a manual explaining what all the controls did, but with a promise to "maybe" produce one later.

@OP I am possibly the only one who thinks this but I'll say it anyway. When you subtract the 1 million Boot Camp bonus you get the earnings from the actual game. I think that you deserved rather more, considering that you were bottom tier, yet finished in second place in your team in a victory.
-
I cannot remember the exact figure, but I read recently that a surprisingly high number of people play co-op battles ONLY. Since you tend to have high survival rates against the bots - and consequently low repair costs in the old system - this would seem to hit co-op players hardest.
-
You must be good with torpedoes then - that's the only explanation that I can think of, because as a gunboat the Gnevny (Same real life ship class as Anshan) is better and is one tier lower for matchmaking. I posted a comparison yesterday of the differences between the two ships. See post #22 here: http://forum.worldofwarships.eu/index.php?/topic/62934-one-time-offer/page__st__20#topmost

@Post #400 Excellent reply, thank you! Relieved to know that I will get 10km torpedoes in whatever choice I make for tier 6 Mutsuki replacement. I don't have an IJN captain with concealment expert, and it is almost 100% certain that I never will. Therefore it appears that Hatsuharu is the better choice for me. "I think it will depend on your play style and ultimate goal. If you want the Shimakaze ultimately you will obviously want to pick Fubuki..." - good advice, but I won't be moving past tier 6. In fact, it probably won't ever even be played. It's my "Sanity Insurance Policy". It sounds weird, but I wont bother to explain it here. It's a long and boring story, but rest assured the theme of it is respect for the skills of IJN destroyer captains - which is something that I have realised that I will never be. You guys don't deserve all the nerfs that Wargaming give you in patch after patch. You are getting a raw deal IMHO.

Will the RN cruiser make high tier battles worse?
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to ThePurpleSmurf's topic in General Discussion
A great reply. I would have given it a "like", but the system tells me that I cannot. I have used up my quota. You gave some great examples of the use of concealment. Many Thanks! Regarding the 15 point captain, you good players live in a different world to us potatoes! To leave you in no doubt that you are getting a sincere compliment here is a salute! I am ashamed to say that my actual stats are quite a bit worse than the figures you used in your example calculation. My average base XP in my last 743 games is only 810.8 (Stats taken from results screens and saved in my database). I have been running premium AND flags since the first month that I played the game (September last year). With the daily win bonus (and a 50% win rate) we can multiply the base XP by 2.5 to get approximately 2025 XP as an average per game figure. Plus I only have time for 2/3 games per day. BUT THIS IS OK! I just have to maximize the time that I have in order to get the most benefit. It can be done! -
Thank you for those links. Most interesting. I have a question however. Wargaming staff (and some forum members) have said that there have been similar reorganisations in World of Tanks. After the reorganisation there has been a generous settlement with the vast majority of people quite happy. I have T5 Minekaze and T6 Mutsuki (with 10km torpedoes) at the moment. Provided that I have a T5 ship and a T6 ship with 10km torpedoes AFTER the reorganisation then I will be content. MY QUESTION: If wargaming ask me to pick a T6 ship, which one should I choose?

Will the RN cruiser make high tier battles worse?
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to ThePurpleSmurf's topic in General Discussion
Concealment is certainly good for destroyers, I will agree 100% there. But if you actually want to DO something in a cruiser then you have to open fire. (You can't stealth torp in this ship either). As soon as you open fire then you are spotted. Unless you get a devastating blow in first then you are at a disadvantage IMHO (though I freely admit that I am pretty useless and will happily accept tuition on how to make best use of good concealment). Incidentally - and this is not aimed at anyone, just an observation - after a years play I only recently gained a 15 pt captain (two actually). It isn't easy for a casual, average player to get one. You need 646,900 XP to get 15 points. At 25-30 games per week, and 1500 xp per game (thats WITH flags, premium and bonusses for a potato such as me!) that over 15 weeks of playing nothing else but RN cruisers! -

12.8 km range for a tier 6? How is that going to work then. Destroyers will outrange it because they can get AFT skill. Budyonny will murder it. -
crap!0.5.12up,No Money,No EXP!!!

