Potential names for high tier Italian ships

Another suggestion: How about Scipio Africanus the great Roman general? Apparently, even we Brits named four ships after him (well 3, actually. One was renamed). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HMS_Scipio

For a decent player such as yourself, yes. WoWS seems to be getting harder and harder for us "ordinary" players, though. (That's not your fault of course)

Ah! I like the idea of Marco Aurelio very much - a great suggestion. I had a quick look at the biography of the man. Yes - one of the giants, indeed. I love this quote - it sums up the forum! Everything we hear is an opinion, not a fact. Everything we see is a perspective, not the truth.

    steering gears mod 3

Well, I can almost see the smiles on the faces of the good people posting on this thread! So, steering gears mod 3 seems to have given high tier cruisers a new lease of life. Excellent! Now, what are we going to do for mid tier cruisers facing the Great Battleship Plague?

Potential names for high tier Italian ships

Me again. I've been thinking some more about this.... Are there any "spare" admirals that have not had ships named after them? There must be quite a few considering how important Genoa and Venice were as great trading states. Even if the most famous admirals have already been honoured, we could maybe extend that honour to some of the other admirals - at least for destroyers and cruisers. Maybe we want something more "grander" for Battleships, though.

    What should I do...Jap Destroyers

+1 I am in exactly the same position, so I would also like to know the answer to this question. (I realise that this is up to Wargaming and that forum members are trying to be helpful by explaining what happened in similar situations in WoT)
  7. I've just tred to look up my stats, and I also get: "Latest snapshot not available. Either the player has hidden his or her statistics or connection to WarGaming has failed." I've NEVER hidden my stats. Anyone who wants a good laugh can look at them.

It would be a naval equivalent of the scene from the film "Zulu" where the Zulus attack relentlessly. Respect to the Zulus! Extremely brave and great warriors. Remember that in real life, just before this battle the Zulus had won an overwhelming victory against British forces at the Battle of Isandlwana.

    Royal Navy Cruiser line

First of all, I like your posts and have been following them for some time (God - I sound like a stalker....but didn't your avatar used to be an admiral?) Secondly, I found your observations interesting. Thank you for posting them because we are starved of info from WG! Playing "Devil's Advocate", the only explanation that I can think of, regarding your questions, is that WG want to see how ships perform in the hands of a range of players. Some ships might seem really good in the hands of good players, but have a high skill ceiling. You shouldn't balance the ship based only on what good players can do with it. I hereby offer myself for testing new premium ships, as an example of the "Really Bad" players group. It's a tough job - but someone has got to do it.

Is that the flag of the Cagliari football team in the background? ON-TOPIC I'm not even Italian, just a bit of an "italianophile" (is that a real word?), but let me give my 2 cents worth. 1) I am a bit wary of naming the ships after cities or regions of Italy in case people become upset that their particular city is not represented. e.g. if there is a battleship named "Napoli" but not "Venezia" 2) Famous Italian people is a good choice, and promotes respect Galileo (up thread) is a good suggestion. You could include Michelangelo, Verdi, Garibaldi - and I'm sure the North American audience would appreciate a "Christopher Columbus" But whatever......just get the Italian fleet in the game!
  13. I feel pretty similar. See you in co-op. At least we will be on the same side! I am part of the problem. Even though I am a cruiser player I had to try the German Battleships, and I enjoyed them (up to Bayern - a good ship but got bored with playing Tier 8 games). However, when I went back to cruisers again I noticed that there were far too many battleships around, as many people have observed in several threads. When the balance of ships is wrong the game is no fun. I have never actually done it, but I am THAT (1) close to just rage quitting when I see the line-ups sometimes. (1) Holds up thumb and first finger very close together

    Royal Navy Cruiser line

Yes, it would be nice if the RN cruiser line has a different style - but the key point is: they must be competitive. Not OP. Not UP. Just competitive. Talking about "a different game play." you must be pleased that the most unique ship in the game (IMHO) is a Frech ship - the Dunkerque! I have the ship in my port but I am still working out how to play her properly. She's a good ship though. (And handsome)

