One of the buffs being to morph into a US cruiser, by the look of things? [confused]

    Royal Navy Cruiser line

How curious - the form of words. - The US Battleships HAVE something that their peers do not - The IJN Iwaki and Yubari HAVE something that their peers do not - The high tier German battleships HAVE something that their peers do not but for RN cruisers.... They DO NOT HAVE something that their peers DO HAVE. So potentially, RN cruisers could NOT HAVE three things 1) Defensive AA 2) HE ammo 3) A friggin chance

Stumbled upon new Camoflage on the Test Server?

Maybe we'll get an event in November - that's always assuming that they publish the events calendar in time!

    Map Changes Feedback

Are there any maps other than "Rendezvous" on the PT server? It's the only one that I have seen so far! (Alright, only 4 games, but still). It is a nice map though, with plenty of island cover for ambushes. It is OK for me as a cruiser player, but I don't think that Battleship players will like it much.

    Royal Navy Cruiser line

    1. "... nerf Buddy..." 2. " ... move Cleveland .." 3. Fix Tier 6 Matchmaking so that they get a fair share of being top tier and bottom tier. instead of the skewed games that they are getting since the new MM came in. (And do the same with Tier 5 while they are at it)

Free Emden premium ship + 7 day premium + 1kk credits!

Nothing for me. However, I get loads of good luck in this game, so I mustn't be greedy.

    Captain Skills Distribution Guide (0.5.12)

Great job! This guide has been very useful to me every since the first version at 0.5.3. For sharing your knowledge ... For putting the effort into producing the guide ... Thank you for changing the recommendation for Anshan. I have 4 spare points to use on the ship, and some demons that I need to exorcise. The old version said: "I personally prefer using Demolition Expert on the Anshan..." Whilst this is a very good choice, I wanted to take AFT instead, but it made me very uncomfortable. I'm glad to see that the new version says:Advanced Firing Training is the best choice to boost the range of your main guns. Russian DDs have shell trajectories that allow you to easily hit enemies beyond 12 KM and the Gremy, Anshan and Leningrad are all capable of stealth-firing due to their relatively good concealment. Survivability Expert is not a bad choice either because Russian DDs get shot at often. Demolition Expert is a great choice to boost damage, but I recommend taking AFT first. (My emphasis) Kurbain rules O.K.
  9. Please guys, give me a bit of wiggle room here. I HAVE put effort into getting better. And, yes, I am better than when I started. However, I also have to face the fact that I have more enthusiasm than aptitude. Win rate 54.07% and dropping. I've scoured the internet for tutorials and tips. (And this forum has been very good in that regard) I've watched loads of videos from various Youtubers, such as Flamu, Notser, iChase, Jingles, NoZoupForYou, Jammin411, Voulezvous, Business6, Aeroon. I've watched the whole of iChase's "Captain's Academy" including the new stuff posted in the last few weeks. I've even re-watched whole videos just to pay attention to how players keep their ship moving in a snake-like manner to help avoid incoming fire. I don't accept that "less able players" - if I can put it like that - must necessarily "ruin the game". They can be a nuisance, yes, but I keep away from higher tiers where I would be a burden on my team, and try to play tiers/ships where I can make a decent contribution to my team (i.e mostly in top half of scoring table)

    Royal Navy Cruiser line

I am not. I'm looking forward to the line with some apprehension, and I say that as mainly a masochist cruiser player. Why? Because there has not been a line whose development has been so troubled as this one. We have 12 lines in the game, and as far as I can tell they have followed the same development pattern: 1) Initial plans2) Test3) If happy with the results go to next step, otherwise tweak ship parameters and return to step 24) Release into the game Compare that with the history of the RN line so far (using WG's own admissions): 1) Version 1 planned as a strong HE ship2) Test3) Abandon Version 1 completely4) Create Version 2 with no HE at all (an unprecedented level of so-called "variety") and gimmicks such as hyper "speed-boost".5) Test6) Abandon Version 2 completely7) Create Version 3, still with no HE, but with smoke gimmicks, and modifications that begin to recognize that many of the player base have discovered the "angling" hack against AP.8) Issue a few controlled "leaks" to gauge the reaction to the latest fantasies. OF COURSE I WANT TO BE PROVED WRONG! Of course I hope for a RN cruiser line that is the equal of its rivals. But the omens are not great, are they?
  11. That's a good point - and XP earned in battle DOES reflect such useful contributions to the team. Maybe we could have some ratings formula that included XP, Win Rate and Damage? (And also bonus points if you have a really cool IGN like "Admiral_H_Nelson")

Future British battleships and their Tiers

I love ships, so I have enjoyed reading this thread. To all contributors: I believe that WG will do whatever it takes to fit ANY ship to whatever tier they place it upon, and ignore reality if it suits them. They could make the tier 1 Erie fit Tier 10 if they wanted to! You might say that their grip on reality is not very strong.