Interesting. As a matter of interest, what tiers & ships have you been playing? (just a friendly question) -

Now I know why they call Yorkshire "God's own county" ....because God only knows what they are talking about! (But I'm only a mere Londoner - I know nothing) -
(System told me that I have run out of likes)

Just the right tone, IMHO. A change has actually been made and people feel strongly that there are big effects because of it. As you rightly say, let's calmly keep an eye on it for a while and see how it works out. Once we have more data to go on THEN we can make a more informed opinion.
-
Good point! It will also make life more difficult for any cruiser from tier 7 and below who get uptiered to a Tier 8 battle. They will be even more at a disadvantage against higher tier cruisers.

British Accent Voice is Hilarious (Please Change it)
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to JobyJudd's topic in General Discussion
This is the British voice we need in WoWS (and this line should be included somewhere as well - maybe after a detonation) -
Thank You. I don't think that anyone would argue against Tier 8+ cruisers being given some help in the current meta. So they got buffed. However, one man's buff is another man's nerf. Therefore as well as battleships having a more difficult time against more manoeuvrable cruisers, the following also have a more difficult time also: Torpedo Bombers from Aircraft Carriers Destroyers firing torpedoes at you Tier 7 and below cruisers who get uptiered Any others?
-
I did try the rudder shift upgrade on Admiral Hipper & Mogami on Public Test, but they are both Tier 8 ships. You mention that tier 6 does not get this option to upgrade. Does tier 7?
-
All true, and all good advice (from an expert in this class of destroyers!) However, I remain unconvinced that Anshan is worth it - FOR ME PERSONALLY. I bought it thinking that it was a slightly nerfed of Gremyashchy at tier 6 instead of tier 5. Instead it's a modified Tier 5 Gnevny. (My bad - nobody to blame but me. I should have done better research). I checked out both ships in my port. Both without a captain, but Anshan has Steering gears mod 2. Here are the differences. Differences chart I am useless with torpedoes (again - my fault. I cannot blame Anshan for that), so I have used both ships as gunboats. So, purely as a gunboat, Gnevny is more use to me due to better detectability, better fire chance and better matchmaking. I played 11 random battles and 29 in co-op in Anshan. Can't get the hang of it, and extremely frustrating. The captain has 6 points. Cannot be bothered to grind it any further to get more skills. I think I will sell this PoS.
-
It's easy to make offers aimed at a specific audience, so I can't see why WG cannot do it in the case of the Gremyashchy. I am not a big collector myself (1), but there are quite a few players who are. I cannot see what harm it would do in making this (supposedly OP) ship available for these serious collectors. Heck, with all the money that such collectors have given to Wargaming they should hand it out FREE to them as a bonus! (1) Though I do have 17 premium ships (4 of them freebies)

Share your opinion: Is World of Warship now unpleasant to you too ?
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to Gepeto_017's topic in General Discussion
I agree almost 100% (reservations about T5 & T6 Matchmaking system to one side) As to the OPs question: "Is World of Warship now unpleasant to you too ?" My answer: "Yes, It is a little bit unpleasant TBH - but it is because of FAILINGS ON MY PART (sadly), and NOT World of Warships." I am getting bored with it because of my own limitations.I need to feel competitive in order to enjoy the game, but I'm just an average player. (Well, average in Cruisers, but poor in Destroyers & Battleships). The only tier that I enjoy is tier 4, and even then it's just two ships (Phoenix & Kuma). Tier 7+ is a huge struggle (175 games played). Tiers 5 + 6 have a couple of ships that I can make a useful contribution to the team - but the new matchmaking means that I am bottome tier way more than top tier. This is by design of course and there are GOOD REASONS FOR IT. I just can't cope with it, which is my fault. Tiers 1-3 are just chaos. I keep playing because I love ships and I have spent so much money on the game and feel uneasy about "wasting" my investment by quitting. I did have a 10 week break in the summer, which helped rekindle a bit of enthusiasm for the game, but I seem to have lost it again) -

Always remembering, of course, that if the RN Cruisers still don't have HE then they wont actually be able to "burn things"!