The lengths that some people will go to just to get the König Albert!
  17. Much, much less enjoyable. But it is MY FAULT AND NOT THE GAME. The game has got better and better IMHO (but I never saw it in CBT as some posters did). The novelty has worn off, and I have realised that my own lack of skills are proving an insurmountable stumbling block to further progress. (Yes, I watch loads of youtubers and read the forums, taking notes as I go - but I just don't have an aptitude for the game.) We can't all be unicums, though, and I enjoy many other things in "real life" so that's OK. This is what I put in another recent thread on this subject: http://forum.worldofwarships.eu/index.php?/topic/63136-share-your-opinion-is-world-of-warship-now-unpleasant-to-you-too/ I am getting bored with it because of my own limitations.I need to feel competitive in order to enjoy the game, but I'm just an average player. (Well, average in Cruisers, but poor in Destroyers & Battleships). The only tier that I enjoy is tier 4, and even then it's just two ships (Phoenix & Kuma). Tier 7+ is a huge struggle (175 games played). Tiers 5 + 6 have a couple of ships that I can make a useful contribution to the team - but the new matchmaking means that I am bottom tier way more than top tier. This is by design of course and there are GOOD REASONS FOR IT. I just can't cope with it, which is my fault. Tiers 1-3 are just chaos. I keep playing because I love ships and I have spent so much money on the game and feel uneasy about "wasting" my investment by quitting. I did have a 10 week break in the summer, which helped rekindle a bit of enthusiasm for the game, but I seem to have lost it again.

Notification of my bonus arrived a few minutes ago. I had just unsubscribed from further Wargaming newsletters about an hour before. When I looked at my inbox and saw a mail from Wargaming I almost deleted it in rage that they had ignored my instructions. Got until 31st October to claim it. Might not bother.

British Accent Voice is Hilarious (Please Change it)

For those who wonder about my odd name; Captain Cowper Phipps Coles (1819-1870); Victorian RN Captain and inventor of the revolving gun turret, as well as sole designer of the HMS Captain (1870). An ill-fated Royal Navy turret ship which could be described as the world's first modern battleship. A great choice of IGN to honour such a man. Respect to both you for doing so, and for Captain Coles for his work.

    GG CVs 0.5.12.0

What you say sounds perfectly reasonable - what worries me is the "context". We already have a different UI for Carriers and different game experience with RTS. In addition we have special matchmaking for carriers. If we add yet another difference - maintenance cost - then I think we get two consequences 1) Even more of the "Us and Them" feeling towards carriers, especially from people who find it difficult to cope in playing against them - the "Sky C*****" brigade 2) Increased demands from players of other classes to be treated differently - because "Hey! Our class has special difficulties too!" Maybe it is something that has to happen in order to save the game from slowly withering away. Just for once I don't claim to know the answer.

    one time offer

Everything that you said is excellent. So much so that I feel a bit like the child who has to explain his actions to the school principal! *Embarrassed* I chose the 6.8 figure for Gnevny with camo to show the best detectability that you can get (without Concealment Expert Captain), compared to the supplied camo on Anshan (which gives the 100% Free XP boost as well) - sorry if this misled anybody. Great advice about the value of AP on Gremy/Gnevny/Anshan. So many people ignore it. I try to use it wherever possible of course, but sometimes it is better to use HE. I always use it fighting other DDs for example. The bottom line for me is that I would rather face a tier 7 ship in a tier 5, than a tier 8 ship in a tier 6. Your mileage may vary. And because I have to play these ships as a gunboat, I would actually feel more comfortable playing Gnevny in a Tier 8 battle than Anshan. Again, your mileage may vary. Objectively I am possibly "wrong" - but I can't help the way I feel based on actually playing these ships. I am sorry if I offend anybody by disliking my Anshan.