    New XP and credit income

He compared the last full week with 0.5.11 vs the first week of 0.5.12 over on that server." Hat tip to "shamelesscreature" , and to Takru for reposting the data.

    October event calendar

With no calendar AT ALL in sight for October, no apology for the "problem", and a huge number of events in the published Russian calendar, it seems 100% appropriate to bring out this "old chestnut" ....... Knorr are famous for their chicken and beef stock cubes. They are going to make a new one in honour of Wargaming. It will be called the "Laughing Stock".
  15. I believe the key lies in the sequence of characters: > … > (or similar) Everything to the left of it is a top performing ship, then we have "> … > " to indicate the middle-performers, then finally the lowest perormers named explicitly.

British Accent Voice is Hilarious (Please Change it)

I tried the "English" voice setting but it annoys me for some reason. (All taste is personal, after all). I have gone back to the "US English" voice. I like that one anyway, so it is no problem.

What is the reason for the forums to exist?

It's now up on the website: "Update 0.5.12.1 is scheduled for 11 October and will be applied on the servers from 05:30 CEST until 07:00 CEST (UTC+2) during which time the game server will be offline." http://worldofwarships.eu/en/content/update-notes-main/patch-notes-05121/ Still no events calendar though. This is important, because people have already been caught out in buying US ships at full price - because they did not realise that there would be discounts on US ships this weekend, due to no calendar.
  20. At tier 4, "Imperator Nikolai I" is NOT the best ship. However, at Tier 6 & Tier 7, two other Premium battleships ARE the best ship. CONCLUSION: "Imperator Nikolai I" should no longer to be considered OP - put it on sale in the premium shop!

    October event calendar

There are discounts on US ships this weekend. I'm sure that all those who bought US ships at the full price BECAUSE THERE WAS NO EVENTS CALENDAR TO WARN THEM OTHERWISE are very happy about this....not. I already had all the US ships that I want - but reading the website reveals that some people have been caught like this. GJ Wargaming, GJ. You ought to issue an apology AND give a refund to anyone caught out.
  22. I very much like the underlying principle of having "n" matches at +1/-1, rather than these blanket rules on protected matchmaking. Just a suggestion to be shot down in flames: We could perhaps tie +1/-1 Matchmaking to base XP, rather than a fixed number of games. A good player may have the feel of a ship after only 2-3 games, but potatoes (i.e. people such as me) would need a lot more games! EXAMPLE 1) Player is about to start on Ship "A". The next ship is "B", and the player will need to unlock a total of 50000 XP to research this using ship "A". 2) Give the player some percentage of the total XP where they can have +1/-1 matchmaking - say 25%. This means that the first 12500 of XP gained (in this example) would be at +1/-1 matchmaking. 3) Good players would get to the 12500 target sooner than average players, so it would be self-adjusting (well, to a degree).
  23. QUOTE I highlighted the section... but I'll include it again. Making things easier for T3 and 4 and then carry that through to t5 can only mean one thing to me. That the things that were implemented to protect the previous two tiers now also protect T5. I'm glad that you don't think that's what should be done, but you really did lay it out like that. END-QUOTE 1) "I'm glad that you don't think that's what should be done, but you really did lay it out like that." No I did not. You are misinterpreting what I said. I think for the reasons in point 3 (below). 2) "Making things easier for T3 and 4 and then carry that through to t5 can only mean one thing to me. That the things that were implemented to protect the previous two tiers now also protect T5." Fine. It may only mean one thing to you, but it does not to me. I made NO SUGGESTION OR IMPLICATION WHATSOEVER ON WHAT SHOULD BE DONE at Tier 5 to "soften the impact of this change". All I said was that I was interested in what they might do. Read it again: I am very interested in what Wargaming do to "soften the impact of this change", but I am heartened that they realise that it should be addressed. 3) The only person who made any comment whatsoever on possible actions to take was YOU! Even then we discovered that we were in VIOLENT AGREEMENT! I suspect that you feel very strongly about the idea of extending T3-T4 style matchmaking to T5, and saw my post as an opportunity to "vent your spleen". (http://idioms.thefreedictionary.com/vent+spleen) Have a nice weekend, and Good Luck with the "American Fleet" mission.
  24. "Are you suggesting that T5 get the same rules that T4 gets?" No, I am not. Nor can I see how my post could be interpreted that way! I think that you maybe suggested it because it is an argument that you personally oppose and want to present your arguments against it (which are good ones ). Since we seem to be in total agreement on that score I can only reiterate what I said, which should be taken at face value: I am very interested in what Wargaming do to "soften the impact of this change", but I am heartened that they realise that it should be addressed. .... because I am a) Interested, and b) heartened
  25. "the reason you keep double-clicking WorldOfWarships.exe" One of the forumites has a great signature (allegedly a quotation from Albert Einstein) : "Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results."
