I've lost the place here. Is Shinonome (T6 Fubuki trial ship) the ship that I'll get as replacement for my T6 Mutsuki? (Which is dropping to T5, isn't it)

Discussion thread for "some interesting info around the world"
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to Deamon93's topic in General Discussion
(See post #4572 in main thread) I understand the desire to make "things better for beginners on T3-4". I am glad that Wargaming have now realised that they have to carry this through to T5 as well. As it stands, the impact of:-a) meeting ships two tiers higher for the first time, andb) meeting some particularly good tier 6 ships (e.g. Aoba, Cleveland, Budyonny, New Mexico, Fuso)c) matchmaking that puts them low-tier more often than top-tier . . . comes as a nasty shock. The good players can cope with it rather better, but less gifted players may be tempted to give up altogether. Even I, as a more experienced potato, avoid T5 & T6 unless I'm feeling in a masochistic mood! I am very interested in what Wargaming do to "soften the impact of this change", but I am heartened that they realise that it should be addressed. -
Cruisers are becoming more and more pointless

"Therapist" - An English word derived by combining two other words, namely "The" and "Rapist". -
Spotting plane. I cannot get the hang of this. It's obviously not "seal friendly". But that is a personal choice. I've been trying and trying with this for about a year now (first had one on Murmansk) - and I can't hit a damn thing with it - except by pure luck. The worst thing about it is the weird trajectory of the shells which seem to just die, and then drop almost vertically on the target. You don't seem to get any idea of where one salvo will land, so you have to see what happens AND THEN fire your next salvo (even if you had it ready to go while the previous salvo was on its way to target)

Automated Comms please - EU is multilingual
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to V_RASK's topic in General Discussion
I'm a bit surprised at that. Mind you, whenever we go to Greece, the "Other Half" always speaks to them in Greek (she's Greek Cypriot). She never has any trouble, because people are so friendly, except in Athens. She says that it's the only place where they laugh at her accent. -

Yes, they should replace that one, and "That was a great battle!" with something more useful,e.g. - "F***ing noob team" - "Don't Cap - we might win!" -
6th of October. Where is our Arpeggio of Blue Steel double cruiser Missions?
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to Kameho's topic in General Discussion
There are four main ways to interpret this IMHO: 1) WG staff worked off their feet. Too much to do, and have not been able to set it up yet. 2) WG have decided to not run the event, or run it later. Standard WG communications problem. Wargaming, where communication is so poor that even rumours don't spread! 3) Incompetence somewhere. Someone "forgot", or not doing their job. 4) Something more serious. There could be a lot of reasons. But I've mislaid my tin foil hat, so I can't speculate at the moment. -

@OP - you need a "None of the above" option for me to tick. The game itself is great! It's become better and better since I joined a year ago. (There is an issue of too many BBs around - but that can be fixed in lots of ways). Initially, my own play improved, and it was fun seeing the improvement, but has hit a brick wall at "Just about scrapes into the average category...maybe". This limits my enjoyment a lot. I keep playing it because it is fun IN SMALL QUANTITIES. The only tiers that I like are 4 & 5, but these get boring after a few games. About 25% of my games are in tiers 6 & 7 but I am not competitive, and I hate being a drag on my team. Sadly, I've not seen any signs of progress there in about six months. I am hoping that concentrating on one nation's ships (Russia) will improve things a bit. -
Spot on!

"Just how ridiculous DD's really are, DD's fans i laugh at you" There is something about the thread title that makes me think of this. -
Future British battleships and their Tiers
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to DaOrange's topic in General Discussion
Not having British Battleships is a price that I would happily pay for avoiding World War 3. Sadly, it appears that the United States is trying to make up for the fact that it was late for the first two world wars by being really early for the next one. -

Absolutely! However, on a scale of "madness" is it more mad, or is it less mad than proposing a line of Light Cruisers without HE shells (to take a hypothetical example)? -
Leningrad - Premium DD in the shop
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to Nechrom's topic in General Discussion
I have the Murmansk, and I agree 100% - it is my #1 Captain Trainer. I'll be completely open here. Due to limited time, skills, comparative performance (1), and the sheer slog of getting captains trained I have decided to concentrate on the Russian ships. Of course, I can train Captain's quicker by shifting them to premiums to get the "Daily Double". I'm OK with cruiser trainers. They are not a perfect fit, but reasonably good. I have Aurora, Murmansk, Molotov and Mikhail Kutuzov. (I also have Imperator Nilolai I, because...err...it's Russian) I don't have a Russian DD premium, (Gimme Gremyashchy, please!), but the Leningrad worries me as a "bad fit" for a trainer. Heck it even looks better for some of my cruiser captains (who have BFT, EM & AFT in their skills) (1) I do far better in Russian ships than other nations, which isn't saying a lot but at least my team don't have to carry me in most matches. -
No ( ), but as someone pointed out on the webpage that shows the wallpaper, it shows a ship firing torpedoes from the second line . . . .. http://worldofwarships.eu/en/news/common/wallpaper-october/

Especially for the Royal Navy "AP-only" cruiser line.

Leningrad - Premium DD in the shop
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to Nechrom's topic in General Discussion
To be fair, most ships are enjoyable with a 17pt Captain (or so I imagine, since I am light years from getting one). Also, it helps if the "real life captain" at the keyboard is a good player - as your good self. How good is this ship as a captain trainer, though? This is supposed to be one of the key reasons for buying premium ships, -

T7 RU Premium Leningrad: Great Ship, Awkward Captain
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to Pupu_prpr's topic in Destroyers
If - though I realise it is a BIG "IF" - you want the gold and flags anyway, then the net cost of the ship+port is £11.08 with the Ultimate package. (Gold worth £10.79, Flags worth £4.37, overall cost of the package is £26.24) EDIT: Might buy it myself so that I can play something in the current meta, since cruisers are rather challenging for a noob like me at the moment.- 19 replies

Leningrad - Premium DD in the shop
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to Nechrom's topic in General Discussion
That's on the "Supreme" package. I am recommending the "Ultimate Package". Admiral_H_Nelson replied to Nechrom's topic in General Discussion
If you want the gold and the flags then the "Ultimate" pack is a decent discount on the standard package. Emphasis on "if" ... The 3150 doubloons would cost 12.33 euros, and the flags are 50% of the "Full Speed Ahead" pack (which is 9.99 euros) - call it 4.99. So the total value of these extra items is 17.32 euros (give or take a cent!) Therefore the Leningrad+slot costs 29.99 - 17.32 = 12.67 with this package. Not bad compared to the standard price of 20.80 euros. -
They reward good players, and punish bad players. They beat me up pretty bad.

Economy changes - my personal opinion (loooong post)
Admiral_H_Nelson replied to ThePurpleSmurf's topic in General Discussion
Yep - and other classes have been sucked into the net. They need strong differentials in the fixed cost servicing to protect CVs, CAs and DDs. Something like (in proportion): CV - 100,000 credits CA - 90,000 credits DD - 60,000 credits BB - 500,000 credits ( I wish ) 200,000 credits That should persuade more people to play something other than Battleships, thereby making the composition of each team more balanced. -
Right, there is a great American expression that describes my mood right now: "Mad as a box of frogs". But, there's another great American expression that comes to mind at the same time: "Don't get mad, get even". How do we get even with these arrogant people at Wargaming who take us Europeans for granted? (Wasn't there some data published about the EU contributing more money per head to WoWS than anywhere else - or something?) We are not inferior beings. We are just as good as anyone else. How dare they treat us like this!
-
If Wargaming ran a pregnancy testing service, there would be a 10 month wait before they gave you the test results. I understand not knowing a date for RN cruisers or the IJN destroyer split. They are still being worked on. But König Albert has been on sale for four frigging weeks in America - and it's an EU ship for &*%$$ sake! What's the status on this? You can tell us. You don't have to treat us like mushrooms. (Maybe you just like doing it to wind us up for some weird reasons of your own, such as Russia not getting enough votes in the Eurovision Song Contest)
